Grand Standing In The Silly Season

Published by at 9:12 am under 2006 Elections,All General Discussions

If anyone needs a reminder, this year is another round of the Silly Season, where we see stupid pol tricks as people vying for a poitical promotion to higher office grand stand for media attention. Example one:

A liberal Democrat and potential White House contender is proposing that the Senate censure President Bush for authorizing domestic eavesdropping, saying the White House misled Americans about its legality.

Since this issue is a done deal with two new congressional subcommittees who get to see why we have certain people who are talking to terrorists under surveillance, there are only a few explanations for this odd behavior. Either Russ has no idea about the resolution, or he believes there is no other more important issue facing this country. Is he naive or chasing wild geese?

Honestly, who cares.

Update:  OK, some people care (I am just not one of them).  Fiengold’s Folly doesn’t deserve more air time, but maybe it will be an example to others on how not to run a ‘serious’ campaign.  John over at Stop The ACLU passed on a proposed return censure volley (do two censures make a right?) from Blogs For Bush. Anyone interested feel free and join the bandwagon.  And Michelle Malkin is starting her usual well rounded round up, so keep an eye there as well.

Just as they did over the call to withdraw immediately from Iraq, the Democrats have gifted Republicans a rubber mallet to whack Democrats with. Democrats make statements that they simply do not believe in, and will not vote to support. It’s not that….
