Trayvon’s Girlfriend Key To Martin Case

Published by at 9:50 am under All General Discussions,Trayvon Martin Case

This should be the last post on the Trayvon Martin case for a while – unless some details pop out this week from the discovery. As I was doing my last round of news searches, something came out last night from the Zimmerman camp that caught my eye, and confirmed my suspicions (that it would be the testimony of Martin’s girlfriend that seals Zimmerman’s conviction). The source of the enlightening comment? Zimmerman’s father (apparently a judge):

He [Zimmerman’s father] believes medical records and photos – released to the defense on Monday – will prove his son was injured by Trayvon [1] when the two met in a gated community’s dark pathway. He said voice tests will show George Zimmerman didn’t lie and an eyewitness will back up his account. The girl who claims to have been on the phone talking to the teenager when the incident occurred will be proved a liar [2], Zimmerman insists.

Oh good Lord – this is how they plan to win a trial? First off, no one disputes the physical altercation or that George Zimmerman got some scrapes and bruises. The issue is who instigated the confrontation, who pushed this to a head. And in this situation we have ear-witness testimony that the instigator was Zimmerman, contrary to his statements to police. Here is what little we know about the girlfriend’s testimony:

In a dramatic press conference on Tuesday, the Martin family’s lawyer Benjamin Crump detailed how the unnamed girl – a minor who was so traumatised by Martin’s death she was taken to hospital at his wake – was talking to him on his cell phone in the minutes leading up to his death, and heard the altercation with his killer.

Crump said that during the final phone call with his girlfriend, who was back home in Miami, Martin told her that a stranger was following him, according to an affidavit she recorded. Martin had then tried unsuccessfully to get away from the stranger.

“He says: ‘Oh, he’s right behind me. He’s right behind me again,'” Crump said the girl told him. “She says: ‘Run.’ He says: ‘I’m not going to run, I’m just going to walk fast.’

She then heard Martin saying “Why are you following me” and another voice saying “What are you doing here? She told Crump they both repeated themselves, and then she thinks she heard Zimmerman push Martin “because his voice changes, like something interrupted his speech.” She heard an altercation and then the phone call was cut off, Crump said.

This does blow Zimmerman’s statement made to police at the time out of the water. I would suspect Zimmerman had no idea Martin was on the phone and someone was listening in. So he makes up a story about being ambushed from behind to augment his self defense claim. Little did he know a 3rd person was there that night – virtually.

This testimony is in complete contradiction to Zimmerman’s, and it is powerful (and of equal weight to anything Zimmerman claims). It indicates Martin tries numerous times to get away from Zimmerman who stalks the kid (armed of course). It indicates Zimmerman was not ambushed, but came up to Martin and challenged him. And it also implies Zimmerman started the physical altercation.

If Zimmerman’s father believes the defense will prove her a liar (which is way too harsh) and that will save his son – he is being foolish. She is going to be an unimpeachable witness. She is going to provide details Zimmerman thought he could cover up when he concocted his story.

And it is clear from the elder Zimmerman’s harsh statement it is the girlfriend’s testimony that is most dangerous to his son’s defense.

Zimmerman is now caught in a lie, and somehow must prove to judge or jury the girlfriend made up her testimony. Won’t happen. There is no motive. The defense has relied on this all about Zimmerman being attacked. Now we have confirmation it was Martin who was attacked.

And under stand your ground he had every right to beat Zimmerman’s head against the ground in self defense.

The way I understand it, is the next step is the SYG hearing. All the defense has to do is convince the judge that Zimmerman believed his life was in danger.

    And the charges get tossed.

    Great read…

If all this ‘new’ info came from ABC News, that paragon of virtue as a news organization, we have to be very careful as to it’s accuracy. ABC is less that 50% accurate. But that said:
Trayvon, that young angelic kid, Marywana? really ? who would’ve thunk it (other than me)

It is also interesting the list of items the police reported recovered: It did NOT include a can of iced tea and it did NOT include a cellphone.
So, now that question is back up, where is his cell phone? did he have one? did anyone carry on a conversation with this person that did not have a cell phone on their person? OK, I’m sure someone is gonna say it was there, they didn’t ‘list’ it. Really? so, what else was there that they just ‘didn’t’ list? If we can’t trust them to do something as simple as list the items on a dead person, how can we trust anything else they did?

Now for the statement that all this would have been avoided if Zimmerman had stayed in his truck.

Ask yourself, would all of this have been avoided if Martin had stayed in his apartment? Was Zimmerman ‘more’ obligated to stay in his truck than Martin was obligated to stay in his apartment?

