Democrats have been trying to surrender Iraq since Joe Wilson first made his lame claims about faked evidence only weeks after we succeeded in taking Baghdad. Their need to have America lose is quite impressive. But one wonders who deep this need will go? It is one thing to leave our Muslim/Arab allies in Iraq high and dry and at the mercy of al Qaeda. But will the Dems leave Spain and France to fall as well?

Spain’s security service has warned the government that Spain and France are most in danger of being attacked by a north African wing of al Qaeda and that the group is active in Spain, El Pais reported on Sunday.

Quoting recent reports from intelligence service CNI, El Pais said members of the newly named al Qaeda Organisation in the Islamic Maghreb were working in Spain to raise money and recruit fighters to send to Iraq and training camps in Africa.

The CNI report said the organisation, formerly known as the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), could absorb other groups in Morocco, Libya, Tunisia, and that they would be more dangerous united than if they were working individually.

Sadly I think they would. I think they would blame this on Bush, even though the goal of returning Spain to the Muslim Caliphate has been a stated goal of al Qaeda’s since before 9-11. Liberals seem to have no memories, thus they have no concept of what is happening around us. And would they leave our ally Britain out to hang by themselves (unlike how FDR supported Churchill)? Who knows. If al Qaeda is true to their word the Liberals will be shaking in their boots:

AL-QAEDA leaders in Iraq are planning the first “large-scale” terrorist attacks on Britain and other western targets with the help of supporters in Iran, according to a leaked intelligence report.

Spy chiefs warn that one operative had said he was planning an attack on “a par with Hiroshima and Nagasaki” in an attempt to “shake the Roman throne”, a reference to the West.

For those tracking the Litvinenko saga recall (a) Litvinenko died a martyr to the Chechen Islamo-Fascist cause (not bad for white guy) and (b) Po-210 is useful in nuclear bomb triggers and (c) Berezovsky once claimed to have stopped a nuke from getting into the hands of terrorists. Even if the Litvinenko incident has nothing to do with terrorism, it is clear that al Qaeda is ready to hit Europe because they have to. The Surge is turning the Arab street against al Qaeda since al Qaeda has been busy primarily killing muslims of late. When a majority of Sunni tribes ally with the Iraqi government we know al Qaeda is on the ropes, and the need a spectacular hit to prove they still have what it takes to win against the West. France and Britain would be plumb targets to reinvigorate the Islamo-Fascists and put the liberals into a panic effort to surrender ASAP. And the threat is real and home grown:

The report, produced earlier this month and seen by The Sunday Times, appears to provide evidence that Al-Qaeda is active in Iran and has ambitions far beyond the improvised attacks it has been waging against British and American soldiers in Iraq.

There is no evidence of a formal relationship between Al-Qaeda, a Sunni group, and the Shi’ite regime of President Mah-moud Ahmadinejad, but experts suggest that Iran’s leaders may be turning a blind eye to the terrorist organisation’s activities.

The intelligence report also makes it clear that senior Al-Qaeda figures in the region have been in recent contact with operatives in Britain.

It follows revelations last year that up to 150 Britons had travelled to Iraq to fight as part of Al-Qaeda’s “foreign legion”. A number are thought to have returned to the UK, after receiving terrorist training, to form sleeper cells.

9-11 took only fraction of the terrorist the 150 number represents. And with a much smaller country to inflict pain on, the results could be devastating. The terrorists are cornered and will go all out – they live to die for their cause.
