Fitzgerald’s Office Leaks Bush Testimony

Published by at 2:03 pm under All General Discussions,Plame Game

In what could finally reign in Fitzgerald failed fishing expidition, it seems someone has leaked to the media what Bush testified about in the Plame Game soap opera.

The National Journal’s Murray Waas on Monday served up another sizzling exclusive, describing previously secret elements of President Bush’s interview in June 2004 with CIA leak investigation special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald.

According to Waas’s sources, Bush told Fitzgerald that he had directed Vice President Cheney in the summer of 2003 to counter damaging allegations being made by former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, and gave Cheney permission to disclose highly classified intelligence information to do so.

Murray Waas has been so wrong so many times I have not found the interest to even respond to his lates immitation of Jason Leapold, but I will note that a Federal Prosecutor who cannot honor the legal requirement to keep testimony of these investigations secret is in serious, serious trouble. My guess is the Plame Game was losing all its steam as it become known the Joe Wilson was a life long bud to Marc Grossman who worked for Richard Armitage who was the original source of the leak. In other words, the case against Libby is falling apart as Wilson and Grossman and Cooper have all been identified by Fitzgerald himself as witnesses with serious credibility issues. Given the fact Libby did not leak information about Plame to the media (an underlying assumption in the Libby indictment) it is becoming a joke of a trial. So why take the risk and piss off the President? Well, Fitzgerald has always been a pawn of the Wilson-Plame forces. He is as gullible as Lichtbau in believing the leftward fringe’s conspiracy theories. He went head-on into this trying to find the magic bullet showing a concerted effort to out Plame (as opposed to debunk Wilson). So far it is all debunk Wilson. So with Fitzgerald fizzling, his liberal ‘handlers’ probably leaked information that Fitzgerald ignorantly passed to them to create a public show down between Bush and Fitzgerald. Bush is not above the law, nor is he below it. He deserves the same basic legal rights as any other citizen.

What will Fitzgerald do? He has been caught with lose lips, exposing classified material to the press! His office is now guilty of the same kind of crime the left thought Rove did (but it turned out to be Armitage, who was suckered by the buddies Grossman and Wilson). The media is being manipulated. The prosecutor is being manipulated. They are both so gullible they have carried water for a partisan cabal inside government pining for Democrat wins (and cushy new jobs). But these handlers had to make up truly amazing stories (like the tracking of terrorist finances was a threat to US Citizen’s privacy) in order to get attention. And it is how these ‘amazing’ stories are crumbling in the light of day that is now fast becoming the news of the day. So, if Fitzgerald’s office violated its solemn duty to keep all the testimony secret, it is time to investigate the prosecutor!

For what it’s worth, the most popular tshirt in the area I live is as follows

So Bush told Cheney that he could tell press that it was the Brits that gave us the info, Cheney had not sent any one to Niger and that the assessment was backed up by bla bla bla. It seems to me that any highly clasified information that they had would not say anything about Plame or Wilson because who knew, and why would it be included in a brief, why would the CIA include Wilsons trip in a brief when they knew it was worthless. So what is Waas say really, nothing but he is implying that Bush told Cheney to tell about Plame.

Fire Mr. Fitzgerald unless he finds the leakers within a very short period of time.

This leak is illegal, and should be prosecuted.

Not a legal expert (where’s Clarice?), but this might give the Libby Defense team more ammo.

So Bush told Cheney to rebut the charges that were mainly against Cheney’s office?? Why? Suddenly the “authoritarian” vice president gets meek and asks for permission to rebut charges against his office?

Wilson was going primarily after Cheney with his false leaks in the Times and the Post. I don’t see why Bush would even be involved with this at all.

If you read Waas’ article, it doesn’t really say much. He’s basically rehashing Leopold’s innuendo-filled tripe from a while ago.

The clear “connection” you are supposed to come away with is that Bush told Cheney to leak Plame’s occupation. Of course, that’s not what happened, but oh well. That’s the innuendo Waas is going for, and it works. Time and time again.

You can lead a horse to water, and I’ll be damned if it doesn’t drink the damn thing dry if it’s a BDS liberal.

I always sensed that Waas had a contact on Fitzgerald’s team. I think it may have been an assistant or a lower level prosecutor. This is the last hurrah for Waas on the Plame case. He must be so disappointed that Rove wasn’t indicted so he gets a consolation prize-Bush’s testimony.

Fitz can show how much he dislikes leaks by firing the leaker on his team.

As usual Waas is publishing CR*P. I would certainly not assume this claim was based on a leak from Fitz’ office. I question Fitz’ good sense and jusgement, not his probity.

Maybe it is an attempt to run something up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes. You print something you have an idea might be true and then look at the reaction to see how close to the mark you were. In other words, someone might have made it up.

feh. According to an article I saw on Free Republic; and a comment written by Clarice, just now, up at Just One Minute, the ONLY thing happening is that WELLS has asked Judge Reggie Walton for a delay BECAUSE HE WILL BE IN LOS ANGELES, on another trial, starting earlier … but not ending in time for him to be in DC. For Libby.

As to the President wanting the HONEST TRUTH to get out about Wilson’s distortions, there’s nothing new, here, either. Except that both the WaPo and the NY Times are both in SELF-DESTRUCT to their reputations MODE.

I think at the NY Times you can blame pinch for being such an airhead.

But at the WaPo “causes belli” are different. There’s lots of anger at the spoiled child Bob Woodward, who sits on high in a very cushy position. But he says LITTLE.

If you think the President’s been quiet …

You don’t even come close to understanding how Bob Woodward keeps his lips closed.

I’ll guess … Or better yet, “Alex, I’ll take for $500” the real reason for all these mums. And, mummies.

Until Fitzgerald closes shop the books can’t flow.

And, the books will flow ALSO after 2008. As a lot of stuff in the Bush Derangement Syndrome has donks dropping not like flies, but like people infected with HIV. And, AIDS.

In other words the free-love left is about to meet the consequences of all their unprotected behaviors.

Not that I care. But the book market boon will look like the JFK years, all over again. Without the songs from Camelot.

By the way, at the NY Times, they’re into cannibalism. So, there may yet be recipes on how one eats these entrails? It’s not just the moose head sitting on desktops, anymore, either.

But to ignite Fitzmas, you’re gonna need more than wet newspapers.
