A US Traitor Found In Iraq
A naturalized US citizen has been arrested in Iraq and apparently was providing aid and support to our enemies:
A naturalized U.S. citizen from Iran who was found in Iraq was indicted Friday on charges of providing support to a terrorist organization that seeks to overthrow the current Iranian regime, federal prosecutors said.
Zeinab Taleb-Jedi, 51, then a resident of Herndon, Va., went to Iraq in 1999 to attend a training camp run by the Mujahedin-e Khalq, or MEK, the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles said in a statement.
“During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Taleb-Jedi was discovered by coalition forces in an MEK training camp called Ashraf Base,” about 40 miles northwest of Baghdad, the statement said.
Taleb-Jedi was indicted by a federal grand jury in Brooklyn, N.Y., on one count of providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization. She faces up to 15 years in federal prison if convicted.
Taleb-Jedi was being prosecuted in New York because her plane landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport on March 31 upon her return from Iraq. The case was being handled by Los Angeles-based prosecutors who have been involved in MEK-related investigations since the 1990s.
Sadly this traitor hails from my current hometown of Herndon, VA.

Are you sure you want to say that? Exactly which of our enemies was she providing aid and support to?

It’s not clear to me that “providing support to a terrorist organization that seeks to overthrow the current Iranian regime” is exactly the same as “providing aid and support to our enemies,” that is, enemies of the US. I’m not saying she shouldn’t be prosecuted for her terrorist ties, but I would want to draw a distinction or two. Perhaps we need to know more about that organization, such as, have they done anything to target US interests or to violate US laws with the specific intent of “providing aid and support to our enemies,” that is, enemies of the US? The indictment, apparently, does not claim that she is a “traitor”, that is, that she committed treason. Rather, she was charged with “one count of providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization.” Different.
Although the MEK is classified a terrorist organization, I think it is also the same outfit that provided the information regarding leading to the outing of Iran’s nuclear program. In that case, I think the US is in a non-enviable catch 22 situation. I wonder if the Pentagon closes an eye on the Chinese shooting lasers to blind surveillance satellites, why can’t helping the “enemy of my enemy†also go unpunished?
