Liberal Math A Joke
In the rest of the world 2+2=4. Only in the fevered swamps of DC does 2+2=0. Case in point:
Some of President Barack Obama’s health care numbers don’t seem to add up.
…
Obama claims his health effort will not dig the nation deeper into debt and over time will help reduce deficits. He has vowed to not sign any health bill that raises deficits.
But even the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office says that none of the health plans pending on Capitol Hill would control long-term spending, and that ones with the elements Obama wants would add around $1 trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years.
Right now Americans are paying for health their health insurance. They do not see all the costs because employers pay it out of the bottom line for business. But it reduces their take home salaries, and many companies require cost sharing in terms of employee monthly premiums.
The government covers the rest of the people through tax payer funded plans like Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans’ plans and DoD services to active members. We pay all of this too of course.
And then there are the uninsured, who we cover through premiums and hospital and provider prices.
What Obama and the Dems want us to believe is we the insured who now support ourselves (the first ‘2’ in the equation) plus everyone on the government dole (the 2nd ‘2’ in the equation) are all moved into a radical new approach the cost will be zero!
Only a DC liberal would believe such mathematical fiction. Why do we know this? Because the dems are struggling to ‘pay’ for this radical transition:
Suggestions have ranged from taxes on soft drinks to a surcharge on wealthy individuals, from a tax on health insurance benefits paid by employers — opposed by Obama in last year’s campaign — to a proposed tax on insurance companies. That, plus letting existing Bush tax cuts expire for wealthier Americans.
…
During his presidential campaign, Obama repeatedly vowed “you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime” — although he also talked about raising taxes on families making more than $250,000 to pay for health care. On Sunday, Larry Summers, Obama’s chief economic adviser, said the health care overhaul needs funding from somewhere and refused to rule out higher taxes on middle-income Americans.
“There is a lot that can happen over time,” Summers said, adding that the administration believes “it is never a good idea to absolutely rule things out, no matter what.”
Some analysts note that new taxes to support the health care plan would begin in 2011 but the benefit parts wouldn’t be fully up and running for several more years, resulting in one-time-only extra revenue.
When someone tells you that you can get all this great stuff for free it is sure sign your being taken to the cleaners. Right now I am struggling to see the difference between all those fraudulent phone sails outfits and Congress.
I have a great poll question for Pelosi and her claims that private health care is the villain in all this. Ask America what they want see changed most in America: (1) the fools in Congress or (2) their health care plan.
It should wake a few people up.
“Obama claims his health effort will not dig the nation deeper into debt and over time will help reduce deficits.”
You have to factor into account that the Obama plan gets rid of Medicare.
1600 Penn Ave and E. Capital Street have become the “BS Lounge”.
There really is a lounge called the BS Lounge in Alabama! LOL!
There is only one way to pay for the expansion of medical care, that would be the Department of Defense budget. Why do you think that no European country can send troops to Afghanistan……THEY HAVE NONE TO SEND. Anyone who thinks it’s because they hate George W. Bush is wanking.
Biggest tax revenue drop since 1932. Oh dear, this could mess up the plan!
All you need is tort reform and the costs will go down automatically and probably exponentially. And it might encourage the insurance companies (or doctors directly) to pick up the tab for the uninsured. Not only does this save money from exhorbitant premiums but it frees up time from the unnecessary CYA procedures currently done (there are the extra doctors and nurses you need to serve the new customers).
“All you need is tort reform and the costs will go down automatically and probably exponentially.”
Exactly, if government took over malpractice insurance, the costs would drop like a rock. But the purpose of the plan is not to reduce our medical costs, it is to reduce the government’s costs by bailing out Medicare.
They just can’t bill it as a replacement of Medicare.
Maybe BO wants to bankrupt the U.S. so that we have no choice than to cut the defense budget to pay for health care and whatever else. The left is hell bent on ramming this thing thru as the one means of taking over the economy in a Soviet style “command and control” economy. The modern left loathes the military industrial complex. I am just saying.
