Maxine Waters: “The Devil Made Me Do It”
What are those whacky Democrats in DC smoking these days? Representative Maxine Waters came out today to claim she had to break the law and help her husband save/make thousands of dollars because President Bush made her do it? I kid you not:
Embattled Rep. Maxine Waters on Friday blamed the Bush administration for her ethics problems — saying she had to intervene with the Treasury Department on behalf of minority-owned banks seeking federal bailout funds — including one tied to her husband — because the Treasury Department wouldn’t schedule its own appointments.

But the House ethics committee, which is investigating Waters for allegedly improperly using her position for personal gain, says in its report of charges that when the meeting was held, the officers of only one bank came — OneUnited.
That’s a problem for Waters since her husband, Sidney Williams, served as a member of OneUnited’s board of directors from January 2004 until April 2008, and was a stockholder in the bank.
It’s that ol’ blame that ‘Devil Bush’ routine. Sadly, it is also laughable. It seems more like a blast back to Flip Wilson’s ‘Geraldine’ character than a believable defense.
Maybe it is time for Madam Maxine to retire and take her comedy routine on the road.
It really does strike me as pure desperation from a idiot in the “ruling class” that thinks us “country class” folks are idiots to fall for this non-sense!
I heard some of her comments today – her primary defense is based on her claim that she disclosed what she was doing to fellow congressmen at the time.
Look through the legal language and realize what she’s really saying here: her entire defense is based on the “principle” that if she told her fellow Democrats what she was stealing when she was in the process of stealing it, then no one ever has the right to complain about it.
And also note that she also does not deny any of the actions that she’s been accused of. Just like Charlie Rangel – she honestly believes it is her Right to fleece this country for all she can grab.

I want to say that Maxine reminds me of Aunt Esther back on Sanford and Son, but that’s actually quite an insult to Aunt Esther! (who actually was a great character, don’t get me wrong!)
So what did she say? I robbed the bank but there was no money there, so I am innocent.

Yep, that was an insult to Aunt Esther! Maxine is a lot closer to that Joy Behar (The Only View). Both are nasty mean but I bet ole Maxine tops her in theft for the entire family coffers.
