Keep Us Safe From The Fevered Swamps Of The Political Fringes!
I am reading some top stories at Memoerandum and thinking the Political Industrial Complex has gone nuts. Are we (the media and blogosphere) discussing the economy or any other major issue important to main stream America? No, we have the two lunatic fringes firing off insane charges at each other!Â
First, we have some part time kindergarten teacher making wild and unsubstantiated claims about Sarah Palin and her family (which seems to be his full time job). The dumb sap doesn’t even understand why spreading defaming rumors is wrong! Supposedly he is out to expose the truth. Well, if the truth is the guy thinks a the kindergarten age level – then he has succeeded. He is a sad example of what a bad education can do to an adult.
But let’s be clear, his companions on the right are no better. On the same day we have World Nut Daily hyperventilating ‘birther’ nonsense.
California attorney Orly Taitz, who has filed a number of lawsuits demanding proof of Barack Obama’s eligibility to serve as president, has released a copy of what purports to be a Kenyan certification of birth and has filed a new motion in U.S. District Court for its authentication.
Emphasis mine. The only difference here is WND is smart enough to keep the lawyers at bay by not reporting this as fact. But the stupidity is still the same. I have debunked the birther crap many times over. It is just as dumb as the nutcase acting as rumor central for the Palins.
We are facing the deepest and longest recession since the great depression and this is what the PR people are coming up with? I for one will have no part in the madness – except to point out it is silly madness. And immature as well. Â These people are not leadership material for this nation, nor are the fools who follow them.
Update: For all you birthers out there let me note that this latest news flash is a hoax. When the first image was debunked some clown tried to photoshop age the document, claiming a second version was out there. It is so badly done anyone can see the problem with the edges (nice clean ripples, no wear). These people are such amateurs.
Update: Now this is a good certificate! And just as real.

The President has the obligation to the people to put his records in the public domain.
I think it is curious that he has spent millions on a lawyer to protect and hide his records. I wonder why.
The long form birth certificate, and college records are our business. We elect a person with a history. I want to know what his history is. A why he thinks it’s none of our business?

AJ, your statement is not true. Do you know what courses he took in the 3 colleges he attended, and how he did? Why are his records sealed? A certificate of live birth is different from a birth certificate. I know because my children have both, being born out of the country to an American mother, who was anxious to have them have American birth certificates.
But, the point is why hid history, I will say it again, it goes to TRUST.
This President’s words are all over the place, I know it and so do the people.

I am not a birther and really don’t care about that story but the grades and lack of college records have started to bother me more and more.
Considering that the only way Obama was even elected to the Senate was because the Tribune filed 2 FOIA requests and had sealed divorce records unsealed for both Blair Hull and Jack Ryan which subsequently got them tossed of their tickets (both who were way ahead of him in the polls), the lack of follow up on the grades really irks me. Why not release them? People I know have to provide transcripts to get her jobs with the state so why does he get such a pass for the most powerful position on the planet?
The press hammered Bush over and over for all of his records (and even made some up) but are giving cover to this president.
What are they trying to hide? Where are the college records?

It is a pure waste of time. Do you think people unemployed or underemployed care about this stuff?
Look, it is a distraction which also makes the opposition look stupid. To switch leadership you need a rational alternative. Being irrational and obsessed with this marginal crap is not the path to success.
But it’s a free country – folks can screw up to their heart’s content. Just don’t expect a lot of oohing and ahing and respect for it.
Point taken and I agree with it, it is a distraction from much larger issues (of which there are many) and it is excactly why the WH wants to fan the flames and keep it going. Still bothers me though :).

All I know is…..Obama is hiding something by not releasing his documents, and it will probably bother me until he does.
The Republic of Kenya did not exist with that name before December 1964. Any document with the “Republic of Kenya” name before that date is false.
The fact of the matter, the guy is hiding many things.
All his documents are sealed.
At least he can be nailed for his broken promise of “openness”.
