Grostesquely Tacky
What is it about liberals and their tacky ‘Memorials’. What sick person decided to handout T-Shirts at a memorial service?
What, is the family of the slain 9 year old girl supposed to take this home and hang it on the wall? Pathetic.
I’m sorry, I just wasn’t into the pep-rally.
Me, either. Anyone can fool all the people all the time in a 2 hour time frame, imho.
I thought the President’s speech was quite good considering the tacky environment — and I am usually loathe to praise the man and boost his already enormous ego But whoever set the tone for this has no taste or class. Having it themed like this reminded me of all the superficial psychobabble we are subjected to daily by Oprah types and the political media and that you now see as you walk through the YMCAs on the way to a workout. To me, its sort of a form of denial — afraid to mourn. Let’s put on an extremely happy face. Even if people are in a better place and jumping in puddles in heaven, it is still a very sad moment that a little 9 year old girl (and the other victims) didn’t get a chance to live out her potential. Sadness is not a bad thing. Especially at a memorial! Between the viscious attacks by some on the Krugman Left directed at the right and the rally atmosphere at this memorial, I can only conclude that there is something disturbingly wrong with the souls of many in this country today.
And they did the wave…..

The tea shirt thing was a bit odd. I think the University organizers did it. “Together We Thrive” had been a community slogan to get through the ordeal. Jay Tea had a short and balanced statement on the Memorial Service and offers an insight that some of us might miss. In summary:
“No, it wasn’t all somber and morose, but we must remember that commingled with the tragedy were stories of hope. Some genuine heroes have emerged, and the single aspect that must be taken away from this is this: The shooter failed.” – Jay Tea

So, I agree with those who say it was a Memorial service that for the most part came across well; but, was scattered with some odd moments.
It was more than the Tee-shirts…it was the cheering (or booing) and the general upbeat feeling in the auditorium. Why can’t the families of the murdered have some time for grief? Those families in the audience, I noted, were not so much into the upbeat clapping and standing ovations.
Granted, there were some heroes. I have utmost respect for them. In my book there is another assembly, another time, for them.
I had to turn it off…
When you’re an idiot, I guess every event in life is cause for a pep rally…
Everything about this administration is tacky. They act like social trash. No grace, no class, just trashy.
The answer to your question, AJ, about who put the T-shirts out is…..obama’s Organizing For America.
all they needed was some dancing cheerleaders in Skeleton leotards to make the picture complete.
“Together We Thrive” was one of Obama’s Organizing For America’s themes from 2008.

Creepy.
WWS, did you get a “must read” shout out at Lucianne.com?! 🙂
Patterico just said that he heard a rumor that Jared was seen by the mental health professionals.
Had some interesting comments to his thread.
lol, ivehadit, I thought it was the quote of the day!
and this item from the Onion made me laugh out loud:
“Political Pundits Surprisingly Good At Getting Inside Mentally Unbalanced Shooter’s Head”
“It’s almost as though they have some way of knowing, firsthand, exactly what this demented and highly dangerous individual with the eyes of millions upon him is going through.”

[…] That is why I will never forgive them. This was not the time for gross political propaganda. […]
