I have never believed that violence in movies or video games CAUSES people to do these things, so I think that might apply to sex also. I could change my mind on this, but I've never really seen any evidence that it's true. Here's my reasoning. There was sexual violence(crimes) before either movies, television or video games. What caused it back then? I have been hearing all my life that the violence and bad things on tv caused people to duplicate these things. I don't really believe that. I was in the first generation that grew up with television, getting one in 1948 when I was 8 years old. I saw cowboys shooting other cowboys. I never shot a cowboy. I've seen more and more sex crimes on tv. I never committed a sex crime. Now let me hypothesize: If I was gonna rape a woman and I saw a rape on tv, I might do it the same way, but I was gonna do it anyhow. So, how does the movie business or tv cause this guy in Ohio to be a pedophile? Correct answer, of course, is that it didn't. He was born a pedophile and will die a pedophile. Why do so many people claim that sexual proclivity is born into a person "I was born homosexual" and not believe pedophilia was born into a person? I don't know if it is, or isn't. By that, I mean, that I do believe some homosexuals are born that way and some are homosexual because they learned to be. Not unlike an alcoholic. There are certainly at least two types of alcoholics, one that has a genetic defect that will not allow their body to handle alcohol, and, two: a person that has drunk so much alcohold that their body has become addicted to it. I suspect that may be true of other body functions, such as sexuality. I don't know how or why a human wiring may be so screwed up that it makes them pedophiles, but if it is, the answer is to separate them from children for the remainder of their life. Maybe adult stem cell research can correct such screwed up wiring in the future, but meanwhile, keep them locked up. So, I'm saying, I'm not sure if I agree (I don't necessarily disagree) with AJ on 'why' the guy in Ohio did what he did. But I sure do agree that he is one screwed up individual for whatever reason that made him that way. But I'll repeat that there were people doing those same types of things before movies.
