I really, really, really want my tax dollars back so I can spend the money on necessities instead of watching the liberal left fritter it away on complete nonsense. While the economy remains in a heap of trouble and our deficits are soaring, the Democrats are focused like a laser beam on ….

A child nutrition bill on its way to President Barack Obama — and championed by the first lady — gives the government power to limit school bake sales and other fundraisers that health advocates say sometimes replace wholesome meals in the lunchroom.
I just cannot fathom why I paid these fools a dime for this madness. We really need to cut government back down to the bare minimum. I have college educations to save up for and these morons are worried about cupcake sales.

This should scare the heck out of everyone!! Just replace “school bake sales” with anything else that “experts” say is “bad” for us. Where will it stop? Will kids have their cakes confiscated? Maybe they need x-ray scanners at schools to seek out illegal cakes kids may be “smuggling” into school.
Meanwhile the “adults” will drive themselves to the local Starbucks for a triple mocha latte with whipped cream and a giant fat-laden blueberry muffin…

I read this at “Hot Air’ this is the true Progressive agenda. It is where 20% of the population is, it is the agenda of the have nots, the educators, the elitists, those who dream the grand moral dream, but have never done anything. Those who are firmly detached from reality. Those who’s development in the real world ended about 8th grade. This is what the “tea party” folk know, saw, heard and said this is not the America that I know and want. Governing is not minding my business, or raising my children or paying my bills. Stay our of my living room, and stop rearranging my furniture.
This person was commenting on the lack of leadership coming from Obama and what the movement needs, what the Progressive movement wants.

Just checked with NRO. Sounds like Schumer and company will not capitulate on the extension of tax rates for all and everyone. And they are willing to allow them to expire and fight against the Republicans.
If the Republicans are SMART, they should stick to their position and allow the Dems to expire those tax rates. AND take advantage of the PR game by saying that the Democrats voted de facto / ad hoc to allow them to extend them as an uncaring party.
I listened to Kristen Powers yesterday after the vote. She and all other Democratic pundits are starting to lose their ability to win people to their side. Their words have no effect on me and I’m sure that this applies to everyone as they see the truth and they ain’t spelling out the truth of the matter.
Obama can’t sign it for the same reason that Clinton couldn’t, even though he tried. Treaties have to be ratified by a 2/3 vote in the Senate. (hence all the talk about the START treaty right now)
But the situation today is a lot more fun than that, if you haven’t been following – the fatal flaw buried in the original Kyoto accord was that it expired for everyone in 2012. It was a time limited agreement done in the belief that something much stronger would be put in it’s place – that’s what was supposed to be decided on a year ago at Copenhagen, and that’s why the Copenhagen bust was such a disaster for the global warmists! With no new treaty Kyoto will expire with nothing in its place and the global warming movement collapses for *everyone* worldwide! The warmists can’t believe they’ve let things get to this point, but they have.
And Japan is refusing to go along because they are looking at China just across the water from them, and they see a huge array of new businesses taking away all of their jobs from a nation that has no requirements whatsoever under Kyoto. The last ditch plan to keep an agreement going is to just extend Kyoto instead of a new accord, but this is why Japan has said that there is no way they can ever do this.
But now a host of countries have said they will walk out if Japan doesn’t do this! And that’s why the movement is collapsing worldwide!
I remember the argument about abortion. Let’s keep the government out of our bedroom. It looks like the same people who favored this argument wants the government in all of the other rooms. I guess they figure that the government will respect the boundry and stay out of the bedroom. They sure don’t understand the government very well.
I believe that this is because they don’t understand human nature very well either. After all, if they did, they would understand that capitalism is more compatible with human nature than any other economic system yet devised. I would have thought that American history would have demonstrated this well enough. Once again, it all comes down to seeing what you want to see.
www, what you said about how the global warmists waited so late in the game… brought me to chuckles as it reminded me of how the Democrats waited four years so late in the game before they were FORCED to address the Bush tax rates AND they still don’t want to deal with it.
Schumer and Reid’s “show vote” tactics ain’t gonna work in 2012 anymore as their game is falling on deaf ears as long as our youth are taught the truth.
As much as many prognosticators and so-called experts are saying President Obama is going to have a tough time getting re-elected, the reality of the situation is that President Obama will get re-elected against almost any potential GOP challenger.
However, one candidate cannot be over-looked. If we learned anything from 2008, we should’ve learned that organization and social media skills are paramount to a campaign. No one is actually going to “come out of nowhere”. To become the most powerful person in the world, you have to build quite an organization. That’s why only one person has a chance to beat President Obama in 2012.

I am still trying to figure out the Constitutional basis for federal regulation of bake sales at schools. It cannot be the Commerce Clause as even the most liberal SCOTUS would have trouble morphing a school bake sale into interstate commerce.
I realize the last thing Congress thinks about is the Constitution, but how would they defend a challenge?
