Iran Continues On Path To Nuclear Weapons

Published by at 8:03 am under All General Discussions,Iran

Iran is using the Hezbollah-Lebanon-Israeli situation as predicted – as a diversion to the Western Public (assisted by the western media) to allow them more time to work on the nuclear weapons program:

Hamid Reza Asefi, a foreign ministry spokesman, said on Sunday: “We are not going to suspend [enrichment]. The issue was that everything should come out of negotiations, but suspension of uranium enrichment is not on our agenda.”

ran’s case has already been sent back to the UN security council because Tehran did not reply quickly enough and, last month, the council passed a resolution demanding Iran suspend enrichment by August 31 or face possible sanctions.

Western diplomats who follow the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) say Iran has been “complicating” the UN watchdog’s work in monitoring nuclear sites in the run-up to the August 31 deadline, denying entry to a senior inspector and cutting back on multiple-entry visas for IAEA staff.

One Western diplomat said: “It’s not outright obstruction, but Iran is creating complications within its rights [not created before]. They have reduced cooperation to a minimum under treaty obligations.”

How long are we going to allow Iran to pull the UN and some EU states around by their noses in lame hopes Iran will finally capitulate? Why should Iran stop? They have been ‘pressured’ for over a year with no serious consequences. All the empty threats of sanctions have only emboldened the Mad Mullahs and their Prophet President. Sadly, while the liberals see a religous idealogue – in the form of President Bush – who is getting messages from God to attack the ME, there is such a man running the out of control nation of Iran. My guess these blinders exist throughout the UN and EU and this is why we have allowed Iran to get this far.

  1. L’amico iraniano…

how long? long enough for iran to develop and build a small atomic device similar to a WWII version.

the only real question is will they use it? what is certain is they have or will be getting one soon……..

  3. Iran’s Saber Rattling…

My guess the next event will be Kofi sending the Iranians a strongly worded letter….they’ll show em.

  4. Iran Refuses UN Inspectors Access To Nuclear Site …

The US and certain European countries should not wait any longer to force Iran to comply. That Iran is refusing weapon inspectors to enter its nuclear sites and that Tehran has already said that it will not stop enriching uranium, combined with the hat…

Why shouldn’t Iran keep on with their nuclear options? Who will stop them? Not the UN. Not the IAEA. Not Isreal. And certainly not Europe. The only people who are capable of stopping them is the US. And it doesn’t look like we will. The Iranians know all this very well

It sounds like Iraq again. Nobody thought we would stop Saddam either, but we did. I am wondering what is going on that we do not know about. If they can not be stopped from getting the bomb then perhaps the mullahs could be driven from power.

I do not think we will do anything. I strongly doubt Israel will do anything. We are weak… and they are fanatics.

Seriously. We have some pretty strong evidence these guys have been striking at us for over twenty years now through terrorist groups. We have done nothing about this. We are scared of Iran.

The only way we will do anything is if they invade Iraq or something similiar of this nature. They have done very well with funding terrorism, however, why should they change their method of operation?

The next step will be them building up a nuclear arsenal.

    A very long step.

I could be wrong in these things. I hope I am. I strongly doubt it. I can’t help keep seeing this as a matter we will look back on in ten or twenty years from now as something we could have done then.

Iran would be a very difficult country to strike militarily, much more so then Iraq or Afghanistan. I do not think most people realize this. There are extraordinary difficulties to face, militarily, and they have a profound economic influence on top of this. There is also a profound religious influence.

We could win, but we would have to decimate the population to do this. I do not think our guys are willing to do this.

If they did change their methods of operation and did an overt attack someplace, we could justify an invasion. We could win if it was a severe enough attack, as only then would we justify a decimation of their population.

I hope I am wrong. I hope we have the guts to even do a targetted strike. But I doubt we would even do this.
