The Full NIE

Published by at 8:08 am under All General Discussions

While I am against leaks, it seems someone in the Intel Community has had it with the liberal-slanted leaks going to the NY Times and has provided some interesting (and apparently harmless) excerpts of the complete NIE to one of the blogosphere’s former spooks. Check out a fuller context of the NIE at In From The Cold. Judge for yourself.

    Great and thanks!
Either this was a deliberate mousetrap the usuals were lured into or Negroponte learned a lesson from Tenet’s tardy responses to other similar leaks.

    Leaked NIE Information…

The enemy within. Maybe the leakers were doing the bidding of Ray McGovern and Dan Ellsberg, who advocate the leaking of classified information for the purpose of undermining the Bush Administration.

And the leaks are particularly interesting given R…

  3. Putting the NIE Out to Pasture…

This aspect of the story always seems to be underreported and overlooked, but it should be the biggest part of the story – who is leaking these classified documents at the CIA and what will be done to stop it….

  4. Islam Fanatics Didn’t Hate Us Before Iraq?…

So let me see…..fanatics inside Islam didn’t hate us as much prior to the Iraqi invasion? Ok then, please explain 9/11 itself. Why were we attacked with such viciousness and violence if there really wasnt that much radicalism? How about the Afghani…

Michelle Malkin says the White House is striking back

    http://michellemalkin.com/archives/005986.htm

President Bush on Tuesday said it is naive and a mistake to think that the war with Iraq has worsened terrorism, disputing a national intelligence assessment by his own administration. He said he was declassifying part of the report.

“Some people have guessed what’s in the report and concluded that going into Iraq was a mistake. I strongly disagree,” Bush said.

He asserted that portions of the classified report that had been leaked were done so for political purposes, referring to the Nov. 7 midterm elections.

Bush announced that he was ordering parts of the report declassified during a White House news conference with Afghan President Hamid Karzai…

… Bush said he had directed National Intelligence Director John Negroponte to declassify those parts of the report that don’t compromise national security. The National Intelligence Estimate was written in April.

“You read it for yourself. Stop all this speculation,” Bush said.

He complained that “somebody leaked classified information for political purposes,” Bush said, criticizing both the news media and people in government who talked to them about classified material.

I quit taking my local paper last year. (1) because of their misrepresenting of the facts…they just copied the NYT and AP for their news..they didn’t verify anything. (2) Everything they printed was old…I had already read it the day before on the internet. They have tried to lure me back several times, but each time I saw the liberal slant had not changed. The only reason I wanted the paper was for local news and comics. I decided my blood pressure was not worth taking this rag. I can only hope that these treasonous rags get new management who will report the news as it is and not as they want it to be. You would think the stockholders would be hollering. Their dividends must be pretty low now.

The truth hurts, Flopping Aces and illogic doesn’t negate it.
The Islamic world’s disapproval rating of America has increased
significantly post-Iraq invasion their nation’s polls indicate. Since it took Al Qaeda eight years between attacks here, you can’t even exonerate Bush yet in that regard either.

Strata’s continuing act misrepresenting the resistance in
Iraq as reflected in his previous Al Qaeda reference doesn’t
serve truth either. Not only is Al Qaeda only about 10% of
the insurgency, native Iraqis can fight it better once we
    leave.

Selectively leaking classified information for political purposes may play to the kookbat Democrat fringe like Ken, but it is going to energize the GOP base far more than Dems. This near treasonous strategy is going to backfire on the Donkeys big time on November 7th.

The Islamic world’s disapproval rating of America has increased
    significantly

Ken, you may be concerned about that — I’m not. My fondest hope is that we can, in the foreseeable future, come up with an alternative to their oil and tell them to go pound sand.

I’m not surprised Ken that the Arab countries don’t like us. I’m also not surprised that they are breeding more terrorists. I’m not surprised that they hate the Jews more to day then yesterday, or the Pope, or cartoons, or fake Bible/toilet stories, or fraternity parties at Abu Gharab, or John Howard saying join the Australian community or leave, or any of the other ‘humiliating’ grievances that the terrorist might dream up. What I am surprised at is those who are so non-serious in the name of political return to power. When politics is more important then country it’s hard for a reasonable person to comprehend. You may think that Bush is at war with the terrorists, I’m am also at war with the terrorists and so are most of the people that write here and 51% of the people who support our president. I have decided that the best way to win “hearts and minds” is to kill the majority of terrorists so that the rest of us can live in peace.

