Senate Poll Shocker
I knew the Democrats were heading for political self destruction in 2010 and 2012 – but I had no idea it was going to be this bad. Here is the latest Rasmussen poll for the Nebraska Senate seat held by long time incumbent Ben Nelson (D):
Dave Heineman (R)
61%
Ben Nelson (D)
30%
Some other candidate
5%
Not sure
4%
That is just incredible. Nelson won his last race in 2006 by basically the opposite margins: 64-36%. He has been a solid conservative Democrat who looked unbeatable. But the rising tide against the Democrats in 2009 is now at tsunami levels and still rising. For 2010 looks like Dems will lose incumbents in CT (Dodd) and Nevada (Reid), neither of whom are polling beyond the political death mark of 40%. It also looks like Dems could lose seats in NJ and CO, even possibly IL. I am beginning to wonder how bad this blowout will be when independents and older voters shift dramatically back to center right (don’t worry about far right candidates in primaries – the economy is so bad people will be out in droves in the primary process to get things back on an even keel).
Our new Senator Begich [Alaska] will be one term… [opinionalert]…
.
You folks down south will have to throw out your guys as they come up for re-election though… Get with it…
.
Sry for Begich again… I know… I know… Stevens was flawed but he was a lion on the big issues…
Toes,
Little known fact. I went to school with the Begich’s when they lived here in VA. Was at one of their birthday parties when their father was lost in Alaska – very sad day.
Yes, they are a liberal lot. But the seeds of their leftist paranoia were sown by the rumor mill of DC after their father’s tragic disappearance. Really sad.
Nelson isn’t worried. Harry Reid has told him that all the criticism will turn to shouts of joy and praise as soon as people realize what is in the bill. Would Harry lie?
Failing that, there’s always a seat for life on the board of any number of George Soros controlled foundations. Nelson didn’t forget to take care of #1 when he made that deal.
People wanted the liberals really bad … and they got them really bad.
Liberal politics only make sense when there is a lot of other people’s money that you can take from them and redistribute. When you have a situation as we have now with the huge destruction of personal net worth through the collapse of the housing market, liberal politics aren’t so appealing anymore.
I believe the shock that the Democrats are going to face will be much deeper than at the national level. I believe the Democrats are going to be run out on a rail at all levels of government.
Even in supposedly “non-partisan” local elections, I look up the candidates’ political donations figuring that their own political leanings will be reflected in their donations. I do that in all contested elections.
Obama still wants to blame the failure of the system to catch the latest would be bomber on Bush. Maybe if Obama had reviewed the data collected in the last year it might have worked better. Someone couldn’t have raised a red flag on a guy with no luggage, a one way ticket, and a concerned father. Really, what more did someone want. I’m more then sick of the blame game, when will our President grow up?

No passport also. He should have never been allowed on the plane without a passort. It is ridiculous to let him on with a visa alone. And he was not screened all along the way.
I remember reading some months ago about a couple with a 6 week old baby. The baby’s name was on the no fly list. The parents were told they could get on the plane but the baby couldn’t and would have to stay behind. This is the kind of people in the TSA. They let an accused terrorist on without a passport after his father turned him in but refused to allow that “terrorist” baby on with his parents. I have read where the TSA searched grandmother in their 80s and 90s and children in strollers and let ME men pass on through with no problem. I guess they think (know) CAIR would holler loudly if they only searched the actual perptraters. The ACLU (allies of CAIR) would sue. We need to someway, somehow eliminate the government paying for discrimination law suits.
“This is the kind of people in the TSA. ”
This was an international flight. The TSA does not screen passengers in Nigeria or Holland.
Confirmed on Fox news…….the would be bomber has been tracked by the CIA since August 2009. Now blame it on Bush you idiot.
Given the above information how stupid does the Obama administration look. It took Obama 3 days to make a statement, presumably so he would know all the facts, he comes out and talks about the alleged bomber, says he needs to review the bad stuff Bush did, comes out today, still blames Bush and all along his own CIA has been tracking the would be bomber for 4 months, and he didn’t know it before he came out. I hope he is doing better on the golf course.

Obamamandelavelt is becoming more radioactive by the hour. Even some of the loonies on DU are predicting Nelson will do an about-face on HCR because of the heat he’s getting back home. Anyone know how many senate votes will be needed to get this mess to Obama’s desk? Very confusing business.
Flint, I think the next vote will only take 51 in the senate. The dems like Nelson will have a “convenient” out to vote no…because the dems will still be able to pass it….unless we all really put the heat on the senate dems…and house dems, too.
Be mindful of what’s really going on with the CIA story – Napolitano’s agency must have leaked this story to CNN in order to put the blame on the CIA and not on her department.
Now watch the CIA find a way to strike back.
Circular Firing Squad Time!
Maybe Obama can be the Pivot Man.
By now the Nebraskans knowing that the next vote will take 51 votes, which allows Nelson an “out”, I doubt that the Nebraskans are going to give him an “out”. Not this time. They understand that Nelson was the 60th vote based on an unfair trade.
I can’t believe that the national GOP decided to abandon Scott Brown when he could build up a momentum in the next few weeks. But that shouldn’t be a surprise.
The poll numbers might also convince Obama to back off on health care. That would certainly restore the trust in Obama, huh?
And if they have those townhall meetings in the next few weeks open to everyone barring SEIU and ACORN…
