In Looney Toon Year Dems Contemplate A True Mickey Mouse Move
So what if Obama and Clinton end up crippling each other over the next few months (which appears inevitable now) what should the dems do? Well, one thing I suggest they do not do is dump both Clinton and Obama and go with Al Gore, who ran a ridiculously inept run for President in 2000. But that is exactly what some of the ‘brain trust’ in the democrat party are considering:
Plans for Al Gore to take the Democratic presidential nomination as the saviour of a bitterly divided party are being actively discussed by senior figures and aides to the former vice-president.
The bloody civil war between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama has left many Democrats convinced that neither can deliver a knockout blow to the other and that both have been so damaged that they risk losing November’s election to the Republican nominee, John McCain.
If America wants proof the Dems are going the way of the Whigs I suggest they go with this ridiculous plan. Go ahead and make null and void all the support, donations and votes for both and you will find the party DOA come November. There would be such wide spread disillusionment that it would start to hurt the congressional races.
This is classic back room dealing. Gore is such an idiot only a group of other idiots would contemplate putting the inventor of the Internet and Global Warming up against a decorated war hero in a time of war. You think Gore’s Swift-boating was bad the last time, wait until he has to face someone who really is a Vietnam hero, not one made up in Al’s wild imagination.
The conservative in me says go for it, end the suffering of the democrat party quickly – bury it. I hesitate as an American because we need two viable parties. But if the dems go this route they are no longer viable anyway, so I would expect to see a far right wing party pop up to create some ‘balance’ as the GOP moves to the center.
Upon further reflection I think the idea would be wonderful! The liberals would be a marginal after thought of history and we would have a center-right and far right pair of parties to chose from. Go ahead Al, make our day!
I do believe that the Dem’s are locked into picking Obama as their nominee no matter what – the entire black vote which they depend on walks out the door if they don’t, and they know it.
This kind of fantasizing is coming from the people at the top of the Dem party who know that Obama is a disaster who will lose badly, and who also now realize that Hillary is hated by democrat voters almost as much as the rest of the country hates her – she’s done. They’re trying to figure a way out of the disaster headed their way, but there is none, and this kind of desperate fantasy just reflects how hopeless their situation is.
Go John McCain!
I can not believe the Democrats would really do somehting like this. It is just wrong.
Too bad they did not check into Obama more closely, maybe they would not be where they are. I see over at Hot Air that Ed Morrisey linked to a WaPo story about Obama making up his biographical connection to the Kennedys. Like Ed said, the guy is a phony.
And now they are thinking about Al Gore. Unbelievable.
AJ,
the collapse of the democrat party as we currently know it would indeed be a blessing for the US.
Liberals have infiltrated the democrats to the point where the dems who helped win WWII and fought the NoKo’s to a stalemate and if I might add, got us involved in Vietnam all in the name of spreading freedom are now calling for surrender against our current enemies.
I’d like to see an expulsion of the Liberals from the democrat party and have the Liberals form a political party under their own brand name.
I’d be willing to bet that American voters would reject in large numbers the Liberal agenda that continues to rip the democrats apart.
The Dems used to be for a strong, secure America, they need to take their party back from the lefty anti-America self haters that have since the late 1960’s,hijacked their party.
Trouble is, Strata’s conception of a “far right wing” party doubtlessly isn’t a Pat Buchanan/ Ron Paul “America First” party but an even more pro-war party which would, yes, be “hard-line” on immigration
(compared to Strata) but which would advocate depleting our strength even further in no-win wars in the Mideast and Afghanistan.
But what a laugher- a guy who has been so wrong on the war for so long advising the Democrats.
This guy is about to be flushed out of the Matrix.
Al Gore .. call your office.
“I’d like to see an expulsion of the Liberals from the democrat party.”
That would be like 1 guy trying to expel the other 100 from the club – don’t work that way.
and then Sooth’s sockpuppet made an amazingly telling slip when he wrote “in no-win wars in the Mideast and Afghanistan.”
1) too bad both of them are being won.
2) lib talking points say that Afghanistan is the “good war”, the one that even Obama promises to pursue! But of course the truth is that libs hate the idea of resistance to the islamofascists in any place and in any way – thank’s for letting the mask slip for a moment.
3. isn’t it just dreamy to see the lib’s one time darling Hillary destroying the party just the way that everyone on the right always said that she would?
I don’t believe Ron Paul wore a mask during the debates. And yes, both wars are being lost.
Truth:
Extremes meet. When isolationist left and right rant and rave about chickens coming home to roost etc, they really do sound more like each other than they do the rest of us.
In fact I would say the biggest difference between Jeremiah Wright and Ron Paul is their race, their rhetoric is much the same.
But Ron Paul has a lot less support with Republicans than someone like Wright has with present day Democrats. Yep, the Democratic party of today is not JFK’s party anymore.
And no, both wars are not being lost.
Yeah, McCain,a guy who accepts the support of cult leader Hagee is certainly an extremist. This is the charlatan who believes the Roman Catholic Church is the harlot of Revelation but idolizes the anti-Christian state of Israel.
Truth:
Man, you have got the talking points down doncha? McCain sent two of his kids to Catholic school, he is not responsible for the things Hagee said. However, Obama gave tens of thousands of dollars to Wright’s church, called him a spiritual adviser and was close to him for decades. You know the difference, you are just repeating the line all the Obama koolaid drinkers are required to chant.
pathetic really.
eyes glazed over they chant Obama Obama Obama
Yeah , McCain certainly shows us the whoring nature of politics
by that combination of acts, doesn’t he?
Wanna compare funding of Wright and Hagee? Hagee with his multitude of trips with cult followers to the Unholy Land where like Falwell he refuses to visit Christian Palestinians in their refugee camps, but consorts with Zionist leadership in a land which makes it illegal for a Chritian to attempt to convert a Jew to Christianity?
Then again, Reagan, Bush and even Clinton had clerical “spiritual advisors” who teach the same doctrines of Hagee, which include the heresy that God punishes nations who do not support Israel. Dangerous indeed, and a guarantor of an increasing hostile Islamic world, which seen as a unit, already has America quagmired in Iraq.
McCain doesn’t go to Hagee’s church. McCain did not go to Hagee’s church for twenty years.
oh no, the anti-semitic ranting again. Now I know what kind of idiot this is.
The worst thing about Ron Paul is the way he attracted these Stormfront loons the way a fresh pile of manure attracts flies. (although flies are a little bit cleaner than them)
This is the kind of surrendercrat Strata should complain about. A white guilt freak whose pusillanimous policies will surrender the southwest to Mexico like our metropoli have been surrendered, again by the likes of WWS to the hip-hoppers.
The problem with the Democratic party is that they have moved far from their Liberal roots to embrace Progressive aims. They are two different movements. Progressivism embrases socialist movements , transnationalism and makes a cult of the “informed” leading (ruling) the masses. Progressives are very undemocratic in nature. I hope that the Democratic party expells its progressives and that the progressives form their own part where they will meet resounding defeat. Balance will be restored between the conservative nature of the Republican party, which in its extreme can override the needs of the working class, and the socially liberal nature of the American people. Both are needed. Both represent the two faces of the good-heated nature that binds us all.
Yes! My dream come true! A Moderately Conservative Party and a Really Conservative Party! And the Left where it belongs….in a mental hospital.
