After Wasting Tax Money, Government Confiscates More Money To Fix Their Mess

I am still feeling the tax sting this year as new rates and taxes gouge our tiny company. The result – had to lay someone off. Yep, when it comes down to paying taxes or paying employees the tax man wins out.

Sequestration is causing government programs to freeze up as they try and find cuts Congress was too Chicken Sh*t to do themselves (note: Senate just passed their first budget in four years, but is doomed to fail passage). So trying to find new opportunities is impossible. In other words, checkmate: higher taxes, no opportunities to grow. I doubt we are alone.

The only good news: at least we are not yet Europe (yet):

Savings accounts in Spain, Italy and other European countries will be raided if needed to preserve Europe’s single currency by propping up failing banks, a senior eurozone official has announced.

The new policy will alarm hundreds of thousands of British expatriates who live and have transferred their savings, proceeds from house sales and other assets to eurozone bank accounts in countries such as France, Spain and Italy.

So what is Europe’s answer to government spending beyond it means? Steal 40% of the savings of the wealthy:

Michael Sarris also warned depositors with funds of more than €100,000 could lose 40 per cent of their deposits. Banks will remain closed until Thursday to prevent a run on deposits once they reopen.

This is crazy. You work your entire life and create a nest egg just to have bureaucrats, who are unable to manage the tax money you provided all your life, come take even more of your hard earned money because – let’s be honest here – they are incompetent boobs. And criminals to boot, since negligence, waste and fraud in terms of the public funds is a crime.

Right now the Democrats (and GOP) in DC borrow 40 cents for every dollar they spend because they can’t figure out how to live within a budget. They are borrowing in OUR NAME (and the names of our children and grand children). And what do they do with this money?

Alameda County supervisors have really taken to heart the adage that government should run like a business — rewarding County Administrator Susan Muranishi with the Wall Street-like wage of $423,664 a year.

For the rest of her life.

Yep. They line their pockets. Welcome to the new Robber Barons – who steal from the poor and give to themselves via government programs, pay and pensions. The new greed is government largesse.

Update: And why do they steal from us and our kids? Because they know so much better than we do!

Mike Bloomberg: “I do think there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom”

And I feel there are times Pols like this should be charged with crimes against humanity….

But, did you not hear President Obama say that we don’t have a spending problem?
Therefore, we must have a revenue problem.

OH! We have a revenue problem alright. The problem is that it is always easier to spend other people’s money than your own. I have lots of investments for YOUR money.

I feel your pain. In my case, I have had to take on more and more risky projects, engaging with businesses that are less likely to be reliable payers, or more likely to go into bankruptcy; or taking on products that are less likely to be successful but is necessary because the existing products are simply not providing enough income. We MUST innovate, not because of market forces but because of over bearing, over intrusive Government. We are being policed into dangerous business models. The forces of higher taxes and greater regulation pushes individuals and organizations into far more risky ventures than they otherwise would. Or, the alternative is to accept the mediocrity of working with Government and lining up at the trough along with all the other well connected or lawyered up outfits. The imposition of Government into our lives, our businesses and our public squares turns private into public which is always inefficient, ineffective and corrupts the commons. Forget the tragedy of the commons as we know it. Once the Government controls the commons everyone loses except for the bureaucrat and he posts our supposed collective success on the notice board even while the rest suffer the deprivations.