    Retired Spook-
We agree on something. America needs to come home and
develop its own energy sources, meanwhile doing nothing to
fan the flames of Moslem hatred by supporting Israel and otherwise
intervening with bases and military in their part of the world.

    Kathie
When Bush misrepresented the nature of Iraqi intelligence to the American people and proceeded to invade, it was “politics being
more important than country” and a much more inept politics
than that which Strata busies himself recently accusing Democrats
of exerting. Inept because the Bushies failed completely to anticipate
an insurgency, ignoring intelligence warnings to the contrary.

I think California Conservative hit the nail on the head with the below post. The 3 main nutroot Dems all have a presser on the weekend re the leaked NIE? And latest news is Pelosi et al demand a behind the door meeting to “discuss” the situation, right AFTER Bush calls their bluff? You would think that the Party of Conspiracies should have been just a wee bit more circumspect in their obvious leak of classified info coupled with their 3-prong attack on the Bush admin – I mean a 5 year old could figure out this one.

    From California Conservative Blog:

    Democrats Unleash Reid, Pelosi, Dean
Filed Under: Terrorism, Elections, Pelosi, W, Iraq, Homeland Security, DNC, Author: Gary Gross, Intel

There aren’t many press releases sent out on weekends as a rule. This Sunday was different, with the ‘Three-headed Democratic Monster’ each, issuing, statements. Here’s a taste of Harry Reid’s statement:

Ken if you want to believe that Bush misrepresented the intel, you go boy!

  15. Enlightened says:

Ken – I could give a rats ass what Islamic terrorists think about me or my country.

As long as they continue to profess their peaceful nature by violent acts of hatred – they reap what they sow.

If this is not the true nature of their religion – I have yet to see a majority, nay even a minority of their faith decry these acts.

The US is the only country with balls big enough to slap these asshats into submission, instead of enabling them to commit more violent and heinous acts. Get over – the US will not submit, and will not surrender.

  16. ivehadit says:

Yes Ken, bad behavior is bad behavior and I don’t care who is doing it. Stop it first, and then maybe we’ll talk…and only if the intentions are in good faith…
A tall order for the Islamofascists…and some others I can think of…

  17. ivehadit says:

And btw, check your addition. The Khobar Towers-(from google)
“This photo of the Khobar Towers complex in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, clearly shows the devastation of Building 131 by the bomb that exploded June 25, 1996, killing 19 Americans. The building did not collapse because it was built with prefabricated cubicles bolted together.”

August 7, 1998-US Embassies in Aftica attacked.

Check that addition there, Ken. It ain’t 8 years.

  18. DaleinAtlanta says:

Well, “Left by Ken” is a typical Leftist, who believes his country, and President are EVIL; but meanwhile, the people who actually BEHEAD people are the good guys!

Okay, I see, that makes Beheading okay, becuase it’s Anti-Bush!

Yeah, that’s it! I mean, I actually heard George Carlin say on his HBO special, that the American military in Iraq was worse than the Jihadis, and deserved everything they got, and in the same program, he said that if the 4 contractors, who were killed and had their bodies mutilated in Iraq the other year, were stupid enough to go to Iraq as Mercenaries, then they deserved what they got as well!

    NICE….keep it up clueless ones….

In the meantime, about the NIIE, it took me awhile, but I figured it out:

KARL ROVE, actually leaked it to the NYT/WashPo, so that Democrats, like Teddy Kennedy, could issue the press releases they did, and then, ROVE mind-controlled Bush, to release the NIIE, once the Democrats had all issued statements about the veracity of the report, and hence the wrongheadedness of the Iraq Warn, and NOW, with the NIIE coming out, and all the Democrats, AGAIN, looking like a bunch of Fools; well hell, it’s got to be a KARL ROVE plot to make the Democrats look Dumb and Weak on National Security…….RIGHT……RIGHT??

Oh, sorry…..THEY DO THAT ALL BY THEMSELVES!

  19. Ken says:

Conservative Republican Walter Jones (NC) has more integrity than the crop of willfully misled Bush reactionaries on this site. He agrees though a former war supporter Bush cherrypicked the intelligence
and the Adminsration blundered then lied about blundering the war effort itself.

Ivehadit-I of course reffered to the defense of Bush due to no attacks on the US continent sicne9/11. Or maybe, being a typical Empire booster, this poster believes we owned the Towers.

    Enlightened-
The US does not have “balls big enough” to defeat even the
part of the insurgency in Iraq which can be attributed to
    “Islamic terrorists.”

Coming home to protect our borders from the real threat
is not “surrender”–Bush’s guest worker program for Mexicans
    is,however.
