Romney Is Unacceptable – Period

Published by at 10:12 am under All General Discussions

Just a short post today, but not much needs to be said since Mitt Romney has proven himself to be nothing more than Obama-lite on Global Warming:

The early GOP presidential front-runner has broken with his party’s conservative ranks to declare global warming a real threat to the planet that merits some sort of action to curb heat-trapping emissions.

Sorry, but Romney does not have the IQ, science and math background to understand this issue – and he is wrong. I will not go into all the ways the global warming farce has been proven wrong over the last two decades. Suffice to say the sky is not falling as predicted. Worse yet, the IPCC predictions became so outrageous as to be laughable. We even learned data disproving the wild claims of runaway warming never before seen in a thousand years was covered up and we are no warmer now than in the 1930’s, Medieval Times or Roman Warm Period.

So for Romney to claim, without any evidence he actually grasps the technical nuances of the matter, Global Warming is real and we need to waste money on it is the final straw. No way, no how – and no need.

The guy is for government run health care and believes in the fantasy of Global Warming. So how exactly is this a better choice than Obama?

The last thing we need to do is hand to Romney a GOP run Congress in 2012 so he can do his version of Global Disaster Obama! Actually, I would rather have a GOP Congress with heavy majorities using the veto override on an impotent Obama than give Romney even as much as an inch to repeat Obama’s mistakes. Obama can do nothing with a GOP Congress, Romney could. So don’t think Obama could not win another term if what we need was a powerless figure head playing golf all the time.

Sorry, I would rather have Romney than Obama. You said: “I would rather have a GOP Congress with heavy majorities using the veto override on an impotent Obama than give Romney even as much as an inch to repeat Obama’s mistakes.” but that sort of puts the cart before the horse. It isn’t a Congress that allows a President to do things so much as it is a President that allows a Congress to do them.

Without a Republican President, Congress won’t be able to do much. That said, I certainly won’t be voting for Romney in the primary but if he were the nominee, I would vote for him over Obama.

In fact, I am willing to bet that Romney wins your state primary, AJ and I’ll tell you why. Virginia has an open primary. A lot of Democrats aren’t going to want to vote for Obama but the Democrats aren’t running a candidate against him in the primary so a lot of them are going to cross over and vote for Romney. Romney is going to be the Democrat opposing Obama, for all practical purposes. That said, Romney is an effective executive, would staff govt. with people having some real world experience, and would cast out Obama’s ideologues.

CP – Romney has no hope in VA, that much I can tell you. I don’t think Romney will win now, too much baggage.

What worries me is he has some serious backing from the same party morons who got us into this mess, and who love DC power (in other words, they will NEVER reduce the role of government).

No, I am pretty sure it would be better to have divided government and run change through the Congress – which can override a President.

  3. dhunter says:

I agree AJ. The more things change the more they stay the same.

I vividly remember using this same logic when in the primaries it appeared McCain was gonna be the nominee, and virtually everything he has said since he lied to the AZ voters to get re-elected has proven me correct.
The Republican Party under McCain would be getting the blame for the economic disasters now had he been the POTUS and he is fully invested in OBamas illegal lybian adventure and submitting the US armed forces to the whims of a campaigning President and NATO.
The establishment is corrupt and only one person will change that, the person they fear the most and are doing their utmost to marginalize and convince to not run.
Sarah will sell the politicians adornments on ebay and throw the Presstitute media to the wolves along with the corrupt careerists that have gotten us into the mess we are currently in. She will replace them with Americans who have worked and accomplished something other than run for office.
She is wise to let the Establishment favorites self destruct while building her case with the grass roots and avoiding the Presstitute hoards who are just out to protect their cocktail parties and shoulder rubbing Balls with the Establishment hacks.

Somebody forgot to tell Romney that, if you’re going to pander for leftist votes, you wait until after you have the GOP nomination sewn up. He’s just lost any chance at that. What a dunce!

  5. lurker9876 says:

I won’t vote for Mitt in the primary. But if he wins the nomination for the general election, I will vote for him for one reason…kick Obama out of the office.

Mitt would be similar to Bush and McCain in many ways and many of us will not be happy with him.

I will find someone else to vote for in the primary.

But I believe that Mitt is done.

And I’d rather vote for Perry over Mitt but Perry’s not my first choice…yet.

  6. crosspatch says:

While I would agree that Romney has no hope among Republicans, Virgina has an open primary and might get enough Democrats to vote for him to win. In other words, it won’t be Republicans pushing him to victory in the primary, it will be Democrats.

  7. MerlinOS2 says:

My stance right now is put a repub into the office even if he is just a place holder to keep the seat warm until some real candidate runs in 2016.

From what I see of this field so far it consists of cannon fodder out there for effect more than anything else.

A good argument could be made that this is a half effort campaign that perceives they won’t be able to match up to the Obama money machine.

So it is just going through the motions and really keeping their powder dry for 2016.

