Dumping Sheehan
The far left powers that be have dumped Cindy Sheehan in the mud now that she is of no use to them in beating the Republicans.
Unlike then, when hundreds came from all over the country for major events at the two campsites named after Sheehan’s son, who was killed in Iraq, Sheehan found herself addressing a crowd of only about 100 Saturday afternoon. The large tent where supporters had erected a stage hung with the banner “Speak Truth to Power” was only partially full. In the morning Sheehan signed copies of her new book, being published this week, for an even smaller crowd.
Sheehan used her son’s death to become the media’s posterchild de jour, but she never understood she was simply being used. And now all she has is the hate these users and abusers pumped into her to make her more effective for their partisan causes. They never cared about Cindy or her loss.
While the liberal press tries to understand where the American public is headed in all of this, Cindy has the answer for them if they care to pay attention:
“It’s a pretty good turnout,” she said. “It is Thanksgiving weekend. People spend it at home with their families or shopping, getting ready for Christmas.”
While I understand the press printed this statement, I believe they did so to humanize Sheehan, not as the answer to the broader question of where America is politically this holiday season.
UPDATE:
Check out Ed Morrissey’s fun with this here, with a link to Powerline for perfect picture. Seems the protesters are packing up for the year.
Her son was an adult who made his committment.
Even if she disagreed, she demeans her son by acting like he was a moron who died for a lie.
[…] Joe is about the meet Cindy Sheehan’s fate I would wager. […]
