Kirk Fordham Resigns Over Foley Fallout

Published by at 1:23 pm under All General Discussions,Foleygate

Update: I have changed the title of this to correct the misinformation provided by The Blotter in claiming Fordham was fired. According to Town Hall he apparently resigned.

Update: It seems I was possibly wrong about Fordham since he was one of those people Mike Rogers and company tried to ‘out’ and put pressure on. So it seems Rogers got another trophy. – End Update

ABCNews’ Brian Ross website The Blotter is reporting that one time Foley aid (and suspected leaker to Mike Rogers, etc) and up until today aid to Rep Reynolds has been fired.

The chief of staff for Republican Congressman Tom Reynolds, Kirk Fordham, resigned after questions were raised about his role in the handling of the congressional page scandal, according to Republican sources on Capitol Hill.

Those sources said Fordham, a former chief of staff for Congressman Mark Foley, had urged Republican leaders last spring not to raise questionable Foley e-mails with the full Congressional Page Board, made up of two Republicans and a Democrat.

“He begged them not to tell the page board,” said one of the Republican sources.

Well, those who had zeroed in on Fordham as being involved in this orchestrated scandal may well have been right on the mark. We shall see. If this was a well planned media attack, then the timing would have been ruined if Democrats had caught wind of this news during the original round of investigation – the dems leak to the media constantly. Or it could be as Fordham claims – he is a fall guy for the GOP. I kinda doubt the latter. He doesn’t make a good sacrificial lamb – he is not known by anyone outside Congress.
Addendum: The original Blotter article had Fordham claiming to be a victim of the GOP. Now the Blotter has a statement from Fordham which makes him look much less suscpicious and he claims to be a victim of Democrats. He may well be falling on his sword for the good of the party.

  1. The Foley Scandal Redux…

The Democratic party is going full tilt in their attempt to get us much as they can from the Foley incident:
The Senate Democratic Campaign Committee (SDCC), headed by Reid, sent an e-mail with the subject line “Heckuva Job!” to supporters …

Seems the only Gay right that activists DON’T want Gays to have is the right to privacy (staying in closet), This may only apply to Gay Republicans tho.

    Enforcement

Rogers has stated many times on his website that he outs those who work for / or actually are people who enable what he sees as an anti-gay agenda. He outs reps and dems but acknowledges by virtue of party stance more of them are going to be republicans.

Aj – Not sure that Fordham is a victim in this – according to Lifson – Aravosis claims he got info from Fordham:

“According to Lifson, Aravosis (one of the known liberals outing gay congress people) said he obtained the latest information about the five-term congressman from Foley’s former chief of staff, Kirk Fordham.”

For a short time they accidently put up the draft of the press release naming the page with the emails.

I was pulled down after about 3 or 4 minutes

BTW the “child” whose name I won’t repeat is 21 years old

Yes, what is the deal with Fordham? Lifson has some interesting comments at AT…

  8. Enlightened says:

Well, it is strange, it looks like Aravosis may have blackmailed Fordham to leave Foley’s team and hire onto Reynolds, and then again blakmailed him to out Foley.

Read the whole article – it spells out in no uncertain terms that the Beltway knew about Foley for years. Any democratic jerkwad that states in public they did not know is a bald faced liar. Fordham denies Aravosis claims that he got info from him.

BTW – the plan to out Foley has been going on for years.

I think spokesperson from both parties need to condemn unequivocally the actions of Aravosis and Rogers. The suggestion that blakmail is now a honorable political tool needs to be stopped dead in its tracks. The invasion of privacy conducted by these assholes is repugnant.

Just read on another blog Fordham has lost his job.

  10. MerlinOS2 says:

    Fordham was Foleys aide
Then when Foley withdrew from the 2003 senate race he moved to becoming an part of Mel Martinez’s camp
Later he moved to his current position he just lost
