Obama Cannot Recover From Wright
A lot of people were noting today how Obama royally screwed up his handling of his anti-American, anti-white pastor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. They note is lame lie that he was not aware of the inflammatory and hate-filled lies from Reverend Wright is a joke. And it was such an easy lie to bust – as NewsMax demonstrated today:
On this particular July Sabbath morning, only a handful of white men — aside from a few members of Obama’s Secret Service detail — were present among a congregation of approximately 2,500 people.
…
Wright laced into America’s establishment, blaming the “white arrogance” of America’s Caucasian majority for the woes of the world, especially the oppression suffered by blacks. To underscore the point he refers to the country as the “United States of White America.” Many in the congregation, including Obama, nodded in apparent agreement as these statements were made.
The sermon also addressed the Iraq war, a frequent area of Wright’s fulminations.
“Young African-American men,” Wright thundered, were “dying for nothing.” The “illegal war,” he shouted, was “based on Bush’s lies” and is being “fought for oil money.”
In a sermon filled with profanity, Wright also blamed the war on “Bush administration bulls–t.”
The reason Obama cannot recover is due to two facts of life. First off is the fact his campaign was something different in politics. It was the vague and vacuous ‘hope’ that revolved around his call for ‘change’. In the minds of a nation tired of the hyper-partisan sniping and stalemates Obama was going to transcend the ugliness and reach across the aisle to build consensus. Well, you can’t reach across to the opposition when your backers blame the opposition for developing AIDS so it can massacre people of color, or when the opposition is being blamed for being a empire bent on massacring the innocents across the world. How do you reach across the aisle with a Jeremiah Wright and his ilk wishing to put those on the other side of the aisle on the gallows for crimes against humanity?
But while that was the first spoiler for ‘brand Obama’, as Laura Ingraham so correctly notes Obama’s appeal, the real killer was the lie to cover it all up. Mark this down to Obama’s inexperience and his desire to dodge the hard issues instead of confront them. Obama now claims he had no knowledge of Wright’s comments, even while his campaign notes they have been trying to deal with it for a year at least.
Juan Williams was on with Chris Plant this morning and said Obama had to fix this by coming clean. Sorry, but it is too late. The window to deal with this right closed. Now, no matter how good the verbiage, Obama will be seen as trying to simply be the chameleon again. He will have no credibility trying to fix this after he put the blatant lie out first. There will be no credibility and there should be none. He is finished – but it will be a long slow death which takes the Dems down with him.
Obama will go to the convention with the most delegates, most states won and most votes – and he will be damaged goods. Polls already show him sinking against McCain and Clinton. His followers have been exposed to his spineless politician core, and are disillusioned. They put their hopes and prayers into a man who let them down. They did not buy into the dream to have it turned into the twisted world of Reverend Wright. And Michelle Obama has already shown, weeks ago, these anti-American views are at the heart of Obama’s campaign. The damage is done, there is no undoing it now.
Obama is too inexperienced to run a primary campaign, let alone the country. And his PR facade could not hold up forever. And now that Obama has been exposed as a spinning politician his bubble has burts and his campaign is over. It will just take a few more months for it to sink in to America’s psyche, and Obama’s groupies.
It seems that Obama may not have been present for the sermon that particular Sunday as reported by NewsMax, as he was giving a speach to a La Raza rally in Miami that day.
But, even if he was absent for that particular semon, he certainly must have been present for other sermons other over the years; the attitude and feelings about the Country his wife’s comments demonstrated recently are sufficient proof of what Obama is all about!
Obama claims to have not campaigned in Florida and thus the primary results should not count.
So which time where they lieing?
Sounds like a campaign falling apart.
I want to see Hillary win Penn. not by 10 points, but by 20 or 25. What will happen to Obama’s “electability” argument then??
Hil – la – ry! Hil – la – ry!
Yeah, it creeps me out, but I admit it makes me smile whenever I see crowds of dem’s chanting it. I guess that’s because people like Sooth and Conman are swallowing their tongues and turning green at what Hillary’s about to do to their party. She’s going to take the blame whether she deserves it or not.
Karma. Cosmic Karma for all concerned.
Agree 100% AJ. He’s not exactly toast… more like a slow-cooking roast at 200 degrees. But eventually all the meat will fall off the bones.
And this bleeding, in-denial Obama, is literally the most opportune thing that could happen to the GOP, and it’s free! (Wonder what George Soros is thinking about his investment now.)
I do not enjoy it because I think Obama has delivered a hugely unfair and painful blow to Black Americans through his cheap, vain tactics and behavior. He will end up causing a long step backward for Blacks, rather than becoming an agent for progress and pride.
On another curious note, what do you think Michelle O means when she says this, as quoted by Ron Fournier today:
“Barack is one of the smartest people you will ever encounter who will deign to enter this messy thing called politics,” his wife said a few weeks ago, adding that Americans will get only one chance to elect him.
AJ, what does she mean by “only once chance to elect him” ?
Yep, keep reading that he spoke in Miami July 22. He was scheduled for 1:30.
