The War Front In Diyala
Those of us watching Iraq know the last battle will be in Diyala. So does al Qaeda. And just as the Battle of the Bulge in WWII was a last desperate push by the Nazi to try and avoid their final defeat, it is no surprise al Qaeda will try the same thing to try and break the will of the US and Iraqi forces:
Roadside bombs killed eight American soldiers in three attacks Sunday in Diyala province and Baghdad, and a car bomb claimed 30 lives in a wholesale food market in a part of the Iraqi capital where sectarian tensions are on the rise.
This IS NOT sectarian violence – it is the jihadists attacking the moderate Muslims. It is the civil war we need so Muslims decide whether they are going to be for peace or bloody annihilation. We will see these days. But we will also see more days where we nail al Qaeda – as long as the Surrendercrats don’t get a chance to hand Bin Laden his win.
Pray for our guys, they are brave indeed.
Remember that Patreaus said things will get worse before they get better.
I will pray for our guys.
McClatchy newspapers says:
So yes, as we get aggressive and turn up the heat on these animals and go after them where they live, our casualties are going to go up. Iraqi police and Army are paying an even higher price. Their casualties doubled last month. Over 500 police and IA were killed in April.
So be ready for the higher numbers because it is a direct consequence of being more aggressive against the murderers. It is to be expect. Our troops are aware of this and believe it is worth the price. It is already paying dividends in the high-value targets that are being taken out.
A change in tone from the LA Times?
I thought I would never see the LA Times print the words “Tipping Point” in a context of it being in our favor.