We do need to have a repub in office to remove most of those appointments that are doing far more damage behind the scenes and so forth. It will take nearly a generation if we can even counter the worst of the regulations and rules that have been put into place.

  8. mmatters says:

AJ, you could not be more correct.

    Not this Mitt again.

  9. MerlinOS2 says:

A run by Mitt will take away solid opposition to Obama on things like his out of control EPA and he will also be hard pressed to combat him on the health care issue.

That is giving up way to much of a handicap.

  10. […] Romney thinks global warming is a serious issue – partially created by humans – that we must solve. AJ Strata at Strata-Sphere Blog points out Romney has no clue what he’s talking about. […]

  11. WWS says:

I’ve chosen – I’m all in on Pawlenty.

Pawlenty-Cain would be an interesting ticket.

  12. crosspatch says:

I don’t see Romney as favoring an “out of control EPA”. Again, I won’t be voting for him in the primary but if he is the nominee, I will vote for him over Obama. Given those two choices, sitting out that position on the ballot would (again) be handing the election to Obama. We can’t afford that.

  13. lurker9876 says:

wws, I’m liking tPaw after this week. I also like your ticket suggestion because that will free up the Republicans and independents from being called racists if they vote against Obama. The good thing about Cain is that he has the virtue, integrity, and principles.

I am certainly glad the “Mittster” stepped in this pile.

Hopefully Rick Perry will find this “Mitt misstep” as a opening to get into the race.

If Perry jumps in, I think he instantly will be the front runner with the conservatives wing.

If Perry stays out I think this helps everyone else, except the Newt, who believes in man made global warming also.

    I still like Michelle.

  15. jan says:

I agree with crosspatch in that you vote for your choice in the primary. However, if Romney happens to win, then I would vote for him in the general election. Romney may not be the best conservative candidate, but he is light years ahead of obama. And, then again you have the SCOTUS to be concerned about, and the appointments that might have to be made in that 4 year term, after 2012. Ginsburg is sure to retire by then. And, even some of the other conservative jurists are getting up there in age.

I also am on the same page with WWS with his ticket of Pawlenty/Cain for many of the same reasons as stated by Lurker. Pawlenty is growing on me, especially after he came out with some of his ambitious budget proposals. I don’t agree with everything he said. But, they are certainly pro-business and growth.

  16. lukehashj says:

To say that global warming is a lie is simply spreading misinformation like an echo chamber.

There are 6,775,235,700 people on the planet.
The average person consumes 2803 kcals per day.

Multiply these two values to get 18,990,985,667,100 kcals.
That’s the energy equivalent of 13,564,740 barrels of oil every day.

What this means is that people, just by eating, are producing 13.5 million barrels of oil worth of heat energy EVERY DAY.

This warms the earth, and it is a BLATANT LIE to say otherwise.

  17. AJStrata says:

    Luke,

Please provide your science and/or engineering background, because as anyone (and everyone) knows energy cannot be consumed or created – simply transformed.

What you have discovered (a tad late, clearly) is that life (all forms) diverts energy from entropy and into stable structures. It delays the loss of energy captured by the sun (from plants) and then it cascades through the food chain.

So those calories you so conveniently calculated are actually INITIALLY consumed by plants, and then through the food chain support human organisms.

We do not “heat” the Earth, we live off the energy gradient that is diverted by plants and other animals. We transfer heat into work – every time we walk heat that was trapped is expended as energy. Same thing for building each and ever organism alive.

And you are a fool – for not knowing the obvious.

Come back as much as you like, but be prepared. I actually do know an incredible amount all forms of physical and life sciences first hand, including what is firm scientific fact (e.g. Newtonian and Keplerian Physics) and what is pure conjecture (AGW).

    Good smackdown, AJ!

And after Mitts comments about man-made global warming I was floored! What on earth was he thinking?!

I’m thinking Perry or even Palin!

  19. crosspatch says:

I am waiting to see if Perry joins the race. He has a solid track record of policies that lead to economic growth. I can certainly vote for him. The problem I see is that the crossover Democrats in open primary states will swamp the Republicans in many states.

But again, I won’t be voting for Mitt in the primary and I don’t believe there is anything he can say that would make me likely to. I believe his comments are pandering to Democrats. He knows that a lot of large states with a lot of delegates are now open primaries. He knows he can win by wooing Democrats to cross over and vote for him and I believe a lot of them will.

But so far of all the potential candidates, Perry is my favorite based on his track record. He has shown that he can do the job, in my opinion.

  20. alwyr says:

AJ I honestly believe this country (under Mr. Obama’s ‘stewardship’) is doomed if the electorate gives him 4 more years. Consequently, I have reached the point where I am prepared to (and will) vote for ANYBODY but Obama if that’s what it takes to get him out of office. Personally, I don’t believe I have the ‘luxury’ for unwaveringly writing off any potential candidate who seeks the R nomination. Under the circumstances, neither should you.
