Dems Can Kiss Connecticut Senate Seat Goodbye

Published by at 10:54 pm under All General Discussions

I hate liars. We all know politician shave the truth a lot, but out-and-out lying is just plain insulting to the voters’ intelligence. We see it all the time in DC now, open lies about policies and results and the future. And then there is the gross out-and-out about being a hero of some kind, which is what the Democrat cruising to election in Connecticut to fill Chris Dodd’s (D) seat just did:

At a ceremony honoring veterans and senior citizens who sent presents to soldiers overseas, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut rose and spoke of an earlier time in his life.

“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. “And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it — Afghanistan or Iraq — we owe our military men and women unconditional support.”

There was one problem: Mr. Blumenthal, a Democrat now running for the United States Senate, never served in Vietnam.

The NY Times, to their limited credit, broke this story. For once they did not white wash it or cover it up. As the son of a World War II Navy veteran and the proud father of a US Marine (both of which volunteered to defend this nation) I cannot put in words the disgust I have for this cretin in Connecticut. All I know is this charlatan was cruising to election after it was Chris Dodd would easily lose his bid for reelection this year. I guess I have more faith in the self respect and pride of Connecticut voters to believe any but a few delusional and gullible few would ever vote for this liar.

If would lie to the voters about this, he would lie to the voters about anything. And the voters know it.

Update: Seems this ‘bombshell’ story is really hitting the fan. I wonder if this was an effort to detonate this issue early in the election cycle in hopes it would dissipate by November and the public could be lulled back into a stupor. This is not the year of lulling the public into a stupor, so if that was the plan it was a really, really dumb one. Allahpundit notes something about his GOP challenger:

Update: It gets worse for Blumenthal. Meet his likely Republican challenger, Rob Simmons:

Rob’s public service career began when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965 as a Private, and spent 19 months in Vietnam where he earned two Bronze Star Medals. Rob continued his military service in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Military Intelligence Officer, retiring as a Colonel in 2003 with over 37 years of active and reserve service.

Ouch!

You would think the man would know this was going to happen sooner or later.

BTW, my Daddy was also a Navy vet from WW2. He served on a LST, a long slow target.

    “I don’t understand politicians.”

Oh come on, yes you do. Those like Blumenthal think they are little tin gods who can do anything they want to anyone they want and everyone else in the world will never lift a finger to stop them.

They have no morality, no ethics, no beliefs. Everything they say is a lie calculated for their own personal advantage. They scheme and manipulate and cheat every second of every day. That is what they are, that is who they are, that is all they are.

And right now Blumenthal is furious that people like you want to upset what he considers is his Divine Right to Rule you all.

    So MarkN,

What about the GOP losing PA-12 to a lifetime congressional staffer.

  4. MarkN says:

PA-12, I’ll leave two posts. One here and one on the other thread. At least Burns won the primary. The other candidate Russell was not happy with the choice of Burns and he got 43% of the vote. If Russell backs Burns in November, Burns has a chance to improve 5% to get to 49%.

    We Just Don’t Like Liars…

Americans just don’t like liars (or raging idiots or elitist wanna be’s or cheap-shot artists or morally bankrupt selfish SOB’s or condescending “intellectuals” or…)……

  6. […] As I said before, Blumenthal has destroyed himself both through the years of misrepresenting his Vietnam experience, the years of not correcting untold news stories about his Vietnam experience, and his idiotic confrontational stance that somehow his reputation was destroyed by anyone else but himself. Put CT Senate back in play folks. […]
