Liberals Fear The Truth Of The World
You can easily separate out the liberal news outlets from those trying to be balanced today. The balanced reporting cites Bush’s demand that Congress clarify what is admissable under Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions. That over the top liberal outlets are running with “Bush threatens to shut CIA interrogation program”. The truth is the CIA interrogators are the ones threatening to stop because they are the ones at personal legal risk. But another interesting result is coming out of this. As the liberal leaners in both parties are being exposed (John Warner better retire than try for another term in this state), so are the BDS symptoms of the liberal media. Bush is just being brutally honest when he says:
(1) Terrorists are still trying to attack us (e.g., UK Airline Plot)
(2) Agressive interrogation of tough terrorist masterminds foiled numerous plots to kill hundreds or thousands of people
(3) Without agressive interrogation the plots would have succeeded
(4) If Congress doesn’t act the interrogations cannot go forward
This is not a threat by Bush to allow deaths, it is a warning that to not fix this is to open the gates of our country to attackers. But read how these liberal news reports phrase the clear and present danger:
The president’s use of fear to pressure lawmakers came a day after a Republican-led Senate committee defied the White House and approved legislation that would prohibit abusive treatment of detainees.
…
Bush cast the dispute as a choice between protecting the nation or leaving it vulnerable to another terrorist attack.
Is it using fear to tell someone to watch out they are about to drive into a tree or over a cliff? Yes, the warning can shake you up to realize you are about to possibly kill yourself. But it is not using fear to make you do something wrong. The liberal media is so obsessed with beating Bush they would gladly run into the tree or over the cliff. They get upset when reality impinges in their little fantasies of defeating Bush and the glimpse the tree or the chasm ahead. If there was nothing heading our way the ‘fear’ would not work.
The liberals are afraid to face reality. The fear they feel is the dawning realization they are heading for disaster. The anger at being afraid is wrongly aimed at Bush for disrupting their fantasy – again. They thought they had him. They thought this time they had a revolt on the right. The problem is they are afraid because Bush is making a lot more sense than those worried about some mythical fantasy scenarion in the future were the Geneva Conventions might actually stop the horror of terrorism. The idea that we say “pretty please” now would save one innocent life is laughable – and those who scream ‘fear monger’ know it is. Liberals are afraid to face reality, and Bush scares them everytime he brings reality into clear focus. Americans will not die for Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions. Never. We are not afraid of violating that stupid clause. We are afraid some idiots in Washington will let our guard down trying to sanctify the clause as something superior to human life.
The International Community has already defined Article 3—-which basically says you can not interrogate, you can ask questions provided there is a toilet, no sleep depravation, no loud music, no with holding meals. If we define it in a way that says we can interrogate using tools short of torture then we loose the moral high ground. This is bull. How many people have to die for the moral high ground. I heard Graham say we can do those things with out putting it in writing because we promise we will not prosecute people who do the interrogation. What a sleaze bag.
Why do we knuckle down to the international community? What can they possibly do to us in retailition? Why should we even care what they think? They have always resented us and would pull us down if they could. Why should any of us die for their opinion?
It is too bad some republicans? on the intelligence committee cannot see the danger we are in. And the people on the coasts (the ones who are against doing anything to protect ourselves…the ones who elect these jerks in the senate and house) had better remember that they will be the first ones invaded and killed if there is an invasion. Even if they don’t believe there is a war on terror, why would they take a chance that there might be? Maybe they have more faith in George Bush than they think.
Just keeping track here, nothing related of importance , yeah , sure , right
A British man accused of a fertiliser bomb plot has told an Old Bailey jury he was “happy” when he heard about the 11 September attacks on the US.
Omar Khyam, 24, of Crawley, West Sussex, is the first of seven Britons accused of the plot to give evidence in their trial.
He admitted travelling to Pakistan in 2000 for guerrilla training in weapons and reconnaissance tactics…
Khyam, his younger brother Shujah-Ud-Din Mahmood, 18, and Waheed Mahmood, 33, from Crawley, West Sussex, along with Jawad Akbar, 22, from Crawley and Uxbridge, Anthony Garcia, 27, from Ilford, east London, Nabeel Hussain, 20, from Horley, Surrey, and Salahuddin Amin, 30, from Luton, Bedfordshire, are accused of conspiring to cause an explosion likely to endanger life contrary to section 3 (1)(a) of the Explosive Substances Act 1883.
Just another random quote here, not that it means anything
In a statement released through the White House, Lady Thatcher said: “This heinous attack upon America was an attack upon us all. With America, Britain stands in the front line against Islamist fanatics who hate our beliefs, our liberties and our citizens. We must not falter. We must not fail.â€
Just a snippet of opinion, but somehow I like it. But that’s just me.
right on with Warner–Ditto on McCain. This should put the final nail on his presidential ambitions as a Repub candidate. God forbid he should be our next Perot! The Dems could really enjoy that.
Graham keeps saying that its for the protection of American soldiers That might apply for the next time we invade England, Germany, Poland or Australia. The majority of the rest of the world has so little regard for individual life that Geneva is meaningless. Worked real well with Japan and Viet Nam! (Seen a Mexican jail lately? and they along with honorless France are our allies!)
These next two elections may be the most important of our lifetimes, and the current antics of these 4, plus Chafee, Stevens, Specter are distractions from that that make it difficult to react positively to your earlier plea that we must accept a diversity of views within the party. The only thing keeping me focused is the thought of Speaker Pelosi. Hurry, November!
