The “Tone” In DC

Published by at 8:26 am under 2006 Elections,All General Discussions

One thing the left has to come to grips with is they need to work on being more professional, mature and cool-headed. No one wants to see a hot-head in charge of our country. All in all I think Clinton’s meltdown on Fox provided, yet again, a clear differentiator between left and right. George W Bush has maintained a professional decorum throughout his administration. He has been tough, but civil (not to mention mature). The days of finding some value in the Carville-Begala loud mouth version of politics are long gone. And the days of trying to lay blame are ending as well. No one completely blames Clinton for 9-11. All people say is if the left is going to blame Bush (and accuse him of complicancy in the attacks) then why not look at Clinton. This is simply another example of the left losing focus on our priorities.

Can someone explain to me how, if the 9/11 attack happened 8 months after Bush came into office but took 36 months to plan, train, organize and execute, how the blame could have been 100% George Bush’s?

Could someone also explain to me why the Republicans or even some members of the press never mentioned this simple fact when the Democrats were blaming Bush 100%?

common cents, the answer is no because of no “common cents”

I’ve seen Bush confronted in situations where I imagine what I would say if it were me. I’m usually surprised at his restraint.

He is very cool under pressure. Just exactly what is needed in these troubled times

  3. PMII says:

Well stated. I can not begin to imagine how Bush keeps his cool – very professional, mature, and presidential.

has bush ever uttered, in public, a negative personal statement about anyone? aside from his “axis of evil” statements when has he ever attacked his detractors……..

he has changed the tone in washington but no one likes it!

For 8 years, during the Clinton Adminstration, the Leftist Jacobite MSM, praised Clinton, his lapdogs, psychophants, “opposition research”, P.I., strap-hangers, Carvelle/Begala “pitbulls”, et.al., for going after and intimidating the opposition, bimbo-eruptions, etc.

What makes you think they’d accept anything but the OPPOSITE from Bush?

In fact, they’re fawing all over Clinton right now, for his “taking on” of FOX news; but anytime Bush gets the slightest bit “annoyed”, they’re all over it!

Makes me freaking sick to the stomach…

I have never seen Bush treat anyone the way Clinton treated Wallace. That was just ridiculous. Too bad he did not get that pissed at Bin Laden.

I do not understand the rancor about Fox, if it is so far to the right and so far out of the mainstream…why is it number one?

  8. momdear1 says:

Let’s see. for the first 4 years Clinton was in office, he blamed everything on Bush Sr. Remember him saying “I inheritied this situation.” Nothing was his fault. Then he and Hillary started blaming the “right wing comspiracy.” Now he is blaming Bush Jr. Just what did he do when he was president except warm the Presidential seat and get blow jobs?

  9. jeanneb says:

The Clinton, Carville, Begala wing of the Dem party is illustrative of the fundamental problem liberals face with today’s voters.

Their concept of a “war room” is the one they were so praised for using to attack Americans in the opposing party.

Just what did he do when he was president except warm the Presidential seat and get blow jobs?

Now Momdear, that’s a little harsh (heh). Don’t you remember how HARD he tried to get a middle class tax cut passed. I mean, he reeeeeally triiiiied haaaaarrd. And of course he tried harder than anyone on the planet to catch bin Laden. He just had so many distractions what with cigars and blue dresses and little Chinese guys showing up at the White House with grocery sacks full of cash.

God I hope historians are honest in their assessment of der Schleikmeister.

I just heard a quote by Hillary that she can be called on. She stated that if her husband and his national security team had been handed a report saying Bin Laden was determined to atack in the US that they would have done something.

Well, we have her on that one. In 1998 her husband received a report stating that Bin LAden was going to hijack planes in the US. Can she point to one thing they did with over 2 years of warnings. Plus I recall Richard Clark admitting under 9-11 Commission questioning that he never shared that old info with the Bush Admin.
Here’s the text of the PDB

“The following is the text of an item from the Presidential Daily Brief received by President William J. Clinton on December 4, 1998. Redacted material is indicated in brackets.

SUBJECT: Bin Ladin Preparing to Hijack US Aircraft and Other Attacks

    1. Reporting [-] suggests Bin Ladin and his allies are preparing for attacks in the US, including an aircraft hijacking to obtain the release of Shaykh ‘Umar ‘Abd al-Rahman, Ramzi Yousef, and Muhammad Sadiq ‘Awda. One source quoted a senior member of the Gama’at al-Islamiyya (IG) saying that, as of late October, the IG had completed planning for an operation in the US on behalf of Bin Ladin, but that the operation was on hold.A senior Bin Ladin operative from Saudi Arabia was to visit IG counterparts in the US soon thereafter to discuss options-perhaps including an aircraft hijacking.
IG leader Islambuli in late September was planning to hijack a US airliner during the “next couple of weeks” to free ‘Abd al-Rahman and the other prisoners, according to what may be a different source.
The same source late last month said that Bin Ladin might implement plans to hijack US aircraft before the beginning of Ramadan on 20 December and that two members of the operational team had evaded security checks during a recent trial run at an unidentified New York airport. [-]
    2. Some members of the Bin Ladin network have received hijack training, according to various sources, but no group directly tied to Bin Ladin’s al-Qa’ida organization has ever carried out an aircraft hijacking.Bin Ladin could be weighing other types of operations against US aircraft.Accord-ing to [-] the IG in October obtained SA-7 missiles and intended to move them from Yemen into Saudi Arabia to shoot down an Egyptian plane or, if unsuccessful, a US military or civilian aircraft.
A [-] in October told us that unspecified “extremist elements” in Yemen had acquired SA-7s. [-]
    3. [-] indicate the Bin Ladin organization or its allies are moving closer to implementing anti-US attacks at unspecified locations, but we do not know whether they are related to attacks on aircraft. A Bin Ladin associate in Sudan late last month told a colleague in Kandahar that he had shipped a group of containers to Afghanistan. Bin Ladin associates also talked about the movement of containers to Afghanistan before the East Africa bombings.
In other [-] Bin Ladin associates last month discussed picking up a package in Malaysia. One told his colleague in Malaysia that “they” were in the “ninth month [of pregnancy].”
An alleged Bin Ladin supporter in Yemen late last month remarked to his mother that he planned to work in “commerce” from abroad and said his impending “marriage,” which would take place soon, would be a “surprise.””Commerce” and “marriage” often are codewords for terrorist attacks. [-] “
