Hollywood Goes Silent – And Nobody Cares
For a strike to work you need to make sure what you are pulling from the public the public will miss. Hollywood’s stories have become so stale, so low-brow, so predictable it is hard to find something original. We watched commercials for the NBC comedy line up tonight and just shook our heads. Wasn’t funny (Alec Baldwin saying “I thought you made love like an ugly women”). We are not going to watch and I doubt anyone of any import or with a life will.
So what happens if Hollywood strikes and nobody cares? I am a big 24 fan and I understand it is in jeopardy of not coming out this season. Trust me, I will survive. I will find time to watch movies, read a book or two, practice some guitar, do something with the kids, ride my bicycle. Oh yeah – I could blog too. There are not enough hours in the day to do all I want. So taking TV out of the picture is no big deal to me. Some people are going to have a rude wake up call. Life on this little old planet Earth will do just fine without TV new shows.
And blogs who obsess about TV shows or Hollywood and who are going silent in sympathy for the writers strike are also going to find out the same thing. I am smart enough to know if this blog went down tomorrow, the planet would still be orbiting the Sun, the days and nights would continue, and life would proceed on. This will be the biggest dud of a strike in history.
The only place that seems to care is HuffPo. They are doing about 6 to 8 posts on it a day and have addition 2 or 3 time a day situation updates.
updates on Hollywood? Sheesh.
