Bush Owns National Security

Published by at 6:35 am under 2006 Elections,All General Discussions

IBD has come to the conclusion (and I agree) in an editorial today that Bush owns the subject of National Security.

he series of speeches the president has been giving on the global war on terror show how and why the Bush administration has batted 1.000 in protecting the homeland from terrorist assaults in the last five years.

The speeches surely will rank among the most important addresses of any presidency, and they may be the boost congressional Republicans are looking for amid predictions that one or both houses are at risk of going Democratic.

For all intents and purposes, the Republican Party now has a lock on the issue of national security.

What do people expect after the Dems and Liberals opposed the Patriot Act, Monitoring Al Qaeda overseas planning attacks here (along with their scouts here already), came out against detaining these thugs, came out against asking for information ‘too harshly’, and have compared our military to the Nazis and Khmer Rouge? It was given that all rhese leftward rantings would tip the nation to the left. People who are not suicidal obviously would rather fight terrorism than each other.

So I want to remind everyone of the Democrat Contract With America I posted on February 6th of this year and notice how real it truly is. Some reminders:

FIRST, we will finally kill the Patriot Act so that no member of Al Qaeda will fear using our libraries to access international websites, access their email, or do basic research on major US installations and population centers. We will guarantee full privacy due anyone who makes it to our shores without question. In addition, we will roll back all provisions that put terrorism on an equal footing with Drug Traffickers and Organized Crime, which we understand greatly insults members of Al Qaeda who consider themselves above drug lords.

SECOND, We will enact legislation to release all Al Qaeda members now held in custody in the GITMO Gulag, while providing legal counsel to all who have been unfairly detained during this unfortunate international misunderstanding between Al Qaeda and America. We will ensure all detainees have options for bail and parole so they can continue with their life’s efforts while the legal issues surrounding their detention are worked out. Every ex-detainee will be provided the services of an ACLU lawyer.

THIRD, we will pass legislation ensuring that all Al Qaeda members will be free from government monitoring of their phone calls and emails with comrades back home monitored without probable cause. Probable cause will not include the normal desire to call home to friends and family. We see this act as protecting US citizens and Al Qaeda alike from warrantless surveillance.

NINE, we promise to immediately begin impeachment of Al Qaeda’s most dangerous enemy, the Imperial President W Bush, and we will promise to not stop our efforts until we have removed this thorn in Al Qaeda’s side – even if we have to make up scandals to get it done.

Sadly, these once humorous predictions have come true. It is surprising the Dems are self destructing at the hands of their rabid leftwing. It is only surprising how deep and long lasting the damage clearly will be.

More evidence of ABC folding: cancelled ads

When checking our Feedburner statistics a few minutes ago, something jumped out at me. It’s not often that we see cancelled campaigns in RSS (or in web advertising in general), especially from larger organizations or agencies. The reasoning is simple – it’s *expensive* to plan large campaigns, so ABC nixing this ad is all the more depressing.

(I should also add that if I had to guess, the person tasked with cancelling this ad far outranks the person who booked it in the first place.)

This docudrama is TOAST! Stick a fork in it! The fix is in!

I ultimately don’t care about Republican points, I care about national defense. And the Democrats have nothing there. They never have. In fact, the contrary is true. Which is not surprising because since the 1960s the agenda for the Democratic Party seems to be one centered around hatred of their own country.

Since 9/11 it is almost as if they have now tasted blood on their lips and their hatred is reaching a fevered pitch.

On Bush’s record on terrorism, it is good. He is an extremely strong president. He has stood bravely against overwhelming and vicious world opinion. He has done what is right against incredible adversity.

However, as has been noted ‘we have to be right 100% of the time, they only have to be right once’ is very true. This said, because of our aggressive attacks in Iraq and Afghanistan and because of our aggressive restructuring of the government to fight terrorism and the efforts of our great men and women on the ground… we have sent a loud message to terrorists, “Terrorism does not work with us”.

I hope it is loud enough and not too late.

And I hope it is not completely contradicted by the Left’s wild screaming, “Please, anything, anything, we just want to be told what to do by lawless savages”.

If they were able, the Dems could impeach till the cows come home. They’d never get the two thirds they need in the Senate to convict. Furthermore, if they think impeaching W helps their White House chances in ’08, they’d better think again. The whole country (well, that part which thinks for itself) would know its payback for Clinton.
