Condoleeza’s Cold Splash In The Face
Secretary Condoleeza Rice’s speech was a needed dousing of cold water, needed to awake us from a stupor of liberal foreign policies.
Condoleeza was amazing, reminding us that as weary as we may be to lead, the options of chaos or leadership by others with evil intents is much, much worse.
Her recall back to 9-11 and how that singular day changed America forever. Our path is now different, but not necessarily worse. Different is not the same as bad. She was a breathe of fresh air, reminding us to honor those who VOLUNTEER to risk everything to protect all of us.
I had found the speeches boring and shallow tonight (except for the Governor of Puerto Rico who slashed government by 20% and deficits by 90% – the true role model). Condoleeza brought us back to topics of historic importance. It was a needed change to what was a drab and empty night.
She is a gem to this nation, and has truly carved out a special place in history. We will not lead from behind (nor bow to any and all) after November.

What a gal!
A point of view the Mr. Obama does not share.
“Rice spoke of American exceptionalism asserting that there is no barrier to success, not race, religion or nationality. ‘That it does not matter where you came from, it matters where you are going,’ she said to deafening cheers. She took on class warfare and entitlement, noting that Americans are not people of jealousy and distress, but a people of opportunity. ‘Ours has never been a narrative of grievance and entitlement. We have not believed that I am doing poorly because you are doing well. We have not been jealous of one another and never been envious of each other’s success,’ she said to more cheers. ‘Ours has been a belief in opportunity.'”
She is fantastic although I make one criticism which applies less to Condi as it does to the Republican Party in general (and the Dem’s too) which is that when America projects its power, military power, into foreign lands it must always be done with the utmost of caution, the utmost of careful moral consideration, that we do not invade nations for the purpose of projecting our power but rather, we must always do so only when it is based upon the fundamental principles of justice and liberty. I just wish that the Republican Party could stop the saber rattling without also including those qualifications. It is one thing about American foreign policy that needs to be said and said often. But in recent times, it isn’t said at all. And now is the time to say it, since so much of the world community sees Vietnam all the way through to Iraq/Afghanistan as foreign adventurism for corporate interests. Which of course, isn’t entirely true. But America doesn’t have the moral high ground today as it did in 1945. It has been eroding for decades and has, I think, reached a bottom that makes it very necessary for the leaders of US to reiterate the fundamentals of our projection of power. It is for the good humankind, not just to protect our sorry asses and our sorry corporate balance sheets.
All without a teleprompter!
