Hezbollah Captured By IDF In Bekaa Valley
Israel’s Special Forces pulled off a daring raid in the Bekaa Valley and captured a number of Hezbollah officials. All this while are ready to enter Southern Lebanon to establish a Hezbollah-free zone ripe for International forces to take over until a Lebanese force can fulfill the two year old UN resolution calling for the disarming of Hezbollah. All in all a good day in the world. Unless you are with or support Hezbollah.
Update: Well, whatever Hezbollah target the IDF was looking for seems to have slipped their grasp. In this update from Haaretz the IDF had a successful raid in that they came back with everyone intact and took out quite a few of the enemy. But those they captured do not seem to fit the requirement for a dangerous raid of this type:
None of those seized were high-ranking Hezbollah officials, however, as the IDF had hoped. Halutz said Wednesday that the soldiers had not aimed to take any individuals in particular, but rather to demonstrate that the IDF could reach any part of Lebanon.
To do a raid to simply show you can do one is irresponsible. They missed their target which rumor had it was a Hezbollah leader (or maybe someone even better?). Of course, if there was some other purpose or some other operation in parallel we would not hear about it in the news media.
