Obama’s New America

Liberals run on silly fantasies. Fantasies about the great, all-knowing, all-wise government bureaucrat being the saint compared to the sinner corporations. The idea corporations reward and foster innovation and success while the bureaucrats reward time in should tell you all you need to know about that fantasy.

Liberals believe the fantasy that government gouging of the private sector, and regurgitating the money back into ‘politically correct’ programs, will stimulate economic growth. That’s why President Obama is naively talking about roads creating industrial centers with no mention of where the companies will come from to work over those same roads.

So that here in Wisconsin, there may be some roads that not only were repaired, but also were suddenly linked up to create a new industrial park that would facilitate long-term economic development beyond this immediate crisis.

Evidently we are now using the Field of Dreams “build it and they will come” economic plan. We had the bridge to nowhere in Alaska, now we have Obama’s roads to nowhere across America.

The news out this 4th of July is particularly bleak. Our inexperienced Commander-in-Chief has fully proven the theory that being a community organizer and one term senator is not sufficient experience to run this great nation with competence. The liberal economic stimulus package many of us predicted would fall flat has done just that. Decades of debt have been added onto the back of Americans and we have nothing to show for it.

For example:

“The job losses during the Great Recession were so off the chart, that even though we’ve gained about 600,000 private sector jobs back, we’ve got nearly 8 million jobs to go,” said Lakshman Achuthan, managing director of Economic Cycle Research Institute.

Despite signs of slowing economic growth, Achuthan is not predicting that the U.S. economy is about to fall into another downturn later this year.

But a combination of a slower growth and greater volatility is a prescription for as many as three recessions over the upcoming decade, he said.

“We’ve entered a era where the United States will see more frequent recessions than anyone is used to,” Achuthan said.

One of the big problems is that many of workers who have lost jobs were in industries that are not likely to recover their former strength.

The liberals’ attacks on corporate America have taken their toll. You cannot bad mouth and promise to punish the engine of our collective well being and then be surprised when the engine begins to crap out from the abuse. The evil corporations (and their hard workers who were being paid for their efforts) provide us everything we have; from salaries to houses to medical breakthroughs to wondrous technology. Our amazing standard of living is not due to taxes and wasteful spending.

Want to see the future of America’s economy under liberal-socialist policies? Look to Argentina:

Argentina nationalized private pension funds in 2008 under the guise of shielding them from the economic meltdown. But the funds have been used by lawmakers. That couldn’t happen here, could it?

Socialist President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said the state was protecting private retirement from “policies of plunder.” By moving tens of billions from the private sector and placing it in the public fisc, she claimed to be providing “an example” for others to follow as the global financial crisis heated up.

The Argentine Congress, making a promise it didn’t intend to keep, said it would make sure the money would be used for pensions. Instead, it was used for government spending. Nearly $30 billion was stolen from the citizens of Argentina by the government that was supposed to protect them from thieves.

Can it happen here? It already has happened here (Obamacare, taxes, student loans, etc). It does not matter what lame excuse the government makes up to take your hard earned money, it always wastes it and keeps you from reaping the rewards of your life time of effort.

Speaking of liberal foolishness lets look at the fantasies of Obamacare. More people insured, but unlimited funds (no caps), no restriction on pre-existing conditions (which means no premium hike due to existing conditions) and all this for less money and no change in quality. In the engineering field this is known as the myth of the perpetual motion machine – a favorite of con artists through out the history of humanity. Incredible and endless benefits at no cost. Free beach front property with private bridges available at no extra cost – in Nevada.

This is the reality of Obamacare:

Emergency rooms, the only choice for patients who can’t find care elsewhere, may grow even more crowded with longer wait times under the nation’s new health law.

Consider:

  • There’s already a shortage of front-line family physicians in some places and experts think that will get worse.
  • People without insurance aren’t the ones filling up the nation’s emergency rooms. Far from it. The uninsured are no more likely to use ERs than people with private insurance, perhaps because they’re wary of huge bills.
  • The biggest users of emergency rooms by far are Medicaid recipients. And the new health insurance law will increase their ranks by about 16 million. Medicaid is the state and federal program for low-income families and the disabled. And many family doctors limit the number of Medicaid patients they take because of low government reimbursements.

This too is the reality of Obamacare:

The Obama administration has not ruled out turning sick people away from an insurance program created by the new healthcare law to provide coverage for the uninsured.

Critics of the $5 billion high-risk pool program insist it will run out of money before Jan. 1, 2014. That’s when the program sunsets and health plans can no longer discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions.

Reality: there is not enough money to cover everyone with any disease or medical issue. That is why people must be responsible for their own health care. If you succeed you can afford more for you and your family. If your life choices are self destructive, you will be left to deal with the best a public safety net can provide. That is the way it should be.

Things are bad right now, and all the Obama administration can do is see how many people it can still fool with lies and facades. Running to Wisconsin to say those road repairs will create an industrial park in the near future is classic liberal BS. As is the lame claim all is well and getting better. The fact is this administration and congress tried every liberal trick in the book, and still resists tax cuts and federal spending cuts (known to work from John Kennedy, Ronald Reagan to George W Bush). They even tried to lie the economy into growing.

