AJ,
You've painted the picture quite well -- the left & many of the dems have really lost it. Obviously, a lot of this frustration (& insanity) is due to 2000 & 2004 elections, but the roots are in Vietnam & Watergate.
Our current political leaders as well as those in the media are from this generation. From Vietnam, the hippie protesters and peaceniks "learned" that war is never right, and that anti-establishment and rude & crude works, and that the military must be bad. From Watergate, the lesson was that government cannot be trusted, that our governemnt is corrupt at heart -- it just takes a committed "journalist" to find the "truth". This combination, in conjunction with the liberal "farm systems" at our academic institutions, is fanning the flames of the anti-Bush and, frankly, anti-U.S. blather that we hear and read daily from the MSM.

This democracy thing is not always clean cut. Bush and his Attorney Generals and the military have handled this very well from the start. Civil courts are just a recipee for failure. Gitmo has kept these terrorist killers on ice for 5 years. If these terrorists remain there for the duration of hostilities, then all well and good. But it sounds like the trial lawyers want to get some traction and spring some of these jehadies. Some have been released already and gone back to killing. This promises to be a interesting summer.

These people are so nuts. Really. The Supreme Court made it plain those folks will stay right where they are for the forseeable future and the Bush administration can either court martial them or for that matter go to Congress and ask for legislation to make tribunals possible. If the Left wants to make an issue of this they can, but I have not talked to one person who wants to see those people at Gitmo walk, not one.

Well except on line and God knows who they might be.

The good guys won in this, no matter how it is spun, the terrorists will remain in Gitmo and they will be tried, most likely in a congressional authorized tribunal. So what if it's 5 years from now. Hell I don't care if they're never tried, that just means they stay where they are.

US Supreme Court does the right thing...

The US Supreme Court has ruled that the Bush Administration's plans to try captives from the war on Islamic Fundamentalist extremists in military tribunals without considering them prisoners of war is a non-starter. Click here to read the article in...

AJ

The have always been obsessive compulsive. Even on News and Notes on NPR last night one of the commentators said give the Dems a perfect opportunity and they will blow it.

Also the left keeps commenting on the death and horror of the war.

Can anyone tell me the last war we were in where 5 years after the initial attack, the military death toll was less than the number killed in the initial attack????

Each loss is dear, but this is a remarkable situation.