Are you sure it’s Soros, SallyVee? I dunno.
At least we found what Wright and Farrakhan have in common. I watched him on that Hannity show where he was keeping on about James Cone and Dwight Hopkins. They all teach ‘black power”.
I don’t have a problem with that except that they also believe whites are enemies that must be destroyed.
It all boils down to money. They say they can never be equal unless they control the government, it’s resources and military.
Enter UN and reparations.
This is the last version of what I have seen on the net.
Obama made an appearance in Chicago that morning but staff say he did not attend the church that day.
In the latter part of the day he was in Miami, but that date was before the restrictions on campaigning in Florida were determined. Supposedly this was before Obama signed on to the campaign restriction.
Also note fund raisers are still allowed in Florida but not campaign stops.
The left is all in a tizzy saying that the NewsMax account is wrong and going after Kristol in the NYT article for referring to the NewsMax item for sourcing.
Kristol has retracted his position noting the denial of Obama being there from his campaign staff.
According to WaPo political tracker
link not included to keep the post out of moderation due to multiple links
Obama had an appearance in Chicago in the morning and the speech in Miami later.
His staff confirms the schedule to HuffPO
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/17/obama-was-in-chicago-the-_n_91876.html
Obama’s spokesperson Tommy Vietor confirmed that the schedule was accurate but stressed that the senator did not make a stop at Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ
Two options on the Newsmax story. First I doubt the writer would make up attending the Church with Obama. So all the Obama comments seem strange. The only other option is the date is off and it was another day.
If we find Newsmax made up the story then we have another case of lying journalism – which we have enough of in America.
Sally Vee, I think the “only one chance” line is because in Presidential politics most candidates only get one crack at it. Once you lose, the electorate will move someplace else. For example, would the Dems ever really nominate Al Gore or John Kerry again?
(yes, I know some would, but there’s a reason they didn’t run this time and will never run again)
Richard Nixon is the only 20th century exception to this rule that I can think of, and he’s hardly the person for someone to model their career on.
And he should have lost in 1968, except that the dems who got about 64% of the vote in 1964 managed to totally self destruct during their nominating campaign, culminating in the most disastrous party convention in U.S. history. Something to think about for those who are claiming this long drawn out campaign “helps the party”.
Well, the idea that this issue will be settled by an accounting of Obama’s whereabouts on one date is silly. Will any serious person give Obama a pass if his pew wasn’t occupied on a given day during a given sermon by the crazed Rev. Wright?
They are jumping on this one day hoping they can deflect from all the other days. It might be a mistake on dates, but it would not surprise me if someone else did not come up with other days just as damning. 20 years is a long time. Obama was not giving thousands of dollars to a church he did not attend.
I agree.It’s not going away.
It’s like trying to paint over a piss stain. It keeps bleeding through. Not that I ever had to paint over a piss stain, but you get the idea.
This is interesting, from Rasmussens:
McCain has gained ground against both Democrats in recent days as stories about Obama’s former Pastor, Jeremiah Wright, have been widely discussed(see recent daily results). Wright is viewed favorably by just 8% of American voters and 73% consider his comments racially divisive.
The dialogue about Wright’s controversial comments appears to have had at least a short-term impact on public perceptions of Barack Obama. The Illinois Senator is viewed favorably today by just 47% of voters nationwide. That’s down five points since last Thursday (see recent daily results). The number with an unfavorable view of Obama has risen from 44% on Thursday to 50% today. Among White voters, Obama is now viewed favorably by 43% and unfavorably by 54%.
Looked at from a slightly longer perspective, Obama’s overall favorable ratings peaked at 56% on February 21, shortly after he won the Wisconsin Primary. At that point, Clinton began raising questions about Obama as part of the campaign that ultimately enabled her to win the Texas and Ohio Primaries. Since then, Obama’s net favorability ratings have fallen seventeen points (from plus 14 points on February 21 to minus 3 points today).
McCain, visiting Iraq and left out of the Democratic mudslinging, is now viewed favorably by 54%, unfavorably by 42%. Clinton is viewed favorably by 46%, unfavorably by 52%. Her unfavorable total has been at or above 50% for most of the past month (see recent daily results). Negative attitudes towards Clinton remain more firmly entrenched than for the other candidates—35% have a Very Unfavorable opinion of Clinton, 29% say the same about Obama, and 18% hold such a negative view of McCain.
In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, Monday’s numbers show Obama with 46% support from Likely Democratic Primary Voters while Clinton earns 44% of the vote (see recent daily results). Among Democrats, Clinton leads 48% to 42%, but Obama has a substantial lead among unaffiliated voters likely to participate in a Democratic Primary.
Bob Beckel (sp) was furious that he had not been vetted better.
I think Pat Buchannon just coined a new term. Afro-racism.
“It seems that Obama may not have been present for the sermon that particular Sunday as reported by NewsMax, as he was giving a speach to a La Raza rally in Miami that day.”
In other words, “I wasn’t with that bunch of racists, I was with another bunch of racists.” That’s so much more excusable.
