Out Of State Tribes And Harry Reid

Harry Reid has a serious problem on his hands – and I hope he stays right were he is as the most powerful, national leader of the Democrat Party. Turns out Harry Reid was raking in cash from out of state Indian tribes who had just hired Abramof to help them bribe lobby Congress to help them make millions in gambling revenues.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee this week revived a charge that Reid received more than $50,000 from four tribes with gaming interests between 2001 and 2004 after they hired Abramoff. The Nevadan had received no money from those tribes before then, Republicans said.

The donations included:

• $19,500 from the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians of California.

• $5,000 from the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana.

• $7,000 from the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

• $19,000 from the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan.

Not just that, Harry wrote at least one letter on behalf of these non-constituents to Gale Norton suggesting certain decisions be made to the benefit of his donors. These people are not his constituents, being a Senator from Nevada. So why else would these tribes donate to an out of state Senator such as Reid unless they wanted something in return?

What Reid provides ,as he stays in his Majority Leader position, is cover for the Republicans who are also tainted by Abramof’s money. My opinion is Abramof is a lying, greedy, cheat who tricked the men and women in Congress as well as his lobbying customers. In a world of very fine rules which rely on the honor system, a guy like Abramof can play games undetected for years.

But Dingey Harry is providing a valuable symbol: It is not just Republicans tainted by Abramof.

Thanks Harry!
