ABC News Mystery Poll
There is a stealth ABC News poll out there supposedly ‘just released’ which is being referenced in various news articles, but which is not being publicized by ABC News!?! Could it be because the poll results are bad for Democrats?
A poll released yesterday found that 55 percent of those surveyed think the country is safer from terrorism than it was before Sept. 11, 2001, while 37 percent do not. The ABC News poll also said 38 percent think the government is doing all it can to prevent another terrorist attack, while 60 percent say it is not.
Emphasis mine. Those numbers do not bode well for the doom and gloom democrat messages out there right now. But there was more bad news in that poll for Democrats trying to claim Bush is ‘scaring’ America by discussing the need to stay vigilant against terrorism. Recall the dems want to go back to 9-10, not face the reality of 9/11/06:
Yet memories of the day remain vivid; nearly every adult can recall where he or she first learned of the attacks. An ABC News poll on Sunday found that nearly 80 percent of Americans changed their outlook on life as a result of the tragedy. Nearly 75 percent worry about the possibility of another attack, and about a third are concerned that they could become terrorist victims.
About half, without prompting, listed Sept. 11 as the single most important international event of their lifetime.
Do the democrats believe these concerns about future terrorist attacks will be answered by calls to repeal the Patriot Act, stop the harsh questioning of postively identified terrorists caught trying to kill Americans, calls to end the NSA surveillance of terrorists? Do the Dems think Americans concerned with attacks here want to give Al Qaeda Iraq fee and clear by us running away? Not with these numbers it would seem:
Karl Rove, Bush’s top political aide, said in a January speech that Republicans would try to run on combating terrorism. That is the issue on which Bush got his highest approval rating from voters — 53 percent — in a Sept. 5-7 ABC News poll even as his overall approval rating was 42 percent. The poll found 46 percent say they have a great deal or a good amount of confidence in the government to prevent another terrorist attack and 53 percent said that had only a fair amount or none.
No wonder I can’t find this poll in any one spot. Bush’s numbers seem to be rising.
You’re too cynical about the missing poll, AJ. *wink*
Clarice
