It seems up to ten people where arrested in Pakistan related to the UK plane plot and there are clear Al Qaeda links according the UK’s Guardian:

ntelligence agents arrested at least seven people, including British nationals, over an alleged terror plot aimed at blowing up US-bound passenger jets from Britain and claimed there was an al Qaida connection in the case, Pakistani officials said.

More here at the Boston Globe. Turns out the Al Qaeda man is also a British Citizen.

You have to look at this situation and wonder what Musharref and the Pakistanis must think about Lamont’s and the Dem’s new cut and run strategy? These people across the region are putting their lives on the line to foil the mad Islamo Fascists – and yet there are voices here ready to dump them and run. All those brave Iraqis and Aghanis and Kuwaitis and folks from the UAE (who we dissed really badly once) and the Pakistanis are all wondering what kind of people Americans are to even be giving serious voice to Lamont’s laments for surrender at any cost. It cannot be a pretty picture.

Update: More here at the Washington Post:

Pakistan said on Friday it had arrested a man it described as an al Qaeda operative who had played a key role in a plot British police said they had foiled to blow up transatlantic airliners.

“He is a British citizen of Pakistani origin. He is an al Qaeda operative with linkages in Afghanistan,” Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao told Reuters.

It seems he was arrested along the northern border region near Afgahnistan. Very interesting indeed.
