Zarqawi Dominos Starting To Fall

Published by at 11:01 pm under All General Discussions,Iraq

Tipping points are events which create a cascade of events which can totally change the dynamics of a situation dramatically. Zarqawi’s destruction was a tipping point. Not politically (at least not yet), but tactically. The reason being he had with him information key to rolling up his organization and dealing a death blow to Al Qaeda in Iraq. That in itself is a domino which will, in all likelihood, start the change politically in Iraq which will ripple out and reach our shores by end of summer. We can see it beginning right now:

Flush with intelligence, the U.S. military moved quickly Friday to take advantage of the power vacuum left by the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, carrying out nearly 40 raids in an effort to stop his terror network from regrouping.

A U.S. military search of the destroyed safehouse where the al-Qaida in Iraq leader was killed Wednesday yielded documents and information storage devices that are being assessed for potential use against his followers, a military officer said.

..

They also found documents and unspecified “media,” which the officer indicated normally means information storage devices such as computer hard drives and digital cameras or other data storage devices.

U.S. military spokesman Maj. Gen. William Caldwell said 39 raids were conducted across Iraq late Thursday and early Friday, including some directly related to the information they obtained from the strike against al-Zarqawi. Those were in addition to 17 raids carried out immediately after the terror leader was killed.

Each raid is another domino which unearths more leads and more raids. Al Qaeda’s cell structure is hard to penetrate from the bottom up, but it is easy to deal with when coming from the top down. That is because only few people are entrusted with the connections to other cells and upper levels, but the upper levels can run down the chain of command quickly and without alerting the unknowing lower levels.

The dominos will fall rapidly on Al  Qaeda over the next month, creating a an opportunity for the Iraqi government to establish itself and allow calm and optimism to take root.  As that happens the fighting will die out and the US will be able to start troop reductions.  My guess is the reductions will become real in the September timeframe – just in time to remind America which party has been trying to surrender and run away from the opportunities in Iraq.

As you know AJ there were 17 raids of places that were given “temporary amnesty” to not tip our hand on how close we where to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

These other short turnaround raids are followups from developed intel….sort of smacks of tactics and MO of Task Force 145.

In my view, to put it in the words of current culture phrasing, You go guys , getRdun.

I don’t know what they pay those guys, but it ain’t enough.

But somehow I know they would do it for free……….and for freedom.

I will make another off topic observation here in this post.

How is it that the democratic party has somehow morphed from the well supported position of JFK seeking the best and the brightest to the least and the dimmist.

My earlier post supported the concept of good people doing the right thing. This is a positive affirmation of humans reaching for a higher goal.

This is a situation that is somehow diminished on the left.

Well if they want to run on that agenda, so be it.

Real people develop real solutions, it is an inborne trait. Avoidance , disraction, and fluff are not normal humanly acceptabele options.

Only time will tell the tale of the final tally…………….we can only hope the choice is a good one…..

All Democrats care about is the power.

The shame of it is the Senate Republicans are not much better ( Secure Imigration). with out the house we would be in a world of hurt.

The problem with the Democrats is that it has become a disease.
they will do anything to get it back.

    This includes treason and sedition.

Or perhaps as Stratfor believes, a political deal resulted in the Sunni leadership delivering Zarqawi and all his henchman in one package (now more than 60 raids have been conducted). See this post at Tigerhawk for more details – http://tigerhawk.blogspot.com/2006/06/selling-out-of-abu-musab-al-zarqawi.html .

That’s 56 raids and counting. The good news just keeps coming.