It all failed. Miserably. Which is why we will throw most of the bums out in November, and begin dismantling this dysfunctional, wasteful and lethargic federal bureaucracy.

    Liberals’ child-like minds will be the death of this country. How can they possibly think insuring more people (who can’t pay for it) at less cost will work? We have a shortage of doctors now what willl it be like when doctors take early retirement or just quit? If we are lucky we will get doctors from third world countries just as UK and Canada do and the profession will be dumbed down to accomodate them. Otherwide there will be a doctor shortage like you have never seen. Affirmative action doctors will be geniuses compared to these doctors. Already doctors are not taking medicare patients at a time when millions of boomers are starting medicare. Where are they going to find doctors? I keep asking my doctor what he is going to do when Obamacare kicks in and he is evasive. He hasn’t made up his mind yet. That’s the impression I get.

    The child-like minds of all the liberals’ have thought up these theories and these theories have gone south. That’s because liberals don’t think things through. They just can’t picture failure for their wonderful schemes. They look and sound so good on paper there is no way they will not succeed.

    Our schools are teaching our children there is no failure and that everyone wil succeed equally. This is the worse thing they can teach our children. When they get out into the real world they will be shocked and traumatized. I had a sheltered childhood and it was traumatic when I got out into the real working world and saw what a dog eat dog world it really was. It is criminal that they are not teaching our children how to survive in this world.

    The sad thing is they are so arrogant about saying their plans will work and will not discuss that fact that they might not. This is what I dispise about them. They talk about diversity and free speech but only if you agree with them, otherwise you are a troublemaker or a nazi. Dissent is patriotic until a conservative dissents. It is then treason. For people practicing treason every day it is laughable for them to call patriots traitors.

    Another great post, AJ! Obama’s talk of the bridges and roads brings up yet another reason why the “stimulus” bill failed.

    Now granted, the vast majority of the money went to pay off various constituencies and didn’t do anything productive at all. Example – financial grants to states that simply let them put off hard reform decisions for a year – now the money is gone and the same choices are still facing us.

    BUT… even the money that *Did* go to “Infrastructure” only created a handful of new jobs, if any! How could that be? Rebuilding “Infrastructure” has been the mantra of Keynesians for decades now! This was always assumed to be the panacea – what went wrong?

    It’s simple – this isn’t the 30’s anymore. We don’t build roads by lining up 100,000 men with shovels and telling them to dig. (Imagine if we did! Actually, it’s quite humorous to try and visualize a line of out of work Starbucks barristas being handed shovels and told to dig.)

    Now that construction is mechanized and controlled by only a few key companies in the various regions, infrastructure spending leads to very little new employment, although it does result in a lot of money flowing to local pols – which is why they love it so. Frequently the money and the jobs flow to out of state engineering companies, usually on bridges where local expertise isn’t up to the task. In these cases the spending does nothing at all for any local employment.

    The operating theory has been Keynesian – that the act of constructing these things will result in so much add-on activity that it will end up being worth it. But this is a matter of faith, not fact, as AJ points out. If there is no underlying growth waiting to happen, there is nothing to be stimulated no matter how many roads you build. A great example is Murtha’s famous airport which almost no one ever flies into or out of, no matter how much money is spent on it.

    even the supposedly “good” parts of this bill rested on nothing but economic fantasy, which has now been discredited a second time. THAT is why this bill has been such a disaster.

    The key will be to do some real reforms.

    I work for the military in the acquisition business, and we see the ‘reform’ efforts. Which always amount to taking the bad broken system, changing some labels, slapping on a new layer of supervision, adding some more reports to fill out, and calling it fixed.

    In fact, things become worse.

    A REAL reform would start by taking every ‘reform’ of the last 50 years and throwing it in the trash. Learn from failure, don’t add to it.

    What’s the point of being King of the World if mere peons like us can wear business suits, work in air-conditioned offices, and operate computers better than he does?

    You guys need to watch the old Walace Beery movie “Poncho Villa.” Poncho was an illiterate peon but he lead an uprising and took over the Mexicn government. The first thing he did was call in a local printer and tell him to print him some money. Sound familiar? Obama is so dumb he thinks he can solve problems by passing laws. Auto makers have to build car that get 45 mpg within 5 years, whether the technology exists or not. Pass a law telling BP to stop the leak and clean up the mess. That takes care of that. pass laws making the use fossil fuels illegal when the technology does not exist to replace them. He thinks he can make things happen by passing laws telling people they have to do certain things. He truly is that dumb. Let’s not fool our selves. This guy is a perfect example of the socially promoted, self esteem enhanced college graduate who has been affirmative actioned up the ladder and promoted by press agents and the media as a intelligent black man. Our government agencies are full of people like him. He couldn’t find his rear with both hands. It’s little wonder we are fast becomeing a third world country. I want to know if he atttended remedial classes when he got to Harvard.