    Just asking….

ABC News: Cops, Witnesses Back Up George Zimmerman’s Version of Trayvon Martin Shooting
    http://abcnews.go.com/US/cops-witnesses-back-george-zimmermans-version/story?id=16371852

“The reports also note that two witness accounts appear to back up Zimmerman’s version of what happened when they describe a man on his back with another person wearing a hoodie straddling him and throwing punches.”

“The autopsy also shows that Zimmerman shot Martin from a distance of between 1 inch and 18 inches away, bolstering Zimmerman’s claim that he shot Martin during a close struggle.”

“Martin had THC, the drug found in marijuana, in his blood on the night of his death, according to the autopsy.”

    Ummmm…. RT….

The cell phone, the Skittles, and the can of iced tea ARE all listed in the police records:

Red…”Now for the statement that all this would have been avoided if Zimmerman had stayed in his truck.”

I saw this in the comments section at Legalinsurrection:

“You know, that whole Pearl Harbor thing was ultimately avoidable if the Navy had just stayed in California. I mean, being in Hawaii was practically begging to be attacked. But no, those white people had to profile the Japanese and stick their nose where it wasn’t wanted. If you think about it, we really sort of had it coming. You know, ’cause of racism.”

  7. Redteam says:

Marsh, yes it’s amazing how many times I’ve seen that statement that ‘it could have been avoided if Zimmerman had stayed in his truck’

it is very similar to that statement about pearl harbor.
I wonder why no one is defending Zimmerman’s right to have been born?

After all, if he had never been born, he would never have shot Martin.
Both of those two people were 100% within their rights to be where they were, when they were. Neither was more ‘right’ than the other, even tho Zimmerman did ‘live’ there vs Martin only visiting there, but that doesn’t ‘lessen’ his right to be there.
If Martin thought he had a ‘right’ to bash Zimmerman’s head onto the concrete until he was either unconscious or dead, then surely he recognized Zimmerman’s ‘right’ to ventilate his rib cage. Had Martin correctly recognized Zimmerman’s right to call the police and report him and keep an eye on him until the police arrived to check him out, all this would have been avoided, but noooo….

Does anyone but me find it interesting that the ‘victims’ headphones were recovered ‘in his pockets’?
Let’s see how that came down….

Martin was walking along with his earphones while talking ‘hands free’ so Zimmerman wouldn’t know that he had an ‘earphone’ witness. But then Zimmerman shoved Martin, Martin then regained his balance, hit Zimmerman, knocking him down, allowing Martin time to recover his headphones (which according to his girlfriend) had fallen off. After recovering them he then put them in his pocket, then proceeded to get on top of Zimmerman and commence to bang his head on the concrete. Sounds logical…let’s run with that…

  9. Marsh says:

“Does anyone but me find it interesting that the ‘victims’ headphones were recovered ‘in his pockets’?”

Ohhh, I hadn’t read that. I sure do find that interesting.

  10. Marsh says:

Not as note worthy as the headphones being found in his pocket, Red, but I did notice that TM had his hood up at the 711. And according to Dee Dee, TM put his hood on when he noticed Zimmerman was following him.

So does this mean he took his hood off when he went back outside in the rain and then put it back on when he ran away from Zimmerman?

  11. Redteam says:

Yeah, those little things are going to discredit Martin’s girlfriend, just emphasizes that what she was telling (or quoted as saying) was hearsay. She just guessed at what was happening based on what her conversation was, but remember it was 6 weeks later before she even decided to tell anyone about what she thought happened.

I also find it interesting that Martin was clearly on Marijuana based on his blood and urine tests and at a level consistent with ‘habitual’ users.
So this sweet young angelic kid, high on marijuana (as Zimmerman said “looks like he’s on drugs or something”) walking along in the rain without his hoodie on his head(but he put it on when Zimmerman saw him) and with his earphones on (which Zimmerman knocked off, so he put them in his pocket)

That political hack prosecutor must have been hallucinogenic when she reviewed the evidence. She stands in danger of having a civil suit against her for malicious prosecution. The case will never go to trial… The Florida attorney general isn’t interested in Florida police being portrayed as Keystone Kops.

  12. Redteam says:

It is amazing how the recent dump of evidence has quietened the acclamations of innocence on the part of Trayvon Martin supporters. Once the little points such as earphones in pocket, skinned knuckles, heavy marijuana usage test results came out, it is a little more difficult to cling to his angelic virgin status.
Yes, the light of day has illuminated the truth.

  13. Marsh says:

Hey, RT, any idea what grass sounds like? Dee Dee said she heard it.
