Lock The Lunatics Up And Throw Away The Key!

Published by at 2:58 pm under All General Discussions

I for one do not support everything President Obama has done domestically (though I do soundly support his efforts so far regarding Iraq, Afghanistan and the NSA-FISA changes Bush put in place after 9-11). But I will be damned if I will tolerate anyone threatening our President or his wonderful family.

There were signs comparing President Barack Obama to a Nazi and showing him with an Adolf Hitler-style mustache, but federal officials believe another sign referencing the president and his family went too far.

A man who was holding a sign reading “Death to Obama” Wednesday outside a town hall meeting on health care reform in Hagerstown, Md., has been turned over to the Secret Service.

Washington County Sheriff’s Capt. Peter Lazich said the sign also read, “Death to Michelle and her two stupid kids.”

Lazich said U.S. Secret Service agents took the unidentified 51-year-old man into custody Wednesday afternoon after deputies detained him near the entrance to Hagerstown Community College.

In my personal opinion, threats against our President are acts of treason. There is no issue we cannot work out with using violence and having access to the voting booth. This nonsense cannot be allowed to continue.

These are not true Americans.

Are you sure he wasn’t another move-on org plant? Of course, move-on and the others who have been filling the meetings with plants have been egging this kind of activity on for some time now. That’s why it’s such a destructively bad idea.

btw, for fun I was looking up some old posts on your site, related to some current news items. This one, from May 5 of this year:

“I know the fringes left and right don’t like me to remind them of how irrelevant they are rapidly becoming, but the big news out of PA is a left of center moderate (Specter) may go head to head with a right of center moderate (Ridge) for Senator Specter’s seat. The battle for the centrists begins in PA. What is important to note is that true liberals or conservatives are not in the running. If this spreads we can get out of the fringes and get this country back on track.”

Compare that to today’s polls from Pennsylvania: Remember, Toomey was the supposed “far right” (he isn’t, in truth) candidate:

“The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Pennsylvania voters shows 48% would vote for Toomey if the election were held today. Just 36% would vote for Specter while four percent (4%) prefer a third option, and 12% are not sure.”

What a difference 2 months makes! Looks like it isn’t just “right-wingers” who were eager to give Specter the heave-ho; seems to be a pretty mainstream position all of a sudden.

And Ridge has dropped off the radar screen completely.

I see no problem with a sign comparing Obama to Hitler… the left had such signs all the time during the Bush years, and then there’s Pelosi. But any sign saying “death to…” to any president is immoral, and wrong. It’s even more disgusting when his children are mentioned.

Unfortunately, this will be used to paint all town hall protesters with a very broad brush.

    AJ,

You may want to consider this as a possible scenario

Obama’s Nazi Straw man: An Old Alinsky Trick

After you view the video and read the article you may have a different view on the subject.

Why fall for the same trick every time?
It is straight out of Alinsky and Rules for Radicals.
Find the opposition. Freeze him. Ridicule him.

Obama thinks his opposition is from “the Right” though it is
    not just from there.

    What to do?

Tell his thugs to dress up like hicks and go stand around with ridiculous
    signs.

My question. If that sign constituted treason, and Obama ordered his
followers to make those signs, then has Obama created treason?

Well, I will let your voters figure that one out, but in no way do I think
a whole string of insane provokings is traced back to anyone else
    than Obama himself.

Interesting details on a similar case this morning:

“An African-American man has pleaded guilty after being accused of impersonating a white supremacist in a fictitious Facebook account to make death threats against an African-American university student.”

“Hart admitted creating the fictitious account in November, pretending to be a white supremacist outraged by the election of Barack Obama as the nation’s first African-American president, the statement said.

He then transmitted a death threat via Facebook to an African-American student at Nicholls State University in Louisiana, saying he wanted to kill African-Americans because of Obama’s election, according to the statement.

A court document provided by the U.S. attorney’s office said Hart told an FBI interviewer that he intended the threat to be a prank “to get a reaction.”

I am sure that the secret service gets more than 1 mental midget that makes some threat to any of our presidents, bottom line these people have no real affiliation to any political party and no political party wants them. Lets just thank the good Lord that our law enforcement agencies do outstanding work and should be commended for the job they do.

OT but AJ seems busy and we haven’t had an economics thread recently. “Toxic Loans Topping 5% May Push 150 Banks to Point of No Return…” on Drudge today. Also saw a story yesterday that mortgage foreclosures were up 7% in July over June.

This is going to be a sparse Christmas for many families.

I don’t like Hitler signs or flag burning. However, I tolerate them (no matter how wrong I think they are) because I know it is freedom of speech. I think any type of death threats should be treated differently (but, that is a slippery slope if you cross into parody or artistic expression, etc). Mentioning spouse and children this way is immoral and unforgivable.

It is also true that this guy could just as easily be a leftwing Obama supporter as a rightwing nutjob. No excuse for either.

I have zero tolerance for any person or group that advocates violence of any kind. Zero. The person that makes the death threat should have the book thrown at them. It is especially vile against children.

This next comment has nothing to do with above. I started my day with ABC GMA (gives my local at breaks). It has started for real. Steam was coming out my ears. Lying vile MSM at it’s finest. They start with all the death threats against Obama. Then they connect it all up with the healthcare protesters. Then they throw in the RACE card to sew it up. They compare to OK City.

I have been watching the pieces fall into place for last few days for this all out assault. Think about how they set this up. Always follows the same pattern. They shut up and reelected Clinton on the back of Okla City. Same playbook.

MSM elected Obama. It would have NEVER happened if they had not actively run the campaign. ABC has been the #1 offender since MSNBC/NBC was exposed. They do it best.

    Even Drudge has it headlined.

Anyone who feels threatened by a child should not be allowed to live among us and anyone acting on that fear doesn’t deserve to live.

I am not sure I agree with or understand the concluding sentence– “There is no issue we cannot work out with using violence and having access to the voting booth.”

The first part is factually incorrect as proven by history many issues have been worked out by violence; I think we would like to think as a last resort—-what is at issue is a matter of degree of last resort and maybe the definition of violence.

The second part would be nice if we had access to something palatable at the voting booth. As currently corrupted, the process is controlled by two parties from the local to national level. You can not possibly believe that Americans had a choice between the two most qualified Americans in the last election. The attendence at the various town halls is a great sign that Americans may be standing up to be counted and seen by their reps. And the reason that the administration wanted all their plans rammed down our throats quickly and without proper deliberation.

In any event a “good” lawyer will get him off by claiming that his sign was not intended as a threat but mearly a statement of fact. After all death awaits all of us (if the signs were worded as above). He may have to plea to slandering the children if indeed they are not stupid.

  13. Terrye says:

Every president gets threats, so far these have been mild when compared to Bush. I do think that the left will use these threats to try and silence people.
