Democrats’ Blood
The Democrats should have sent the DOA Bill on the Iraq war to Bush for a swift veto, but instead they grandstanded for the weekend news shows – as did their cohorts al Qaedaan other insurgent groups who wanted to show Dems and America what MIGHT happen if we stay in Iraq:
A suicide car bomb exploded Saturday in the Shiite holy city of Karbala as the streets were packed with people heading for evening prayers, killing at least 63 and wounding scores near some of the country’s most sacred shrines.
The reason these attacks are being stepped up and Musims being killed is al Qaeda and want us to leave and want show what WILL happen when we leave. This is the result of the surrender signal Reid and Pelosi and Democrats sent the world. The insugents were trying to lie low when the Surge was first annoiunced. But when it became clear the Surrendercrats were going to force a defeat the violence erupted to provide support to their cause. The Dems wanted to be the party of defeat, and defeat in war is always bloody and deadly. The Kmher Rouge, who the dems empowered with their flight from Vietnam, will look like saints compared to al Qaeda’s victory slaughter plans.
Addendum: Instead of the Surrendercrats plan to leave the good people in Iraq to the Butchers of al Qaeda, the best path out of Iraq is through Ramadi and Anbar province and the clear progress being made there (with clear work yet to be done)
Anbar Province, long the lawless heartland of the tenacious Sunni Arab resistance, is undergoing a surprising transformation. Violence is ebbing in many areas, shops and schools are reopening, police forces are growing and the insurgency appears to be in retreat.
“Many people are challenging the insurgents,” said the governor of Anbar, Maamoon S. Rahid, though he quickly added, “We know we haven’t eliminated the threat 100 percent.”
Many Sunni tribal leaders, once openly hostile to the American presence, have formed a united front with American and Iraqi government forces against Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia. With the tribal leaders’ encouragement, thousands of local residents have joined the police force. About 10,000 police officers are now in Anbar, up from several thousand a year ago. During the same period, the police force here in Ramadi, the provincial capital, has grown from fewer than 200 to about 4,500, American military officials say.

On the roof of the main building, Capt. Jason Arthaud, commander of Company B, First Battalion, Sixth Marines, said the building had taken no sniper fire since November. “Just hours of peace and quiet,” he deadpanned. “And boredom.”
Violence has fallen swiftly throughout Ramadi and its sprawling rural environs, residents and American and Iraqi officials said. Last summer, the American military recorded as many as 25 violent acts a day in the Ramadi region, ranging from shootings and kidnappings to roadside bombs and suicide attacks. In the past several weeks, the average has dropped to four acts of violence a day, American military officials said.
Read the whole thing. It paints a balanced picture of success that has the possibility to be lasting – if we stick with it. But what is clear is the choice. Surrendercrats want us to sit by and watch the bombings we see in the first story and let people simply massacre each other while al Qaeda gains strength. President Bush and General Petraeus want to use the Anbar model as a path to real success (not the crazy act of saying the word as we leave the moderate, democrat loving Iraqis to their brutal slaughter). Surrendercrats vs. American Resolve. Surrendercrats aligned with Bin Laden’s al Qaeda in preferred resolution. Surrendercrats vs. America itself. All because of terminal Bush Derangement Syndrome and a lust for power.
All well and good IF you – and George Bush – are right. Unfortunately, if George Bush is right about this – it will be the first thing he’s right about in the last 6 years, and if you’re wrong, and the neocons pipedream of spreading democracy at the point of a gun is incorrect, the bloody deaths of American troops between this point in time and the time when reality finally dawns on Bush will be not on the hands of the “Surrendercrats” – but rather on the hands of the “Warpublicans”.
In the REALITY based community, Gen. William Odoms, 3-star general and National Security Advisor to Ronald Reagan advises the president to seize this moment for a basic change in course and sign the [funding] bill the Congress has sent him.
To whom should America listen, the baying hounds of the rightwing blogosphere – or Ronald Reagan’s security advisor? Odom explains:
The challenge we face today is not how to win in Iraq; it is how to recover from a strategic mistake: invading Iraq in the first place. The war could never have served American interests, but it has served Iran’s interest by revenging Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Iran in the 1980s and enhancing Iran’s influence within Iraq. It has also served al Qaeda’s interests, providing a much better training ground than did Afghanistan, allowing it to build its ranks far above the levels and competence that otherwise would have been possible.
We cannot ‘win’ a war that serves our enemies interests and not our own. Thus continuing to pursue the illusion of victory in Iraq makes no sense. We can now see that it never did.
A wise commander in this situation normally revises his objectives and changes his strategy, not just marginally, but radically. Nothing less today will limit the death and destruction that the invasion of Iraq has unleashed.
No effective new strategy can be devised for the United States until it begins withdrawing its forces from Iraq. Only that step will break the paralysis that now confronts us. Withdrawal is the pre-condition for winning support from countries in Europe that have stood aside and other major powers including India, China, Japan, Russia.
It will also shock and change attitudes in Iran, Syria, and other countries on Iraq’s borders, making them far more likely to take seriously new U.S. approaches, not just to Iraq, but to restoring regional stability and heading off the spreading chaos that our war has caused.
The bill that Congress approved this week, with bipartisan support, setting schedules for withdrawal, provides the President an opportunity to begin this kind of strategic shift, one that defines regional stability as the measure of victory, not some impossible outcome.

