US-NATO To Go Hunting In Pakistan?
The world is waking up to the fact George Bush as very little time left in office and if the US pulls back from the war on terror, as the Surrendercrats would like us to do, many countries face a terrible backlash and instability if they allow Islamo Fascist forces to remain inside their territories. Nations like Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt can withstand such a change. Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Pakistan may not be able to. So it is no surprise we are going to see a large scale effort to decimate the terrorist locations in many countries over the next two summers (when military operations are the most feasible).
And it looks like Pakistan may be starting the effort now:
Pakistan’s president, General Pervez Musharraf, was warned this month that Islamic militants and Taliban fighters were rapidly spreading beyond the country’s lawless tribal areas and that without “swift and decisive action,” the growing militancy could engulf the rest of the country.
The warning came in a document from the Interior Ministry, which said Pakistan’s security forces in North-west Frontier Province abutting the tribal areas were outgunned and outnumbered and had forfeited authority to the Taliban and their allies.
“The ongoing spell of active Taliban resistance has brought about serious repercussions for Pakistan,” said the 15-page document, which was shown to The New York Times. “There is a general policy of appeasement toward the Taliban, which has further emboldened them.”
The word is probably getting out that there is a good chance the Surrendercrats could win in 2008, especially after the immigration bill debacle destroyed GOP alliances with Hispanics and moderates. Pakistan (and other countries like Iraq) have no alternatives but to do what they can while the GOP still has a President in DC. So it is not a shock to me Pakistan may open their northern territories to US-NATO intervention – and possibly the capture or death of al-Qaeda’s two top people: Bin Laden and Zawahiri:
Since last September, North Atlantic Treaty Organization forces in Afghanistan have been pressing Islamabad for the right to conduct extensive hot-pursuit operations into Pakistan to target Taliban and al-Qaeda bases.
According to Asia Times Online contacts, NATO and its US backers have gotten their wish: coalition forces will start hitting targets wherever they might be.
Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf is expected to make an important announcement on extremism during an address to the nation in the next day or two.
The quick decimation of Islamo Fascists is really the best and only insurance policy for a GOP shellacking in 2008. We could be witnessing a repeat of 1992-1994 where America tries out the Democrarts only to find they are still as impiotent as always. But no one can predict what will happen in politically in America over the next 2-6 years, which is disturbing news enough.
At least Strata tacitly acknowledges whom he called “pummelled”
a day ago are more powerfulthan ever!
Would that he would acknowledge,as the AT piece does, Mushareff
by co-operating with the alien interlopers,is creating greater risk
than ever of his own upheaval. One “mistaken”hit on one mosque
could send blowback America’s way–and don’t bet on the economy
and the bravado of Americans withstanding it and continuing to
sponsor an Islamophobic Empire.
center:
You sound like a regular John Bircher. I bet that on December 7, 1941 you would have demanded that FDR apologize to the Japanese and promise not to bother them anymore. Just another case of blowback.
And we all know that your inclinations would have lead you to feel a real soft spot for the Germans. I bet you would have blamed the war in Europe on the Jews and the British, after all that is what the America Firsters like Lindbergh did.
We have always had your kind and your kind has always been wrong.
You sound like a regular John Bircher. I bet that on December 7, 1941 you would have demanded that FDR apologize to the Japanese and promise not to bother them anymore. Just another case of blowback.
No, he’s not a Bircher. He’s an out-and-out skinhead, looking forward toa glorious race war that will make America safe for white trash welfare cheats.
Right.
Let’s talk about the “don’t fight back it only riles ’em up” theory.
Pakistan has a strong islamist movement that not only created
the Taleban but is strong inside parts of it’s army and intelligence
services. Musharaff has already partially surrendered to these
guys, giving the Taleban a small country to live and prosper in
on the borders of Afghanistan, and it is likely that most of Al-Qaeda’s
top doo-dahs live there.
Waziristan and the other “tribal agencies” are not just a pain for
NATO in Afghanistan, they are a direct threat to whatever moderate
elements remain in control of Pakistan’s government – and
the fifty small atomic warheads that Pakistan has.
Does Al-Qaeda want those warheads? Well, that old question
about the Pope applies. Their easiset path to getting nukes is to
topple Musharaff, and now we get those typical pleas to do nothing,
because if a mosque gets hit by a NATO missile, the Taleban
will (righteously in the view of the Left)rise and seize control of
Islamabad, the Pakistani Army, and those nukes. This view holds
that if Musharaff does nothing, and is nice then the Taleban
will not do the above but rather live out the rest of their days in
happy 8th century contentment.
We haven’t seen that strategy work anywhere else, Gaza is the
latest example that comes to mind.
So Musharaff may as well fight. He may fight and be defeated,
but he is already half way to defeat even now,
So what happens if Al-Qaeda gets those nukes? A few of them
will go off in the USA and Europe. And that will be the start of a
very bad day for islam. If the Left thinks America will just absorb
the punishment and cry – then again they make a tragic miscalculation
as they hope for something – anything – to hurt President Bush.
I can only see a NATO invasion of Waziristan as good news
and likely to bring peace instead of a small nuclear war.
