NYTimes Smearing Roberts’ Children?

Published by at 10:04 am under All General Discussions,Filibuster Showdown

A long trip usually means I do not go back and try and recap news of the week, but this subject begs the exception. You think the MSM could sink no lower, then they get so desparate to try and stop the nation’s transition to the right of center they cross another line in simple decency and respect. The NYTimes has admitted investigating the situation surrounding the adoption of Judge Robert’s children – with some incredibly lame and dense excuses to boot:

On Thursday, the online Drudge Report revealed that a New York Times reporter had made inquiries about the Roberts children, Josephine and Jack, ages 5 and 4.

According to recent news reports, the judge and his wife, Jane, wed in 1996 when both were 41 and adopted the children in 2000.

On Friday, The Times said no one had ordered an investigation of the adoptions, calling the inquiry part of a routine effort to “report extensively on the life and career” of a nominee for high office.

“Our reporters made initial inquiries about the adoptions, as they did about many other aspects of his background. They did so with great care, understanding the sensitivity of the issue,” said Times spokesman Toby Usnik. “We have not pursued the issue after the initial inquiries, which detected nothing irregular about the adoptions.”

I am sorry, but this does not excuse anything. The NYTimes should NOT be investigating children of nominees and officials as a matter of regular recourse. They should NOT be investigating the adoptions of any child – period, unless they have probably cause for something illegal or immoral happening to the children. That way no rumor or half truth spin can ‘accidently’ be let out into the media by people who have no scruples. And the NYTimes demonstrates they have no scruples just by crossing this line.

What did John Robert’s children do to warrent an investigation? Nothing – except to be in the care of two loving people who are political opponents to the NYTimes’ world view. Recall, the NYTimes is against the unwarrented search and monitoring of people who may be terrorists – but they sure don’t mind investigating some kids who belong to the political opposition.

It is time to close up the NYTimes, unless they state they will never investigate children of political leaders and candidates without some serious evidence of criminal actions which put the children at risk. A police state is usually run with the assistance of the ‘media’ and the NYTimes has demonstrated too many times it is ready to be such a viscious political arm of the left.

There is nothing left for the NYTimes to emulate from the ‘press’ of historical tyrannical states after this act of investigating children. They run personal rumours as fact (think of all the Bush drinking, lying, stupid stories), they promulgate political propoganda (think of all the pro abortion, pro taxes, pro big brother government stories), and they try and rewrite history to their political advantage (think of Clinton and Reagan historical perspectives). Now the feel they can intimidate through threatening acts against family members. They are becoming more and more like some joke copy of Hussein’s mouthpiece Baghdad Bob (recall all the predictions about democrat wins in 2000, 2002, and 2004).

Close it up I say.

UPDATE 3:30 PM Eastern:

Drudge is now posting the ugly truth about the NewPravdaTimes:

TIMES editors were determined to find any possible legal irregularities in the adoptions, insiders claim.

FOXNEWS’s Brit Hume reported late last week how the TIMES has been asking lawyers that specialize in adoption cases for advice on how to get into the sealed court records:

“Sources familiar with the matter tell FOXNEWS that at least one lawyer turned the TIMES down flat, saying that any effort to pry into adoption case records, which are always sealed, would be reprehensible.

I do not think it is beyond the pale at all to call this pure and simple cruel intimidation aimed at emotionally harming Roberts’ children. The NewPravdaTimes is now modeling itself after the great propoganda rags of Stalin, Hitler and Castro….

Where else are the willing to sink too?

UPDATE 4:15 PM Eastern:

The NewPravdaTimes seems to have learned a vital lesson, if these commentaries are any indication. First, one that says “”STEP AWAY FROM THE CHILDREN!” . Here’s a comment that asks “How low can you go?”. More outrage here. While these are small indications, I think we will see a major backlash in the making.
