Mr President, Please Don’t Insult Our Intelligence
Health care reform is going to cost a boat load. The numbers keep coming out and it is stunning how much it apparently will cost to insure the uninsured. Of course that is because the government take over of health care will required 5o+ news government organizations and tens of thousands of bureaucrats and – well, its a jobs program for the liberal unions (want to bet you have to be a union to get work with these new entities, just like you had to be a union to get stimulus money?).
There are taxes on insurance companies, taxes on insurance premiums, payroll taxes if your company decides it is cheaper to let you flounder in the government rationed health care program. Taxes on medical devices and drugs. It’s insane! Â When they aren’t proposing a tax on sodas they are proposing to cut what they pay for Medicare and Medicaid!
Right now we pay for the uninsured through higher prices for services, which are passed through to us as higher premiums. We also pay a ton of money in prices and premiums to cover the fact the Feds don’t pay their share right now! They pay 60 cents on the dollar, and we pay the rest as a hidden tax. I mean good grief, the Feds are the massive deadbeats here gaming the system.
So when President Obama says he can destroy and remake our health care system and we won’t see a dimes difference in the deficit (and no change to our current policies) he is lying through his teeth (someone get Joe Wilson in here). And he tried it again this Sunday with George Stephanopoulos:
It’s even worse than that. Those who are uninsured right now, are going to pay a huge tax by being forced to buy insurance. And according to the CBO it will be equal to a 15-20% tax increase!
Requiring everyone to buy insurance will impose a massive tax on all who now are uninsured. The Congressional Budget Office projects that it would force the middle-income uninsured to pay on average more than 15 percent of their income.
The poor will still have Medicaid. But for those earning more, the required premiums will be worse than any tax increase. For example, CBO estimates that when the program is fully implemented — by 2016 — an individual earning $32,400 a year would have to pay $4,100 in premiums before getting any subsidy. With deductibles and co-payments, he’d have to shell out $5,600 a year, or 17.3 percent of his income. A family of four, making $80,000 a year, would have to pay about $10,500 in premiums alone — with deductibles and co-payments, up to $15,000 or just under 20 percent of income.
A 15-20% increase in federal taxes! And this is for the uninsured. Think the rest of us will skate on by as well?
I have one question for President Obama while he is insulting our intelligence about government mandates on the backs of Americans. Why in the hell should I pay more than I do now, for less service, to force people to pay insurance, who I cover now anyway? As noted – the poor have Medicaid (which I pay for as well). Can some liberal Einstein explain that to me?
What I would also like to see is the portion of health care costs that go to (1) Â emergency room treatments for the uninsured, (2) defensive care against law suites and (3) covering the dead beat feds on Medicare/Medicaid payments. I want to see which is the biggest cost driver on my premiums/prices. Given the size of Medicare and Medicaid, I have a good idea who is the prime culprit here.
OK so we have a smoker telling us about how important health care is and the same person who never held a real job or ran a business, who represents the party of fiscal retardation telling us his plan will cost less and there will be no impact on current levels of care. I am waiting for how the tooth fairy will provide funding for all this and how giving up teeth doesn’t constitute a tax.
The government is so hypocritical. I worked for a non profit for years and the law was if a donor designated where his donation was to go, that was the only place it could be spent. Social Security and Medicare is taken out of everybody’s paycheck to fund these two entities but the federal government has been spending this money for decades on other things just like it was their money to do with as they wished. And then they come up and tell us both are going broke. Maybe they wouldn’t be going broke if these funds had been invested all along. I doubt that there was any interest accumulated on these funds.
There is no way this health care bill can bwe deficit proof. The dems have never been economic literate. One wonders if any of them studied economics. If they did they have drunk the kool aid so it doesn’t matter. We are still living with a lot of their failed programs. I will never understand the American people vooting these traitors into office to destroy our country.
