Our President Is Now Certifiably Delusional
There is no way to sanely resolve these two items. First, Obama’s fantasy world:
President Obama on Friday kept up the pressure on Republicans to agree to revenue increases in a deal to raise the debt ceiling, claiming 80 percent of the public supports Democrats’ demand for tax increases.
Just 34% think a tax hike should be included in any legislation to raise the debt ceiling. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 55% disagree and say it should not.
And more reality here.
And the other clear indication of the public’s mood was the 2010 wipe out of ‘big government’ democrats across the land and from the local to the federal levels. Someone should assess whether our young President has finally succumbed to the stress of the job he has taken on and failed at.
Didn’t the Minnesota Governor just cave to the Republican budget because the people told him that they wanted the government to cut back. Pretty sure those comments did not include “We want tax hikes!”
Why the hell would we give the government more money to put in the pockets of the rich to then increase the gap between classes? Oh wait isn’t that what the Democrats claim Bush did with his tax cuts?
AJ,
There is nothing the Republicans can do to stop a default if Obama wants one.
Period.
Dot.
The upshot is that there is no down side for Republicans sticking to their guns on taxes, because if they give in on taxes, Obama will demand more and still default.
Sen Mitch McConnell is too damned stupid to realize this.
Trent,
McConnell has not given in on taxes in the deal … I assume you have other reasons for thinking he is too damn stupid but that can’t be one of them …
once again in the bubble around Obama he doesn’t see the real world where real people will answer a question one way but when given the real world choice they will do something else …
If you asked Americans the following:
Should President Obama veto a bill that cuts 500 billion in spending, has not tax increases and extends the debt ceiling by 500 billion and averts a default ?
My bet is that NO would poll at 80-90% … maybe higher …
The Republicans will either hold the line on the debt ceiling – i.e. no increase in taxes and current cuts at least equal to the increase in the debt ceiling – or they will destroy the party.
As DJStrata has pointed out, the win by Republicans in Minnesota was *huge* – so of course, the MSM is trying to talk about it as little as possible. (in our local paper it was a 2 paragraph item on page 6! LOL)
But that doesn’t matter – now *every* officeholder in Washington, rep and dem, knows that the class warfare pitch failed in liberal Minnesota and the Dem’s had to cave. This gives the Republicans the nerve they needed and strikes fear into the heart of everyone who’s up for election in 2012.
I thought the Minnesota fight would go on a *lot* longer, and never dared to hope that the Dem’s would cave this easily!

Making up statistics to support whatever position is desired at the moment is a Saul Alinsky type tool that has been used by the left for years. the reasoning is that nobody is going to know the difference or look it up. Just look at the garbage the public was fed about global warming. That’s just the most glaring example.
When 50% of the people pay NO taxes, a poll that says 80% of the people want MORE taxes (if there were such a poll) would not be surprising – but to report on it properly, one would have to subtract 50%. Of course the 50% who pay NO taxes want the rest of us to pay more.
Where is the poll that asks only the 50% who do pay taxes?
Where is the reporter who reports this when discussing the President’s assertion?
Where is the President who is the President of all the people, not just the President of the 50% who do not pay and the Bankers.
This President represents the teeny tiny top who fill his coffers – the super super super wealthy – and he gives lip service to representing the poor.
momdear, 84% of statistics are just made up on the spot.
