UN & President Declare War On Libya, Hide Behind Too Slick Verbage

Published by at 9:23 am under All General Discussions,Obama's War In Libya

What I really despise to transparent lies. While I would very much like to see Qaddafi out of power, if the UN is planning on taking out military targets in Libya then it should stop pretending and just declare war. This crap about a ‘no-fly’ and ‘no-drive’ zone being imposed through targeted bombing is a farce.

And it insults the intelligence of Hawks and Peaceniks alike. The Hawks will not respect Obama’s Hillary-War simply because he waited for the UN to give him cover to make the hard decisions. Nor will the liberal left be snookered by the fact the US is imposing its will using massive blood shed.

War is war. It is horrible and bloody and final. Peace through strength is the best way to avoid the final option of war. Lame word-smithing, slippery labeling, etc insult those who must fight and die in the wars. How can we de-humanize the Libyan fight for freedom and our new role in it using such crass and immature labels? We are either fighting for a worthy goal or not.

A ‘no-fly’ zone is not a worthy goal. A ‘no-drive’ zone is even more pathetic. Freedom for the oppressed people of Libya is the minimal reason to blow bodies apart and destroy individuals and families alike.

Hillary may have gotten her chance to make a moral stand, but its morality is now lost behind the slippery and idiotic language of the UN.

If he was going to help in some way why not choose Egypt? Why Libya?

AJ I can’t read your original blog……it is stuck on Feb 23th. Does it have a problem or do I? Please help! Kathie

    Obama’s dithering was awful.
However, I am not happy we will be entangled in Libya.
    War is war.
USA will be blamed no matter what.
    Just look at the Iraqis.
We liberated them, and they are asking for reparations for “damages to the infrastructure”.
Heck, we should get their oil, because the left told the world we went to war for their oil, no?
After Iraq, we ended up with a $1T in additional debt, used military equipment, strained forces, no oil for us, a much more divided public at home, Iran emboldened and ready to take over a Shiite Iraq and so forth.
So, nothing to gloat about our Libya intervention.

Obama is now just making it up as he putz… er, putts. Either way.

Kathie, try using a different browser, like Chrome. For whatever reason, Firefox and WordPress don’t always get along.

Saw a headline this morning – “Cease Fire Goal: Avoid Intervention”

Why not just say “Cease Fire Goal: We Won’t Do Crap!”

Either one is just as likely to strike fear into Gaddafi’s black heart.

    what a pack of idiots.

The main stream media has moved on from Egypt after covering it non-stop while people were in the street yelling and screaming. Now the important stuff is coming up and they like the president, AWOL.

Tomorrow is a vote that will have a profound effect on the stability of the middle east and especially Israel’s survival. We should be watching.

    “HotAir” has some information.
A yes vote serves the Muslim Brotherhood, says Bargisi, “because it is the only experienced political faction outside the former president’s National Democratic Party. The Brotherhood is better at negotiating, and cutting deals than the other players.” If the youth that were in the street can prevail with a NO vote it would be a step toward the democratic country they want. Let’s hope!

WWS, what you said does work, but it’s strange, I use Firefox 99% of the time and this site is the only one that has a problem. It did stay on the same post for several days, but that problem went away. The only remaining problem is it won’t let me log on for comments (I had to log in on IE)

    anyhow, my comment.

I don’t know how we know who are the bad guys and who are the good guys in Libya. While we all know Qaddafi is a bad guy, we don’t know if the alternative is going to be even worse.
We do know that in Egypt, it appears that the alternative is going to be the MB, which will most likely be much worse.
Libya may end up as a choice between bad and worse. I am very much for the people in Libya having freedom, but I’m just not sure that there is anything in the works that is going to result in that end. They may be just jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
The more obama plays golf, picks basketball teams and flies to Rio, the less time he is spending putting the US deeper into a hole. I hope he stays in Rio, at least through the summer.

Yesterday, Farrakhan on the radio…..speaking of Obama calling for action in Libya.
Louis Farrakhan with radio host Cliff Kelley on WVON-AM 1690 Chicago

FARRAKHAN: “I warn my brother do you let these wicked demons move you in a direction that will absolutely ruin your future with your people in Africa and throughout the Arab world…Why don’t you organize a group of respected Americans and ask for a meeting with Qaddafi, you can’t order him to step down and get out, who the hell do you think you are?

Farrakhan and Obama are friends. They actually went to Libya together in 1994, I think that was the year????

Scratch visit to Libya of Obama.

  11. kathie says:

    OH NO!

    SHOCK AND AWE–
Obama bombed Libya 8 years to the day that the US bombed Baghdad.

IS OBAMA A GEORGE BUSH COPY-CAT! Looks like it to me. Not an original thought!

  13. WWS says:

Unless he is incredibly lucky, Obama is about to prove that a half hearted bare minimum “intervention” will in the end cost far more and cause more casualties and destruction than any honest and robust military operation.

Here’s why: any military strategist knows that the lowest cost in money, material, and men comes about by bringing about the end of the conflict as quickly as possible. For this reason a rational operation would go in *not* to just do some questionable “no-fly” zone but instead to decapitate the government in question and eliminate all of their strengths (ie, military and quasi-military forces) as quickly as possible. For example, all government buildings in Tripoli could be knocked out of action in a single night, as could all military bases. Once those are gone, the dictator falls and the situation is over.

BUT… it looks like we are just going to try and freeze the situation where it is, with Qaddafi still in control of Tripoli. How is that a stable situation? That just *guarantees* an on the ground civil war that will go on for months with who knows how many casualties and how much destruction. AND by the attacks tonight, all countries involved have now brought about a state of war with Qaddafi, there’s no stepping back from that. What happens if he continues to rout the rebels? We can’t stand by and let him win now, we *have* to see that he is removed. We say we’re not going to arm the rebels, but if they’re about to lose we’ll *have* to. We say we’re not going to put troops on the ground, but if Qaddafi is about to win, someone is going to *have* to. We’ve already crossed the point of no return, tonight.

but Obama still hasn’t figured that out. And everything that happens from here on out is going to be a big surprise to him, even though it’s all predictable as hell.

  14. joe six-pack says:

WWS: I agree. President Obama is in over his head. What is worse, he does not listen. His way or the highway. This has been shown in a number of situations, but the most obvious was demonstrated by the health care issue when he and the Democrats went ahead and did not listen to the American people.

This is a dangerous pattern because when a leader does not listen, he is robbed of that vital balance that all good decision makers need.

  15. kathie says:

Why not send one of those Cruz-Missiles through Gadaffi’s window. If you are going to be a copy-cat, why not copy the best?

  16. WWS says:

I wonder what they’re going to do if QaDaffy decides that he’s got nothing left to lose and starts blowing up all of his oilfields, just to spite his enemies.

Saddam did it in Kuwait. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s started planting the explosives needed already.

btw – I saw some CNN anchor tonight ask a military analyst (seriously!) “Now that QaDaffy sees that the rest of the world is against him and he can’t win, won’t he see that he has to quit???”
    Idiot.
