Victor Davis Hanson Is Fed Up

And who could blame him? After snarky little reporters continuously ask ridiculous questions to Western leaders on how we cause terrorism – who could blame him? Here’s how VDH puts it

After the July 7 London bombings, some in the United Kingdom wondered if the bombing was in retaliation for Britain having troops in Iraq. Perhaps, they suggested, a withdrawal, emulating the Spanish appeasement after the March 2004 bombings in Madrid, would prevent further attacks. Now there has been another series of explosions in London.

There are two flaws in such thinking.

First, after the Spanish ordered their soldiers home, the emboldened jihadists plotted further murders — most notably, the foiled plot to assassinate members of the Spanish High Court in Madrid.

Second, after the London bombings, the al Qaeda-linked group that took credit for the carnage threatened, “We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all crusader governments that they will receive the same punishment if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.”

How true. The Islamo-Fascists want us to leave them alone, so they can grow stonger on WMD technology, so they can, in the future, remake this planet in the image of their blood thirsty god.

In the West, the new orthodoxy is that removing the theocratic Taliban in Afghanistan was the “correct” war that enjoyed widespread European and American support. In contrast, George W. Bush, in a “unilateral” and “pre-emptive” fashion, unnecessarily attacked the “secular” Saddam Hussein.

There is truth in this – a deep truth. And I think it deserves extra focus. It was OK to take out the religious fanatics but not the secular strong man….

Interesting that this thinking is primarily true on the leftward fringes (which includes the established MSM). I am beginning to wonder if these people who fear and loathe religious expression of all forms relate more to Saddam than we are aware. I am wondering if the fustration now rampant in the circles of the left, due to losing majority support for their liberal/socialist ideologies, has not driven them to contemplate stronger, more extreme measures to reign in people of religion. Or am I too far reaching in my suspicions, or of how far the left would go to squash the right in this country? Who knows. But it is strange – that connection in alignment with Afghan good, Iraq bad.

I digress, though. When are people going to face the reality of the murderous desires these terrorists harbor? How many Daniel Pearl’s and Nick Berg’s do you need to see before you understand what these people hold up as an altruistic character feature? How many suicide bombings must happen in places where families and kids like to go before you understand what these animals value?

Speaking of Israel, shortly after the London attacks, a suicide bomber in Netanya, perhaps in sympathy with his kindred spirits in Britain, walked over to a group of women and blew them up.

He killed five persons, including two 16-year-old girls.

Is there something of humanity in these terrorists to connect to, to salvage, to respect as equals in order to consider listening to their greivances?

If many progressives in the Netherlands expected the Dutch-Moroccan Mohammed Bouyeri would cite past ill-treatment by Westerners, they were sorely disappointed.

Instead, the psychopath icily advised the mother of the murdered van Gogh: “I have to admit I do not feel for you, I do not feel your pain” and “I cannot feel for you. … because I believe you are an infidel.”

No. There is nothing inside this Islamo-fascist robot. He sounds like a Borg drone.

Well, the “surrender now” crowd is getting on everyone’s nerves as they plead for return to their little nirvana’s prior to 9-11. A nirvana only made possibly through self delusion, avoidance of seeing Al Quaeda turning towards world domination, and ignorance of the ramifications of not paying attention to this challenge. The “surrender now” crowd never had the desire to stand up to terrorism in the first place. We know that, and they should know that we know that. But all these cries for everyone to runaway, like they want to do, is ridiculous.

No liberal, anti-war fanatic is being asked to fight – we have an all volunteer military force. And there are plenty willing to fight for our freedoms. The liberal fringes should simply give up pretending anyone is listening to them and sit down or talk about something else. Screaming that the rest of us don’t think like them is simply not working – and it is really annoying.

UPDATE:

And sure enough, the ‘surrender now’ crowd is out in force today. Here is one title I will use as an example of clueless naivette (yes, straight from the Department of Redundancy Department) in the leftward fringes.

Muslims’ distorted view of U.S. shows we must win battle for hearts and minds

Sorry Pal, it is the Islamo-fascist Muslims’ distorted view on their role here on earth – what their job in life is – that causes them to murder innocent people. It is the moderate Muslims’ fear of these fanatical, blood thirsty nutcases which makes them cower, and rationalize they are not cowering, and end up convincing themselves they are part of the better good of Islam. That is safer than having to fight. The only distorted view of the US by Islamo-Fascist Muslims’ we need to correct is the one where they think we can be beaten. We need to correct that so they understand we will win this battle by kicking their collective butts – big time. When they understand that ,we will have communicated what needs to be communicated.

UPDATE II 2:15 PM Eastern:

Seems people want to help me make my points today. As if on cue, a Muslim Cleric clarifies the Islamo-Fascist perception of their role in the world:

He condemned the killing of all innocent civilians but described attacks on British and U.S. troops in Muslim countries as “pro-life” and justified.

In an interview with Reuters, Bakri described Osama bin Laden, leader of the radical Islamist network al Qaeda, as “a sincere man who fights against evil forces.”

Bakri said he would like Britain to become an Islamic state but feared he would be deported before his dream was realized.

“I would like to see the Islamic flag fly, not only over number 10 Downing Street, but over the whole world,” he said.

Are we clear now? [Crystal]

I’ve argued before that it is a fool’s errand to try to be tolerant with the intolerant, particularly if the intolerant are intent upon your death. We cannot state enough that our battle is not with Islam as a whole, lest we be misunderstood, but it is with a branch of radical Islam, and the mainstream must become more vocal in its condemnation, or face the consequences.
