Obama White House Lies About Sit Room Photo

Published by at 7:29 am under All General Discussions

Folks, it does not take a rocket scientist to prove the White House lied when it put out this photo while claiming it was in the White House Situation Room during the Bin Laden take down (click to enlarge):

This is what the White House Situation Room looks like (click to enlarge):

Not only is the Commander-in-Chief sitting to the side as a mere spectator, hot off the golf course. But the idea the White House claimed this was the Situation Room, and NO news media outlet called them on this bold face lie, is a serious breach in the public trust.

How could anyone confuse these two settings?

Addendum: It looks like where the photo was taken is in the complex area of the situation room, in this tiny side conference room. How strange to find this historic moment being run out of a tiny conference room with POTUS sitting on the sideline.

BTW, this is not even the President’ briefing room – which one would assume would be choice number 2 over the Sit Room itself.

It isn’t like this just sprung on them last weekend, they have had this in the planning for months and months along with countless meetings and briefings and yet they come out of the box looking like nobody can get their spin in gear.

Snapple; 1) obviously you’re a Russian emigre because no one else in this english-speaking world pays any attention to what happens in Russia anymore or to the changing names of the thieves in charge. Russia today has no more influence on world affairs than Guatemala, although it drives Russians insane to admit that.

But don’t worry, if something really important happens the Chinese will tell you what to do. Just make sure and salute when they do.

    2) that means that like almost all Russians you have still never truly come to terms with the Triumph of the West. No Russian can bear to admit that their entire culture committed suicide 80 years ago and all that is left is a sad, rotting corpse, one of history’s most tragic Dead Ends.

    3) more than anything else this explains why you find such kindred spirits in the Democrats. They would have followed Lysenko blindly, too.

    Clarice’s Pieces: About Abbottabad

There are few English language papers in Pakistan. One of the leading ones is Dawn which reports the defense of the Pakistan authorities on the question of their knowledge.

Asked why they had not checked out a building so close a major military facility the ISI said that the compound had actually been raided when the house was under construction in 2003 when the authorities believed an Al Qaeda operative Abu Faraj Al Libbi was there. On that occasion he escaped.

So, there you have it: They raided the House in 2003 and found out a major Al Qaeda operative was there, an operative who — oh my — miraculously escaped their reach so a few years later when another mysterious, well-guarded stranger moved in, very near the Pakistan equivalent of West Point, they never bothered to check him out.

The buzz around here was that that was even lamer than the White House explanation of what happened.

  5. MerlinOS2 says:

How bad is it when you begin to think that David Cameron could have probably managed this better?

  6. crosspatch says:

MerlinOS2, the Pakistani explanation gets even lamer when you look at satellite images for 2004 and see that the building site was still an empty field. There was nothing to raid in 2003 so the entire line from Pakistan is silly.

Agreed CP not a lot of the fact checking on almost any part of this stands up to confirm what is being tossed out there.

I have seen one report that says the police or the army were in the area telling residents to stay inside and keep their lights off.

Now we have to consider that maybe Pakistan on some level was given a heads up on this (not for ISI consumption) and that what we see from them is faux outrage giving them plausible deniability when they have so many there who give support to the Taliban and AQ.

The Situation Room consists on not only the main Situation Room but a couple of video conference rooms and the Presidential Briefing Room and even a personal office for the President.

Which room was actually used here is still out for debate and is only a small feature of a much larger story. I tend to go with this being just another staged photo op and not possibly where the real deal went down. But there are reports that push you in many directions and who knows (outside of those at the thing) which is the real deal.

In the basement under those rooms is the NSC watch center also known as the Surge Room where they surge people and analysts in support of events. It is the Fusion Center for all the intel that gets routed into the White House and likely provides the feeds to the various rooms that make up the Situation Room and all the others on the floor above.

CIA Reveals Diagrams And Aerial Photos Of The Bin Laden Compound

This large compound, protected by concrete walls and barbed wire, was built for to shelter Bin Laden in 2005. 22 people were living in the building, and all of them were killed or captured by Seal Team 6.

  11. MerlinOS2 says:

This was a belt and suspenders operation with backups to backups (see the chopper that managed to extract the team even with the loss of a chopper)

From all reports there are massive amounts of data ,computers and paperwork that was extracted along with a body of Bin Laden. You don’t do that in a foot locker.

My bets are on there was a B2 just over the border or possibly even overhead to do the blow it all to hell option if it even looked like the ISI had gotten a leak and told HVT-1 to take a walk.

What will China get out of that tail wind of the blown up helicopter? Ways to suppress sound?

“What will China get out of that tail of the blown up helicopter?”

maybe the formula for our best, strongest, stealthiest composite plastics.

I can see how they would find that useful.

The wife says they were there for five years or more and never left the house after a couple years in another village. People in the house did not leave with a few exceptions. Even when the couriers left (the dots which connected back to here) they didn’t even put a battery into their cell phones until they were 90 minutes away. All signs HVT-1 was in place and being protected.

As to the raid I just have to think that the team was all sorts of highly kinetic and the take down phase just wasn’t that long. More time was likely spent exploiting computers on site that were up an running and questioning others on site for lots of info. From what I read the amount brought out was bigger than a bread box but smaller than a semi trailer. Likely another chopper was staged just in case that came out.

This was a in depth high value target to exploit and NO EFFORTS would be shorted. Just my speculation and feel free to differ on this but I think the Pakistan government was alerted (which explains why we could get right into their full coverage airspace right near their capitol) and told if the ISI gets a breath of this you won’t like the outcome. That gave the government a plausible deniability small token in a country that has so many that support the Taliban and AQ. After that they could play their faux outrage card. The backup for that was likely a B2 sitting over the border or even overhead with the option to smoke anything that moved if it even gave the slightest hint the ISI told HVT-1 to move it or lose it.

After scouring all leads on this story on the net you almost draw the conclusion that Obama had approved the mission option but there is some evidence he thought it would take a long while to get geared up not realizing that the preps and training for the mission were already done via the CIA. Even if he knew this was the status the photo from one of the smaller rooms in the Situation Room complex seems to support he was brought in off the golf course for something already in progress. Now some of the leaked reports of the view at the time don’t jive with this being the actual room they were in since they talk about people pacing around while they lost the video feed for some time. That would lead you to conclude they were in fact in the larger real Situation Room for the event and not this smaller video conference room or perhaps even the Presidential Briefing Room. So could this just be another post event staged photo. Who knows except for those who were there. Point of protocol here NOBODY BUT NOBODY sits in the President’s chair…. that just doesn’t happen.

Now some of what I read (your mileage may vary) is that Obama and Jarrett were dragging their feet on this and others were pushing for a go. But then there was a dump to WikiLeaks which made the Abbotabad connection and that could have forced the timing here since someone could have warned Osama it was time to move. Reports say that the CIA even had a safe house nearby to observe the compound. So what this all boils down too you could draw the conclusion from the reports we have that Obama was presented with a plan in motion and that he had pretty much only the option to abort the mission already in flight when he arrived. He was giving a put up or shut up option on one of the best sourced and highest probability chances to take Bin Laden down. After that played out the rest is the public image stuff we have …

Now even if you take into account that the choppers used were ‘low observable’ nobody claims they were invisible.

Just look at the map and they were almost on the final approach to Islamabad International Airport.

Now unless you buy into their air traffic controllers were union guys either asleep at the wheel or watching a dvd there has to be a bit of head scratching going on here.

Now the only other option here is that in the ‘package’ that was flying air cover there was a jammer that was blinding all to what was being hidden in plain sight.

After all they were only miles away from the capitol and well within the SAM air defense zone around it.