Let’s hope Petreaus can hold those areas once taken. I’d hate to think that everything that we’ve done so far in Iraq has been destroyed as a result of our pullout.
Rick Moran and others feel that time is not on our side. Other than the Democrats’ defeating efforts, techology helps put time on our side. If the Democrats were not interfering with Petreuas’ plan, would people recognize that technology will help? These insurgents will continue for as long as they can but we have to hold them back. When we cut and run, there’s no holding them back.
Both Odom and the Iraq Study Group proposed that withdrawal of troops would actually lessen sectarian violence. Again – if you’re wrong – and based on Bush’s track record, that’s likely – then you will be responsible for the blood – not the people arguing for withdrawal.
If the people of Iraq are the enemy – then who cares? If the people of Iraq are NOT our enemy, then why are we artillery barraging Baghdad?

Sorry Soothie, stop reading theories and look at what has happened. Anbar is a success and if it can be replicated it will be the end of the Dmeocrat party for ever. I personally hope it is a success – for the Iraqis and America. We don’t need losers.

An Anti-American, Pro-Jihadi “American” (and I use the term lightly, when applying it to Soothie); someone who delights, nay relishes so-called American failures, the death of US Military members, etc.
Someone who doesn’t blame the Jihadis and Salafiyyah who attacked American, and murdered 3000 innocent people on 9/11; but blames instead US, Bush, Halliburton, etc.

You do not know what you are talking about. Honestly, the Iraq Study Group supports the surge and Baker and others have made it plain that a pullout of troops would be a disaster, for the Iraqis, the region and the US. To say they said otherwise is a lie. I read that first line in your post and just stopped reading. That is how silly it is.
And you know what soothie? Almost a quarter of those deaths has been from noncombat related incidents. In all this time less than 3,000 soldiers have actually been killed. In the past, that would not have even been considered a war.
Simply put, Soothie is irreversibly stupid. Don’t bother.
So, according to Soothsayer, success in war means nobody dies. Apparently that’s his standard because when someone indicates that a military operation was a success, he responds with “Tell that to the people who DIED!”
You know, somehow that’s almost as stupid as Sheryl Crow’s proclamation from a few years back, stating that the way to avoid war was to just not have any enemies.
Look, it is just not worth reading the ss’s posts except for entertainment value. Period. This “person” does not inhabit the same reality, with their cup always being half full. Who cares, really?

Someone remarked that our 18-year old sons and daughters would be safer in Iraq than in New York. It’s about 5 times more dangerous to be in New York than to be in IRaq.

The Democrats are the enemy within our own borders. The MSM has become their propaganda unit. Al Qaeda does not need to come to America to destroy us – Pelosi, Murtha and people like Southie are ready to do it for them. For all we know they can be working together – that crazy cleric al-Sadr, who fled to Iran when the surge started, sounded yesterday like he was running for the Democrat presidential nomination.
If the people in this country do not start to stand up to them and push them back we are in serious trouble. The Dems have more in common with Stalin and Bin Laden then they do with Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln – and there is something very wrong with that picture

I said this on day one of the Iraqi invasion. “We have just created a terrorist magnet right in the center of terrorisms ground zero.”
They are streaming into Iraq to battle the great satan, and they are being cut to pieces. Instead of concentrating on the continental US or our embassies they have taken the bait and are now being drawn in to attack our military which is much better armed, and prepared to deal with them then the average American citizen. Will the administration ever come out and say that??? Hell no, we want them to come to us.
How many top AQ, and other terrorists leaders have we nailed since we’ve been in Iraq? Now compare that number to how many our intelligence community was able to nail searching for them all over the world. Bin Laden has to fight us in Iraq and win, or he loses any chance at pulling in more terrorists and finances for his plots. You can counter with we are creating more terrorists by killing them, but where did the original ones come from? Is this something that just popped up and came into existance because of the US? That argument is flat out false. When you are constantly killing terrorists, especially in large numbers, recruits will dwindle. Sure you’ll get the ones who are more then willing to strap a bomb on and go blow up a market. Those kinds are easy to get especially if you have any skill at brain washing. The operational commanders though are the hard ones to come by.
They are smart, and in any other society they are the ones who would be running their own business. These are the guys we capture and get info from and roll up more terrorists cells. Eventually the commanders are going to realize it might be better off for them to start selling cell phones and sattelite dishes in their own stores, then trying to co-ordinate attacks that will cause them to get rolled up in the next sweep.
We have decided where the front line of the war is, and not the enemy. That is half the battle, we now they are coming to Iraq to fight, and not a mall in home town USA. If we have to leave because of Democrats surrenduring then the US will need to turn every place into an armed fortress. Think about that, remove the boot from their necks in Iraq, and you have terrorist dropping mortar rounds into an NFL, or MLB game. No way to stop them once they are here.
Scaulen, the more you post the truth and goodness about what has happened in Iraq, the more you rile up ss. He is a bds and dnc and sorosite devotee. They KNOW what our game plan has been and that it is clever and THAT is what they hate the most because it makes them further a party of irrelevance.
Don’t confuse ss with someone interested in a good-faith discussion here with us all. He/she is not interested AT ALL….just wants to spout the sorosite talking points all over webland.
For me, ss is one of those sorosites for which I have no use for their values nor manners, not to mention their lack of civility which is shredding America to pieces. Again.
They inhabit a reality born of pathology, neurosis and dysfunction, imho. And they are cons/rogues of the highest order.
