Dean To Iraq?
At least that is the suggestion from one Delaware Democrat Senator!
Sen. Tom Carper wishes politicians from both parties would visit Iraq before making pronouncements about U.S. policy in Iraq.
The Delaware Democrat spent the week after Thanksgiving with a congressional delegation on a trip to the Middle East and Iraq and returned to a growing political uproar. While President Bush assured reporters “the war is winnable,” Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean claimed that the idea the war can be won is “just plain wrong.”
“I wish more of my colleagues, and folks like Howard Dean, would try going to Iraq to see the situation there for themselves,” Carper told The News Journal.
Is this a revolt from the left? No, of course not. They still see defeat:
Carper will take to the Senate floor Wednesday to discuss his observations in more depth. Anyone who has visited Iraq and talked to the people there, he said, “is not going to come back thinking this thing is going to be won militarily. It’s not.”
Who said the war was going to be won only militarily? By that measure we won already. Are the democrats going to now try and claim victory to push withdrawal of the troops?
They are a very confused group, these democrats and liberals. Dean going to Iraq would accomplish little in regards to educating him, and nothing for the Iraqi’s. In fact, it might boost the morale of the insurgents for their American champion (unwitting champion of course) where to come to town. I suggest Dean stay here and continue to destroy the democrat party.
Hat Tip Drudge.
