Leiberman Loss Will Push Democrats Hard Left
The moderates in the Democrat party have been slowly killed off over the last 25 years of progressing conservatism. 2004 was really tough year on the Southern Democrat which could hold their own against their Republican counterparts. Historic note, the last time I voted for a Democrat was Chuck Robb over Oliver Norht for VA senate. And I still think that was the best choice. Zell Miller, John Breaux and others were stand up people any conservative could vote for if faced with a Pat Robertson type choice on the other side of the ballot. Joe Leiberman is not a southern conservative democrat. Not even close. But he is now the ‘most moderate’ member in a party heading full left over the political precipice. The Washington Post has an interesting statement on the election Tuesday in CT:
he passion and energy fueling the antiwar challenge to Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman in Connecticut’s Senate primary signal a power shift inside the Democratic Party that could reshape the politics of national security and dramatically alter the battle for the party’s 2008 presidential nomination, according to strategists in both political parties.
Actually, that is an understatement. The angry left represents 20-30% of the population, but their attitude and hate makes that a hard line with little chance for cross-over. The Democrats, it seems, are preparing to go down into the history books as the party that could not cope with changing times. It will be end through a series of angry outbursts and dreams of impeaching President Bush as the answer to all of the world’s problems – including Islamo Fascism. The far left’s tunnel vision has warped their sense of reality to the point that even listening in on the plans of those who want to kill as many Americans in order to stop their efforts as possible is conisdered illegal. When you are that far gone all you do is build walls between yourself and reality. The far left was sent into therapy at the loss of Al Gore. And it has been losing its bearings more and mroe ever since.
Their entire movement could be based on one word:
paranoia.

I have noted that the posters over at Kos have trimmed their wings a lot since they are getting some media coverage. However those over at DU still are in the falling off the left side of the flat earth mode.
They seem to have the mantra to take up the slack in the Kos cushy slimey soft pedal mode.
Even Firedoglake has been more subdued. Are they running out of fuel or are Malatove coctails getting out of favor?
I don’t have an answer to this problem or any approach to a solution, I just have an urgent need to kick the can down the block. Frustration is a temporarly balm, but retrospective observation can develop satisfactory results.
Democrat ‘68 Redux…
I’m of the belief – like others that the Democrats are about to relive 1968 in 2008, and when it happens they will have to think back to Joe Lieberman. You will remember in 1968 that the antiwar left chose Hubert Humphrey to run against Nixon a…

I second the notion that the Dems have already jumped off in the deep end. The only Dem pres winning reelection since 1944 was Clinton in 96 and he didn’t do it with a majority vote even then. If Perot hadn’t split the Repub vote in both 92 and 96 he wouldn’t have won in the first place. Anyhow the 35% far left fringe is not going to be enough to win for the Dems. When they lose this year, I think an entirely different Dem party will have to emerge if they are to ever win again. Otherwise they will only be a footnote in history.
Sunday Semi-Random Thoughts…
The last few weeks have been about war and terror, deranged loners with Bipolar Disorder, media shortcomings, and information warfare. Some highlights, or lowlights if you prefer: Charles has once again shown the power of the blogosphere at its best….

I would love to hear your insight on the logical flip of the political coin and get your view on the impact of a Liberman win.
Waiting with baited breath, ok it’s really bad breath but that’s just a quibble.
