Reality Strikes Back! Coming November 2010
Reality is making a major comeback in DC this fall. I have to say this observation by Matthew Continetti seems to best sum up the 2010 election year that is ahead:
The political class is supposed to serve the people, not the other way around. As Gerald Ford said after assuming the presidency on August 9, 1974, “Here the people rule.”
For a while now, the message from Washington has been that we know what’s good for the public, whether the public likes it or not.
I think that is going to be the essence of the 2010 election, the year Americans took back their country – for real.
I think this is why Sarah Palin is so popular. She is one of us.
I heard Chris Mathews talk about Teddy Kennedy, and how the cocoon around him protected him from the ramifications of Mary Jo’s death, the media as well. So Kennedy ran for President and lost, but he thought only 3% of the people disapproved of his handling of the situation.
How is this circumstance any different today, protecting Obama from the reality of what the people fear, that the people have lost trust in government, that they have lost trust in Obama. Who is protecting Obama from the obvious?
There is definatley something going on with the people right now (revolution, unrest, movement?). I don’t know what to call it; and, I’m not sure where it will take us at the end of the day. However, the people are aware, demanding, awake and alert right now (like never before in my lifetime)–so, God help the politician who tries to pull a fast one.
We will see. I am afraid that most of these people are in districts so gerrymandered that there is little likelihood of them winning.
People always say they want to throw the bumbs out and then they turn right around and give most of them another term.
I should have said there is little likelihood of them losing.
It needs to start with the Dems that were elected in Red “McCain” districts, and work backwards as to what worked to get the Reps elected with Newt at the helm. However with the current crop of many RINOS at the helm, I don’t have much faith in the leadership.
If the Republicans become energized and show up at the polls in larger than normal proportion for a mid-term election in 2010, then all bets are off for the Democrats in ANY district. According to Pew, the voter turnout in mid-term elections is about 40%. Participation in Presidential election years is about 55-60%. If Republicans and independents can be motivated to show up to the polls in a mid-term election at a rate similar to Presidential elections, the Democrats are in real trouble in all but the safest of safe districts (where they consistently win by more than 20 points).
Getting people’s votes onto the rolls is the key to winning 2010.
And I don’t see much out of this Congress motivating the Democrats to show up at the polls in droves.

RINOs will rule because the far right is as bad as the far left. That is the lesson here. The centrists will keep cleaning house until the zealots are neutralized – as the far right is now.
I understand that McCain is considering working with the Senate Democrats to get health care insurance reform passed.
ARGH!!! I was unhappy with the US presidential choices on a dreary day last November.
I supposed that had McCain won, the giant would still be sleeping…and we wouldn’t be seeing tea parties, well-attended townhall meetings, etc.
Which leads to the next question…will we see a revolution?
If Obama gets his health care reform, I believe the answer is yes. Rush may also be right that Obama may, in fact, implode the Democratic Party.
Rush knew Obama would fail. And Obama is failing. If next year’s elections is a blowout for the Democrats, this would have to be the shortest majority term by one party.
Olberman said that if Obama doesn’t get the health care reform with the public option, he will be pushing for a progressive candidate for 2012.
I’m no longer sure what the “far right” really means, btw, versus centrist. I understand what the “far left” means. To me, the majority of the “far right” represents many ideas of the American Founding.
Who is Barack Obama and where does he want to take this country? Van Jones is the voice, espouses the real values of the government that represents this country. Van Jones is the alter-ego of our now elected government, make no mistake about it. Obama is a front for this movement. Van jones was picked by Valerie Jarrett, Valerie is the Karl Rove of this administration. Nothing gets past her that doesn’t represent Barack Obama. If you want to know Barack Obama, look at his Czar appointments. They are his heart, his mind, his values, they represent where Obama wants to take this nation, and they represent the organizations that he will empower to do it, ACORN, labor unions, those who have been “disenfranchised”. The stimulus bill, the cap and trade bill, the health care bill, and the hugh education bill, gives tax payers dollars by the bucket full to organizations, and to these groups. There was never any intention to grow this economy for everybody, the intention was to redistribute dollars to those who have had few, for those who need medical care to do it at tax payers expense, and to employ those unemployed or under employed to give jobs in a “new green economy”. Follow the money and you will understand the intension. Make no mistake about it, this is payback time and it is going to cost a bundle.
Hhhhmmm…the lefties went after Karl Rove big time…Counting on Fitz to charge Karl Rove, attempt to blame Karl on the DOJ firings more conspiracy theories involving Karl Rove, and so on…Karl finally resigned on his own and early.
Now the righties are trying to get Valerie Jarrett out.
When will this end?
The next conservative President will have to deal with these lefties. Maybe by then, the MSM will have died off? Maybe that’s an ultimate and eventual target for Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Mark Levin to go after?
Republicans–but unfortunately, probably NOT conservatives–could well pick up a fair number of seats in 2010, but ONLY if they are able and willing to get to the polls. Look for the left to practice all manner of fraud and intimidation to see that voters remain at home, or have their votes miscounted . The criminality leading to election day will be incredible. The MSM will be playing as well. Voters will have to be prepared for anything.
10,000 Show for TEA Party in Illinois (five days ahead of time)
…the sheriff’s office is reporting to us that the crowd estimate for the rally here is 10,000+ and they are shutting down a portion of Interstate 80 for traffic control do to the massive influx of people…
