Space Is Beautiful
If anyone doubts the existence of a higher being (and the fact science allows us to explore the glories of this universe) check this out. If people wonder why I prefer to integrate science and spirituality verses chosing one side or the other – there’s your answer in a picture. Here is the region of the first picture.
One of my all time favorites is Pillars of Creation where new solar systems are being born.
But if you want to contemplate the beauty of life, spending some time meditating on the Hubble Images is not a bad way to go.
Last year, my wife and I went to Hawaii for a vacation. The beaches were wonderful and the snorkeling as good as I expected, but the absolute highlight was our tour of the summit of Mauna Kea, (where there are ~10 observatories) followed by an hour or two at ~10,000 feet looking at objects through our guide’s 12 inch telescope. Pictures do not do justice to these incredible objects. They are so much more vivid in “real Life”, through the lens of a telescope, than even the best reproductions. I highly recommend the trip.
I suppose there are areas in the continental US where the air quality approaches the clarity of Mauna Kea, but to find such a spot at 10,000 feet is rare.
