Fred Thompson was electrifying and gave one of the best speeches I have heard in ages. He silently sliced Obama to shreds while telling the riveting story of John McCain’s life and dedication to America. It was funny, and heart breaking and uplifting – and devastating in an unspoken manner to Obama as it elevated McCain to hero status. When I listened to the life challenges of McCain one thing echoed in my mind: “but Obama was a community organizer!”. John McCain beaten to near death, but Obama was a community organizer.

One of the most memorable lines by Thomspson was “Character You Can Believe In”, which effectively stabbed at Obama’s vague ‘change’ mantra, his shifting positions and his lack of experience. I can see this growing to “Character and Judgement You Can Believe In” by the end of the convention.

The other incredibly sharp comment was how Obama “will not tax YOU, just corporations”, and then Thompson went on to note that as along as you don’t buy gas, food, clothes or anything else you will not be effected. In his folksy southern way, he said the Dems will only tax the other half of the water in the bucket, not your half (an analogy which has every liberal in the nation scratching their head trying to understand the point).

I want Thompson back every damn night! It was an incredible back story on McCain with tons of slaps at Obama’s inexperience and bad judgement.

But while Thompson’s speech was a riveting story of heroism compared to an empty suite, Joe Lieberman’s speech was historic. I don’t know of any Vice Presidential candidate from one party becoming so disillusioned with the dangerous path of his own party that he comes out for the opposite party. The tag line from Lieberman that destroyed Obama was his counter point regarding McCain. McCain, Lieberman said, “was a Leader our Allies could trust, and one our enemies would fear!” (paraphrasing).

That my friends tells the tale of the election. By reversing the argument it is clear Obama is not a leader whose stand can be trusted by anyone – proven many times over as Obama’s private discussions with world leaders have been leaked and seen to be in total opposition to his publicly stated positions. Not to mention Obama’s flip-flops on just about every issue except Iraq. And on Iraq Lieberman nailed it when he said Obama fought to retreat in defeat while McCain raised his voice – against public opinion – to back The Surge which has our troops now coming home with “honor” and in victory. Coming from the Dem VP Nominee of 2000 is stunning.

But more worrisome is the fact our enemies will not fear Obama. In fact they cannot wait to talk to him and see how far they can roll the neophyte. Lieberman made it clear Obama was not ready to be President and would damage this country.

Folks, we will not see another party’s VP nominee cross the aisle like we did tonight. Not in 200 years will you see this happen. Thompson was on fire, Lieberman was stunning. It was an incredible first round with a lot of major body blows against Obama and the do nothing Democrat Congress.

And everyone is cheering and rallying around Palin against the sewer rats of the liberal media. The tide is turning folks.
