Congressman Assaults Student In DC
If the roles were reversed, and a citizen grabbed and slapped a US Congressman, you know charges would be pending:
Someone says “Hi Congressman” and the response is physical assault? Bob Etheridge is the epitome of our elitist, arrogant, abusive federal government. The man should be fired – and hopefully the good people of his state will do what is right. We know the Pelosi Congress will not do what is right.
Pathetic.
Update: Ed Morrissey also covers this assault on Americans by a pathetic ‘leader’. More at Powerline as well. For the first time in my life, I am ashamed of my government (not my country).

Ah, but Michelle Obama is prouder than ever!

Another good reason to stay in shape and brush up on your self defense techniques.
You never know when, how, or who will try to intrude upon your God given rights to free speech and the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness!
I guess these college kids are not the politically correct free press that only asks favorable questions of the America hating dems so must be stifled at any opportunity!
Afraid for your postion Congresscritter?
You had better be!
Remember in Nov!
The students should have been prepared to identify themselves, that’s their bad!
But
the congressmans behavior was over the top. I hope the student presses charges.
This thuggery brought to you by the Demofascist Crime Syndicate (formerly known as the Democrat Party).
Oneal, Why should the student have been forced to identify himself, other than to say “I am a student!” (which he did) ??? This man is not an Officer of the Law, engaged in a detention for security reasons. He had no right to demand anything from the student, and in fact the assault (physical touching) is indeed a crime.
The only proper action, if he did not wish to talk, would have been to say “no comment” and keep walking.
[…] AJ Strata says he’s ashamed of his government (but not his country) for the “first time” in his life. (I wonder if Michelle feels the same way watching the video.) He also notes that if the roles were reversed and the student had placed the esteemed Representative in a headlock, charges would be pending. He’s right, but it would be ALL OVER the news as well, and the kid would be painted as an evil Tea Partier gone wrong. (“What’s become of our youth?!”) […]
I thought that President Obama was supposed to unite.
A couple of thoughts…
* All the student asked him is if he supported the “Obama agenda”. If he had voted for healthcare reform, cap and trade, stimulus, etc. (I would presume he did though I don’t know for sure), I would expect that he would be happy and excited to educate this young man on how great the “Obama agenda” is!
* From the video, it looks like he is already upset about something (or maybe drunk!)…
* So, does this mean the phrase “Obama agenda” is a personal insult worthy of physical confrontation?? Hmmmm….maybe every GOP campaign commercial should contain the words “Obama Agenda” so as to elicit this bizarre Pavlovian response in Democrats…
Let’s simply describe this as what it is: assault by the Congresscritter on a citizen. The citizens assaulted need to file criminal charges!
[…] Totally viral now. Sister Toldjah, Gateway Pundit, Strata-Sphere, and Doug Powers at Malkin’s place all […]
Somebody tell me again how these are “our best and our brightest”. I need a good hour-long laugh.
WWS,
It’s just common courtesy and professionalism to identify yourself if your a news representative lobbist etc. Generally they have identification on their lapels etc.
If I was walking down the street and someone stuck microphone and camera in my face I would want to know who and what they were about.
Remember these guys are pelted every day with questions and media. There are a lot of “gotcha”sources out there. Imagine what Sarah Palin has to put up with.
It was a rookie mistake for a youngster and school journalist, but you are correct, the right response from the congressman would be “no comment” and walk away. I hope the student files charges, or a least gets an apology.
The guy looked not so happy to start with, perhaps he was ill or had just found out his wife was divorcing him, who knows, we all have bad days.
“Bobby, you gott som splanin to do”

Thats it the Congressasses guys wife was divorcing him after she found out about his boyfriend!
At any rate his opponent just got a contribution from me!
Good work Bob, oh and your public statement self aggrandizing your “many years” of public service just won’t cut it.
Your a lowlife liar and thief of real working folks property and prosperity and you will be retired soon!
You Sir are a disgrace!
I hope theres’ a way to keep the taxpayers from funding this smos retirement for the rest of his life.
He needs to be made unwelcome in his hometown!
Signs, billboards, booed out of resturants ala Ben Nelson, Traitor D. NE.
Well, we can always repeal the anti-duelling laws. This sort of thing used to be sorted out with pistols for two, and coffee for one.
And IIRC, the old Bladensburg duelling ground has never been built on.
“Thats it the Congressasses guys wife was divorcing him after she found out about his boyfriend!”
Naw, actually he’s feeling blue because his wife has cut him down to twice a month. But he should feel lucky, I tell ya, Lucky! Two guys she cut off completely!!!
(apologies to Rodney Dangerfield’s ghost)
I guess this is Bush’s fault too.
