Dems Using Dead And Injured Soldiers As Propaganda Props

Published by at 8:18 am under All General Discussions

The liberal Democrat leaders are about to embark on a huge in mistake:

A House committee scheduled hearings Tuesday on the string of misleading statements by the military following the friendly fire death of Pat Tillman in Afghanistan and the kidnapping and rescue of Pvt. Jessica Lynch in Iraq.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform announced it will hold the hearing April 24 as part of an investigation into whether the misinformation stemmed from a government strategy to mislead the public.

Congress will not find out anything that is not already in the record, so the clear purpose of this is to bash the military. Friendly fire is a horrific fact of war, and people do not respond well to the fact they may have killed our own. When your entire responsibility is to your buddies and your comrades, friendly fire is the worst kind of mistake. Being killed is probably preferrable. So all Libs are going to do is use the corpse of Pat Tillman to try and besmirch our military over a painful and terrible mistake nobody feels good about. And for that they will be viewed as the partisan vultures they are. Becase only vultures feed on the corpses of the dead for sustanence and power. As usual, the Libs in Congress have no moral or ethical bounds to their lust for power and revenge. This will be a pathetic sight to watch, and my heart goes out to the families of these brave souls who sacrificed for all of us. They deserve better than to be props in a partisan smear campaign.

I believe what the Democrats are forgetting here is that they may be playing to their Loony lefties with this “show”, but the majority of the American population supports the US military. There are many active duty and retired military members who already have a distrust for the Democrats and this dog and pony production will certainly do no more than reinforce ill feelings which already exist.

Shame on these elected officials that they would use the death of one of the nations bravest for political gain. I do hope the Republicans show up for this “investigation” and rather than question the members of the military question their Democratic counterparts as to why they are even conducting these hearings.

    Here they go…..even lower.

  3. For Enforcement says:

Agreed, I don’t know of anything good that can come out of these hearings unless it shows the pandering for votes of the Dems. I hope it doesn’t come out that his brother may even have been the one that shot him. I know he was in the group shooting, so if he didn’t it is just luck. It was clearly a terrible accident and not the first time something like it has happened.
But the Dems with BDS can’t think straight.

  4. The Macker says:

And this is a congress that can’t even manage itself !

  5. Enlightened says:

AJ – Strangely I saw a news tickler that reported the number of INJURED soldiers in Iraq, I guess in lieu of KILLED soldiers, so the MSM can keep the “Iraq the Disaster” meme going.

  6. Soothsayer says:

    The Dems are going lower?

Who is is that lied about the manner of Tillman’s death from friendly fire? The top brass and the president, that’s who!

The president lied about it even after he was warned that the bogus story cooked up by Army brass was questionable.

When the public finds out the extent of lying out of the DoD and brass in the field, they will be outraged, all right, but it won’t be aimed at the Democrats – it’ll be properly focused on the liars in the Bush Admisistration and their enablers in the military.

  7. Terrye says:

    sooth:

The point is that all that information is out there. There are friendly fire accidents in every war. All of them. And it seems to me that certain people are getting a certain ghoulish delight out of all this because they think they can use this to slap the military around. The Congress would do well to police and manage itself as well as the military.

  8. Terrye says:

And you know something else? Tilman was proud of his uniform and his service, it is demeaning to him and his memory to use him this way.

And for any leftie to call Bush a liar is just projection.

  9. Enlightened says:

Naw – The left is just doing what they do – grasping onto anything to bolster their Bush Lied meme.

Tillman was famous for going to fight for his country. The left hated him for that. Then he found out he didn’t like being in a war. The left started to love him for that. Then he was killed by friendly fire. The left really LOVED that.

Had it been enemy fire there would be no story. He would still be dead. They would still scream Bush lied. Tillman has a bigger name than the other 3000 soldiers that have died , who apparently didn’t even exist to the left.

  10. Terrye says:

It was Tilman’s brother that was really against the war. After all this is Afghanistan we are talking about, the good war.

  11. Soothsayer says:

There are friendly fire accidents in every war.

Sure there are. Human beings make mistakes – especially in the fog of war. But – why LIE about it? After the fact, and with ample time for reflection, why did the top brass lie to the public, to themselves, and to Tillman’s family?

And, Terry, let’s be clear about Pat Tillman:

Spc. Russell Baer, who served with Tillman for more than a year in Iraq and Afghanistan, told one anecdote that took place during the March 2003 invasion as the Rangers moved up through southern Iraq.

“I can see it like a movie screen,” Baer said. “We were outside of (a city in southern Iraq) watching as bombs were dropping on the town. We were at an old air base, me, Kevin and Pat, we weren’t in the fight right then. We were talking. And Pat said, ‘You know, this war is so f***ing illegal.’ And we all said, ‘Yeah.’ That’s who he was. He totally was against Bush.”
